I personally think vultures are pretty awesome! This is a White-backed Vulture, an Old World Vulture. They are the most common large vulture in Africa. Although they are the most common species, they are currently listed as Critically Endangered and their numbers are decreasing. Poisoning is the biggest threat to all the vultures in Africa 😞 "Seven of Africa’s eleven vulture species now find themselves on the edge of extinction, and their decline has been alarmingly rapid over the last 50 years: numbers have fallen by 80-97 per cent depending on the species. There are eight vulture species in Kenya. Four of these, namely the White-backed Vulture, Rüppell’s Vulture, White-headed Vulture and Hooded Vulture, are considered Critically Endangered on the IUCN Red List of threatened species."
