I love how Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel specifically cameoed during One Short Day, because that’s the song where Glinda and Elphaba are talking about their future together- a future that we know they’ll never get. BUT having Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth there feels like we got to see a version of Elphaba and Glinda who DID get their happy ending together living in the Emerald City 💚🩷

bonus:
❝For when she chose to remember her youth at all, she could scarcely dredge up an ounce of recollection about that daring meeting with the Wizard. She could recall far more clearly how she and Elphie had shared a bed on the road to the Emerald City. How brave that had made her feel, and how vulnerable too.❞ — Gregory Maguire, The Wicked Years
like yes Glinda's mad because Elphaba's getting what she wants even though she feels like she should be winning, but its so funny that Glinda has the whole ass school doing organized choreo and singing about how much the girl who makes Glinda's pulse race and face flush (OUT OF HATRED) is awful and Glinda's great, and the SECOND Glinda realizes said girl (WHO SHE DEFINITELY HATES IN A NORMAL WAY) isn't paying attention, she ends the song, leaves everyone dancing, and runs off to her room alone
I think about how much Fiyero and Glinda must have clung to each other during Elphaba's five-year absence, and now Glinda is alone with herself for the rest of her life after so little time with Elphaba, without the two people she loves most in the world. Fiyero is finally fully committed to Elphaba, just as he always wanted, and Elphaba is finally happy with someone who has truly chosen her. But despite everything, they still miss Glinda. The time in Shiz etched in all three of their memories.
