Excerpt: "...Everyone was sitting down, blue gowns and caps neat and well placed upon their heads and frames while they listened to the thank you speeches from the principal of NYIT and a few other administrative people; the images taken by the photography club shone upon a screen behind all the teachers. Newt, Teresa, Thomas, and Minho all watched intently for such an occasion in which their faces would appear upon one of the many photographs; they all sat in alphabetical order, so the four friends were a few chairs apart from one another, which meant that whenever they all saw one another in the giant screen it would result on a quick text sent to that very person. Such was the case when a picture of Teresa appeared on the display; her hair was a flowing curtain around and behind her, she had clearly been called from behind solely so that picture could be taken, but she still looked gorgeous. Great shot, read the text Newt had sent her. Model or architect, ten out of eleven people would get it wrong, read the one from Minho and a very simple Ew! ~ from Thomas had made a scoffed breath echo from her lips, eyes rolling and landing on the big screen once again, were another picture was fading to display a brand new one. '…to congratulate all our graduates on their achievements…' A woman was saying behind the podium on the stage as another text popped in Teresa's phone; Alby. Of course, since her last name started with an A, she was sitting on the front row; clearly it was hard to appear discrete when sitting so close to the stage, a feat she found out when she read the content of her friend's text. People like you are the reason why I told the principal I didn't want to give any speeches in my first year of teaching. Teresa's eyes lifted from her phone almost immediately in search for her teacher friend in one of the seats on the stage. Alby's look of disapproval brought a half guilty grin from Teresa's lips that only resulted on a shake of the older boy's head regardless of his own smile. Sorry. She mouthed, making a big deal of putting her phone inside her black purse so he could pay witness to it. '…who better to share the accomplishment of the end of their studies than a fellow classmate?' Teresa heard the woman say, making her clear her throat before finally prying her eyes away from Alby. 'Please, help me welcome this year's valedictorian,' The woman paused to look down at the paper she'd been reading from all along, 'Mister Newton James Wright.'..."
