Reading 1984 is actually sad, as the theme about how the government can basically alter/erase the past, and everyone forgets about how it truly was, reminds me of the many cases of straight-washing, white-washing and such.

It's really sad, how this scary thing about people in power altering reality to manipulate us, turns out to have happened in real life.

I don't know what to say.

I saw you talking about artists often making Claude darker than he actually is, but I noticed that it starts to happen with Petra more and more often as well.

Not surprised (tho haven't commented on it cuz I just come across less Petra art in general rip), light-skinned POC characters are never gonna escape the "fixed your shit :)" artists. Because how dare we not be born dark enough to appease their personal tastes amiright fellas

As some of you may already know, Dana Terrace, creator of The Owl House, has been accused of supporting white-washing her own characters and i think i must share my opinion on this matter.

This is stupid, Dana only supported the fanarts her fans made and its absurd she gets blamed of white-washing only because the artist used a pale color pallete? We have to stop all of this drama, she was supporting her fans and everyone thought she was being a racist shit.  If you all do like and respect the owl house then apologyse, if the artist did draw luz as a completely white character then it would be understandable but all she had was a tiny pale color pallete that doesnt even go out from black skin! please stop this, maybe noone will read this but i think we all should apologyse to Dana and the artist for making a drama over an stupid change in a color pallete that isnt even white-washing and stop harrasing an innocent artist and Dana. thank you.

It’s less that his character design isn’t historically accurate, and more that it’s blatant white-washing. Maybe not intended that way, idk what exactly was in the devs’/artists’ minds when they came up with Solomon’s character design, but.

Solomon is not white. He is a Biblical, historical figure, and he is Jewish. Making him pale white with white hair is very much erasure of not only a POC character, but a POC historical figure who has an important place in his people’s history.

About Alistairs white-washing: i mean he is at the very least half white (his father) and he has western european facial features and light hair (ofc POC can have that too but most gingers and blondes are white). Wouldn't that make him white-passing instead of white-washed? I am mixed but mostly white-passing myself and also confused xD

Anyone feel free to correct me if I’m wrong but it is my understanding that white-washing and white-passing aren’t really on the same spectrum. White-passing is when a person of color is perceived by others to be white and may benefit from some of the privileges of whiteness. White-washing is when a person of color is made more “white” by lightening skin color, changing facial attributes, changing hair color, etc, and

I commented on the white-washing because Alistair has absolutely been a victim of that. He goes from brown to ghostly between Origins and Inquisition. His hair also changes from a more sandy dark blond to a more gingery reddish blond. Its like he’s being bleached out with each iteration.
