I only finished Inquisition because I prefer the combat systems in that game, and I can tell you that I cared very little about the narrative in it because I didn’t feel like I had much background for the lore besides some of what I played in Origins. I honestly became so fed up by the time I finished Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts that I just mainlined the whole thing to finish it.

This is a long way of saying that I think you have to play all three to really appreciate the narrative and the implications of how it ends. For example, I really never understood the drama surrounding the big reveal at the end because I just wasn’t invested. If you can, try to convince your partner to at least watch a Let’s Play or something of the first two.

As a side note: I panicked last night because I couldn’t find my copy of Origins, and today I went through some boxes to see if I could find it and ended up cracking open a box crammed full of my old games from that generation. It was glorious (and yes, I did find my copy of Origins!)

Yes seriously this though.

I mean, I do think it can be accessible to someone who hasn't played the first two, but the other point I was trying to make with him was that (in my opinion) there is more emotional investment in the narrative if you've played the first two. It is entirely possible that I am too emotionally invested in this narrative as a whole, but I have also been playing them almost on repeat for 13 years, so I guess it makes sense.

Maybe I can convince him to watch the Dragon Age Keep recap at the very least. Or I'll write him up a little generic recap that he can read.

Anyway, I'm glad you found your old copy of Origins! It must have been fun to see some of those other older games, too.

What are your Harry Potter ships? 👀

Honestly, I couldn't get behind any of the ships.

I know I HATE HarryxGinny. And honestly, I hate Ginny. I find her bland and unnecessary, annoying even. And JKR only paired them together bc Ginny was the only Girl-Weasley to make Harry officially part of the family. I mean, if she really wanted Harry to marry a Weasley it wouldn't take much to get me on the GeorgexHarry bandwagon. After everything Harry has been through he needs someone to make him laugh. 😏

Also I think JKR pairing the golden trio with the people they "loved" at 15/16 (while literally fighting for their lives) is totally unrealistic. You can't expect everyone, anyone, find lifelong, healthy, love before you deal with all that trauma.

You expect me to believe RonxHermione is a good pairing? They have NOTHING in common, (except maybe their love and support for Harry.)

And Harry? He's been through so much and pairing him with someone before he's dealt with that feels forced and unhealthy.

That being said, I could totally not against HarryxHermione. They have potential to happen but like in the future. Or even RonxHermionexHarry to some degree.

I really do wish LunaxHarry was explored. I think they had a lot of potential and even some things in common that would make them great together.

And I don't understand how anyone could ship Draco with anyone. Except maybe Percy because they are both insufferable. And they deserve to be miserable together. 🤣

Tldr: I hate Ginny and while JKR is a great writer she isn't a ship writer. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

They all need to be single until they've gone through therapy.

I’m going to try playing the first Dragon Age again because of you.

There’s always a point in the main campaign where my party can’t deal with something and I just quit on it. But I think I’m gonna try and be better and finish it this time.

Oh, nice! I say that whatever Dragon Age game I'm playing at the moment is my favorite, so it's hard to tell what is actually true, but I do really love Origins. I get way too immersed in it every time I play. This is a long way of saying good luck, but good luck! I hope you can get past that tough spot this time and if you want to tell me your opinions as you run into stuff, I'd love to hear them.

Disclaimer: not really a drabble, but I hope this follows the prompt.

I Almost Lost You

Maya Hart thought she would never love anyone. She thought she be alone and if she did find someone she probably would’ve been left. That’s what usually happened to her; then she met Lucas Friar. She only had seen him as a friend all through 7th grade, but in the beginning of 8th grade, she noticed something. She started to develop feelings for him. Now, this whole “triangle” situation happened and she didn’t know what to do. Now they were at the Mountain Ski Lodge. She went down the stairs to the lobby and saw Lucas talking to Riley. She sighed. She couldn’t understand what was going on exactly, but when Lucas got up.

“Maya,” she heard Lucas’ voice.

“Yes, Lucas,” she asked, nervous.

“Can we talk?” she nodded and then went to the other side of the lobby. They sat down in front of the fireplace. “So about this triangle thing…”

“What about it?”

“Do you not like me anymore?” he asked, looking serious.

“What?” she was caught off guard. Was this his way of ending this triangle?

“I saw you talking to Josh, and I know you like him and all…”

“Lucas,” she started. He stopped talking and listen knowing she only used his real name when it’s serious. “Remember what I said about Boing? He’s just a fantasy…I really like you, Lucas. Have since 8th grade started. I really want to officially date you, but you and Riley seem a better match-“

“-Maya.”

“Yeah?”

“I broke it off with Riley.”

“Wait, why?”

“I needed to officially end this because seeing you talk to Josh made me open my eyes. I did make a choice and it was you.” Maya was genuinely shocked. No one ever picked her.

“Why me? I always thought you picked Riley or some other girl over me.”

“Because when I saw you talking to Josh; I knew I almost lost you.” Maya was close to crying. They hugged.
