30. hardest part of writing
Starting and the end. I can’t ever seem to get in motion, first lines and first scenes are a huge stumbling block for me.
31. easiest part of writing
The scene that was part of the original concept. There’s always one, the first image that came to mind and that I built the story around, it’s getting to that part that is the hard part.
Don’t sit around and wait for “motivation”, but also don’t force it. If you’re sitting there staring at your blank screen, your half-page, your 450 words or whatever, and there’s nothing coming, take a break. Get some tea, walk around, watch a video on Youtube, write something else, wait for the words to come back. And in the spirit of that, there’s nothing wrong with working on more than one project at a time, that way you can actually get more done because you can work on whatever you have the desire to at the moment.
And don’t worry about starting at the beginning of the story. Start with whatever scene you feel like you can write, and if you need to write more to go before that later, that’s alright.
