I can finally announce a fun joint project I've been working on!! A 'burlesque' version of Galaxia, from Sailor Moon! Galaxia was one of my first costumes when I was a little cosplay babby, so it's been so awesome to get to touch on her again! And also I apparently can't ever do enough Sailor Moon themed cosplays! CosplayFabrics.com kindly sponsored all of the gorgeous fabric for this costume, and I just think it's SO beautiful!! I was struggling with what to make, when my incredibly talented friend NoFlutter suggested designing a new Galaxia for me! I love all of her designs so much, of course I was immediately like HECK YES PLEASE. For the fabrics, it's all Dual Fantasy White/Gold Dupioni (which you can order from CosplayFabrics or pick up at Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores)!! I wefted 2 wigs together for more fullness and length, but decided to avoid Galaxia's ankle length hair...wigs that long just turn into a nest, for me just getting a lovely, long gradient was more important than fighting a hot mess of wig hair! I hand colored all of my gems and jewelry (tutorials available!), and the boots have shoes in my size permanently built into them. I added lots of crystals and beads, and Robby Idol Photography took some fantastic shots, I can't wait to get them all back!! Please note: The gorgeous NoFlutter art you see is just a sketch for ideas she gave me, I took my own liberties and she will be finishing a final beautiful art for her Patrons only!! I honestly expect to sell this costume soon, as I have quite a few costumes I'm looking to finish shooting and sell, my move showed me I really need to continue downsizing costumes quite a bit, at the moment. Dyeing wigs - before and after

There isn´t a lot of things that bother me more than recieving a blonde wig and it´s yellow.

So I had this little beauty here that I decided I was going to dye it. I´ve tried tea / coffee dyEing before with very little result, so I decided I was going to try out acrylic paint. Not ink, just paint. 

I poured brown paint in a bucket, poured boiling water in it, stirred, and dumped the wig in. Then I put a lid on and let it be until the water had cooled down. It was a very simple process and I adore the result. 

An added bonus was, that the hair seemed to get darker around the seems, so the wig now has natural-looking roots!

I am definitely going to be dyeing a lot more of my blonde wigs in the future!

So @awkwardjas asked me about how I dyed this wig, so I thought I’d make a mini tutorial about my Wig dying process. I used the FW Acrylic Ink/Rubbing alcohol/surgical spirit. I’ve heard that you need 91% isopropyl, but I bought normal surgical spirit at the pharmacy and it worked well enough.

According to the tutorials I found, you should use 1 cup of surgical spirit mixed with 8 to 10 squirts of the ink - there a dropper in the lid of the ink which you can use to suck up ink. I’ve been warned against using colours containing white ink, so I used a cerulean for the blue tail, and a mix of red and pearlescent pink for the other tail (8: 2 ratio of red to pink ink).

I mixed the ink in old jar and carefully dipped the ponytails in. Later I transferred the mixture into old plastic and styrofoam trays (the kind you get frozen meat in - clean it first!)

I left the wig to dye overnight, then carefully rinsed out each tail in the sink - it’s made of ceramic so is much easier to clean than the plastic bath. While I rinsed the blue tail, I used a hair clip and a plastic bag to keep the red tail from dripping everywhere. I rinsed out the ponytails with a mixture of shampoo and fabric softener. 

Once they tails were dry I combed them with a wig comb. Be warned that if you use normal detangling spray it may lift some of the colour from the dyed wig, and it also gave my blue tail a strange texture. In general wigs dyed with this method have a slightly rough texture, but if you rinse them thoroughly they should be fine.

I’m storing this wig with the ponytails plaited-it gives a nice wavy texture and stops them tangling.

So can you help me out with Harley Quinn's (Suicide Squad version) boot and how to make the dipdye on a wig?

Those are certainly interesting heels! I would find a comfortable base that has that height and then work on a pair of boot / shoe covers for it. You can use paper to create a pattern and then build it out with foam wrapped in vinyl/pleather for the thick parts, and just the vinyl/pleather for the rest. With the wig there are two ways people generally dye: ink dye and fabric dye.With the ink method you could colour directly on the wig and then spray with rubbing alcohol so that it runs a bit. You could also put the ink with alcohol in a spray bottle and spray it on. Then let it dry for 24-48 hours (let that alcohol evaporate) and rinse the wig in water. There is more info about ink dye methods here. 

With the fabric dye method you can dip it in the pot such as in this tutorial, to get the fade. Hope this helps!
