“No... no, there’s no switch. It’s a part of me... always was and always will be. I mean-- I mean I’m afraid that I’ll lose...” Steve trailed off, heaving an almost reluctant sigh. He didn’t want to give voice to his concern, as though merely speaking it would make it so.
This was Bucky. He should be able to say anything to him without judgement. Yet there was also that fear of losing him... again... after he’d only just gotten him back.
“I’m afraid that the more I use my... my abilities... the more I lose grip on my-- on my humanity.” There was still much Steve didn’t know about his heritage. He wasn’t a full-blooded fae, only partly so, and as such, genetics could and probably would play a funny part in all of this.
Guilt hit him in a wave. There he was, talking about losing his humanity, when Bucky’s had been ripped and stripped away from him without choice. Brutally and savagely. Stolen away from Steve who had no knowledge or hope of ever bringing him back.
“I’m sorry, that was-- here I am talking about this and--”
