News Sites For Language Learners and Multilingual People
Reading the news can be a very good way of practising a language and multilingual news services can also be invaluable for many linguistic communities around the world.
Here are a few which I have found:
BBC: this is a British public service which is available in several languages from around the world, including Igbo, Yoruba, Hausa, Swahili, Somali, Kinyarwanda/Kirundi, Tigrinya, Amharic and Oromo.
Wikinews: this is a free unbiased source of news. It is currently available in over twenty languages but not in any African languages at the moment.
Deutsche Welle: this is a German public service available in thirty languages, including Amharic, Hausa and Swahili.
Global Voices: this is a citizen-led news site in many languages, including Igbo, Yoruba, Swahili and Malagasy.
I only included sites which are in many languages, not only three or four.
