The moment to live. The moment to die. THIS IS WAR.
"Pirates are evil!? The Marines are justice!? These labels have been passed around heaven knows how many times...! Kids who have never known peace and kids who have never known war... their values are too different! Whoever stands at the top can define right and wrong as they see fit! Right now, we stand in neutral territory! Justice will prevail? Well, sure it will! Whoever prevails is justice!"
You don't become a shichibukai without learning a few things about the world.
I think Doflamingo is an amazing antagonist. He's not your average two-dimensional bad guy who's bad just because he wants to be. He has motives and values and all that. But he's not your average three-dimensional bad guy either, because normally we see these types doing something admittedly wrong, but it's justified thanks to their history or circumstances.
Doflamingo breaks from this mold because he challenges the very idea of right and wrong, answering only to himself and adhering to no conventional sense of morality. He's a great character because he can't be justified or condemned by being held to our standards; he is foundationally different from everyone, even in the One Piece world.
Just one of many reasons why I love him.
The moment to live. The moment to die. THIS IS WAR.
