White Meat: Appetizer Kickstarter is Live!

A good friend of mine has launched a Kickstarter for a short film.

We're more than halfway there, but the March 3rd deadline is looming and if we don't reach our goal we won't get any funding. Any contributions or signal boosts would be welcome, I'd love to see this post find its audience among the horror film community on Tumblr.

Story

True story, beneath Washington Square, an urban park in Philadelphia, lie buried the bodies of hundreds of enslaved people. What if, one night, they all came back as zombies, but they only ate white people?

That's the premise of White Meat, a movie we're making that will take that idea to its full comedic horror potential. But first, we need to establish proof-of-concept. That's where White Meat: Appetizer, and you, come in.

White Meat: Appetizer is a short film that takes place on the same night as White Meat the feature, and tells a smaller story about one zombie attack that occurs while our hero, a Black man named Rand-E, is filming his famous series where he goes to different white-owned establishments and sees how long he can stay there without buying anything. The whole thing is from his point of view shot on an iPhone. 

This short will show that our concept works, can strike the right balance between scares and laughs, and will help us start to figure out things we'll need to figure out for the feature (what level of gore, how will the zombies look and move, etc.). It will also show investors that the real deal, the feature, is viable and worth supporting.

i think the reason that white meat/rot/carcass works so good is that its not really tryin to be pepper steak

like. pepper steak aint electroswing. its an industrial song that uses electroswing samples. ik that sounds real nitpicky and 🤓but its why it dont sound like anything else out there. its supposed to sound like a huge horrible jazz machine that u cant stop but thats windin down on its own

and the white songs aint goin for that. they ARE electroswing. theyre a lot more organic. they got a lot more vocal samples and real instruments. they got a weird nostalgic feel to em. it aint just the lyrics. (it is the lyrics. but it aint just them.) so the whole "the song rots away" thing WORKS and i dont think itd work as good for pepper steak

pepper steak feels like its "about" the batters mission. the white songs feel like theyre "about" the world the batters tryina destroy. and so they dont feel like theyre steppin on each others toes yk?

I was originally kind of skeptical if White meat could compete with Pepper Steak, but it has kind of grown on me.

I was pretty unsure about the new OST when I learned about it, but even though there will definitely be an OG OST mod I'm not sure if I'll play the remaster with it.

I'm pretty excited for the OFF remaster.
