Thank you Forefathers.
Happy Presidents Day. One of the local stores is having an advertised Tube Sock Sale for Presidents Day. Nothing makes me think more of my countries, past presidents, then a pair of Tube Socks. When you look at photos of our past presidents, the one thing they had in common was beards and scowly faces. My daughter asked me why in pictures the presidents never smiled? I told her I think it was because of bad dental hygiene, plus they all had tarter control problems. If you recall George Washington had wooden teeth and in those days he had no Lemon Pledge around to polish them. (Think how nice his smile would have been if he'd have had access to a Black and Decker Workmate.) I wish we did more to observe Presidents Day. You had to admire the many things they accomplished. Remember that these men did it as a service to this country, and with a fair amount of sacrifice. Not like today where you get a terrific pension that is unmatched by other jobs and consider politics a career job, as many do now. Of all the past presidents I must admit I really admire Mr. Washington. There are many myths when it comes to him. Did he really chop down the cherry tree? What about tossing a dollar across the Potomac? I know he did make a boat trip across the Deleware. Of course today most children think he made the journey to buy a lottery ticket.
