911 Coding Emergency

So I mentioned that I had to be deep in code recently, the issue happened when something was accidentally done and the database was broken because of it. There was an issue with the database software we use that when it gets upgraded from a certain version (the version we were on) to a newer version, the permissions are off on the directory that the database file is in. Well, that issue took out about 15 scripts of code that depended on that database. It was accidental, and the fix wasn’t quite known at first and in resolving it, it broke a few other things. Ever had an issue in Linux doing the SUDO command where it says it can’t run because it should only have its own permissions basically? Yeah, had to fix that in the recovery shell. Pretty crazy but I wasn’t the only one with the issue so luckily there was a fix. So one of the scripts was broken because of manual entries needed to be made while the database was down. So I spent entirely too much time trying to find out why I had a null value going into one of the scripts. Fortunately I had already developed the code to fix that issue, it was my backup check before updating the database, once I skipped the first check, the second check let me figure out what was broken and get the manual broken data out of the queue. Once that was done, we got everything back up and running. Once everything was back up and running, someone accidentally reverted all my changes from the last day and then I had to redo everything, but it was resolved by the end of the next day once the time frame was realized. One small accident took about 30 hours to resolve, now the biggest issue? This patch was because its replacement wasn’t done. Ever had a single accident set you back further than you wished it would? This set me back hours on the development I already had going for the replacement.
