Day 14: What is a recent whump obsession of yours?

as far as media goes, my latest whumpy obsession is the pitt!! I haven’t written anything yet but I loveeee reading fics, I’m particularly enamored by langdon and this leads me into one of my recent trope obsessions which is drugging!! especially when it happens to a character who has struggled with addiction before…there’s a couple characters I’m rotating in my mind when it comes to this trope with langdon currently being the main one. also i wanna add one more thing, which is a trope i never thought I’d get into - sexual assault. it’s something i avoided reading and writing about for a long time but lately I’m finding it very compelling and intriguing!

Day 14: Recent Obsession

My partner made me watch Gravity Falls several months ago, and I imagine she probably regrets that decision a bit because Ford Pines has become a new favorite whumpee. I am obsessed with The Book of Bill and all the whump featured in the lost journal pages section. Especially the page where Bill erases all of Ford's memories and then puts them back just to remind Ford who holds all the power in their deal? I'll be thinking about that page for the rest of forever. And the amount of incredible whump the fandom has come up with is truly astounding. You have no idea how many horrifically whumpy billford fics I've read and written.

Day 14: What is a recent whump obsession of yours?

It's actually been a while since I've been properly obsessed with something whump related, so I'll tell you about a whump-adjacent passion I have.

I really love the noir genre and detective stories, specifically those classic post-WWII private eye stories in the 40s/50s.

I have two noir stories in that setting that I'm working on right now, one about a Deaf PI and another about a PI with DID. I find it fun to consider how each of these traits affects their work and specific way of life. It's a lot of interesting research too.

One of the scenes I have mapped out for the first story is where the PI, who's been poking around too much in the local mob boss's business for a case, gets kidnapped and taken to a warehouse to see the boss. The boss is trying to interrogate the PI but the PI obviously can't understand him and they don't yet know he's deaf. The boss is ready to kill him when he's finally able to convey he can't hear. The boss then makes sure the PI understands him perfectly clear where he threatens to kill him slowly and painfully if he ever interferes in his business again. They dump him in a deserted alleyway afterwards.

Noir always has such great whump potential. I'm enjoying writing these stories.

DAY 14: RECENT OBSESSION

In a word? Supernatural.

augh my friend got me into this show and its so good. Castiel my beloved. Sam my beloved. Dean my beloved. Ive never met men so consistently capable of making me cry & giving me whumperflies. they r all so gorgeous

All of ur blorbos are gonna Go Through It. Fair warning your blorbos might also die. but there's a non-zero chance they come back! I mean the main 2 have died like 4 or 5 times apiece (not even including Mystery Spot) and im not even halfway thru the show.

theyre gonna get punched and possessed and broken-boned and they are also going to cry and have trust issues and all manner of everything ever. And sick technically! there hasn't been a real sickfic episode yet but there IS an apocalypse and one of the four horsemen IS pestilence, so...

Day 14: What is a recent whump obsession of yours?

Weirdly enough, knives and needles. Like, both are somewhat squicks of mine. I don't like a lot of things related to medical whump (like vivisection and dissection) or with a lot of blood. Just a personal thing.

But the image of a whumper using a knife to make wounds+scars like a tattoo artist would is making my whump brain happy. And in the rp chat, the idea of injections/shots roulette was introduced, which then made me think of drugging one of my whumpees (Anna from Owning Her Future) with a cocktail injection, which has been where my thoughts have been for the past day, lol. I mean, hey, making my whumpee also have a severe fear of needles, why not? XD
