You both kicked off your shoes. Man, I dig those rhythm and blues..." Clint sang to nobody in particular as he began repairing one of the espresso machines in the coffee shop.

She knew it was pointless when she told Beth about her machine being broken. The little nurse couldn’t do much about it. And somehow, Jay knew that it would eventually reach the landlord that had no real business in her shop other than being a patron. Still it was a bit of surprise when Jay came down that morning to find him hunched over the machine.

What had clued her in that someone was in her shop to begin with was the fact that Prue had not pounced on her for the morning’s walk. She had not bouffed for food or been asleep at her side. And the fact that it was nearing eight in the morning on a Saturday. 

On silent feet, honed from years of yoga and training in the boxing ring, she lid down her stairs to find him. Rather than disturb the man Jayden settled for leaning in the stairwell on the bottom step, arms crossed and leaning her head on the wall. It had been months since he last broke into the shop and she had rather missed him. Not that she would ever say anything to anyone about that.
