Giving Nessarose the power to fly instead of walk is genius. Not only does it remove that ableist trope but because she becomes the Wicked Witch of the East, it makes sense that she'd have the same power as her sister. Also, this was foreshadowed in part 1.

I think one scene that gets overlooked a lot in the wicked movie (part 1) is that little moment during the entrance ceremony where Nessa is struggling to see anything because everyone else is standing up and so is Boq. It’s a little thing, movie-original, but it’s so important because in the movie this is the moment Nessa starts considering Boq perfect for her. Like, him asking her out absolutely was the start of their friendship - I doubt she knew his name before that- but you can tell for Nessa this was a moment of connection.

Because girlie is so desperate to be known that she is willing to find the closest person that is experiencing a situation adjacent to her own unhappy one and go “well close enough we deserve each other.”

Imo, Wicked is the only story that's allowed to get away with the "disabled character is spontaneously magically cured" trope because the outcome is hilarious. Like everyone literally just comes together to say, "Okay, we would have felt like jerks saying this when you were in a wheelchair, but we need you to know that you're the biggest bitch in Oz, fuck you", and then a house drops on her. It's fantastic!
