If the numbers are to be believed, it really seems like they havent announced season five yet just because they want to make sure we keep rewatching it. I hope that at least behind the scenes they renew it soon so production can start soon on the new season.
I'm like 80% sure it's done on purpose. Look, they know the show is popular. They know we'll binge the absolute shit out of it. Last season, they literally waited to renew it until the last minute, when six months had already passed, just to suck up all those DCU memberships and views. They're not dumb. If they renewed it now, they would lose out on all those binging numbers and the $$ that follows. It's gross, but it's business. If they choose not to renew it, it'll be for a super dumb reason that won't be because the show wasn't popular or profitable. But anon, I hope they renew it soon, too.
