Just watched Little Shop of Horrors (Spooky Season!) and realized that it’s basically a musical PG-13 version of Mutant Pumpkins from Outer Space.

HEADCANON TIEM;

-Jack/Jack Jr. can spit bullet-sharp seeds. Not for planting, but for shooting at people you don’t like.

-It doesn’t just have to be candy to make them bigger; Syrups, soda, any form of sugar.

-Given enough time and resources, Jack & other mutant pumpkins can propogate; Shedding some size in their new spawn.

-Mutant Pumpkin limbs are woven from very tightly-knit branches or roots. These can unravel at will for convenience sake.

And finally

-Mutant Pumpkins can amalgamate on their own; Jack doesn’t necessarily need to be involved. This is typically done when approaching their breaking point, to more evenly distribute mass and gain a higher growth limit.

If you have any other HCs for these guys, do tell! (they also taste very good in a pie)

you just gave me the imagery of jack growing mini pumpkins from his plant body, and they all jump out to swarm in disperse like rats

an abundance of pure concentrated sugar definitely isn't good for them, even if it gives cool abilities and such. so I think they should sustain energy by eating just natural high sucrose foods

that said, mutant pumpkins don't give me the impression they live very long either, and the more they use their bodies + sugar the more it deteriorates, but even without all that I imagine within a week they'd have rotted under less than preferred conditions

but jack I feel because of his plant body, he can always grow a new head! it's detachable and necessary to get rid off at least every month, and while not being able to consume solids would just be fine taking fluids

really becoming Pumpkin King Jack huh

the pumpkins from the special all had the potential to be what jack was, but as jack is on his own where he makes his mini pumpkins, those guys are expendable, so he'd just need to refuel and conserve his power (if he wants to avoid an early shed)

I've never had pumpkin pie, only soup & roasted. I don't doubt they must be crazy delicious but please don't eat mutant pumpkin pie if you aren't some kind of radioactive-resistant 😭 it might give an average unremarkable person genetic mutations or something, at the very least, horrendous food poisoning
