Riad ou ryad é a designação dada a casas ou palacetes que constituem o habitat tradicional das almedinas (centros urbanos históricos) de Marrocos. Entre as suas características mais marcantes incluem-se o facto de serem completamente fechadas para o exterior e se estruturarem em volta de um pátio interior central, normalmente ajardinado, segundo o modelo tipicamente árabe-andaluz, que tem origem na villa urbana romana. O termo significa jardim em árabe e é o mesmo que designa a capital da Arábia Saudita, Riade, o que está relacionado com o facto dos pátios funcionarem como jardins, tendo árvores plantadas e dispondo de uma fonte. As salas e quartos abertos para esse pátio (bou’h ou menzeh) beneficiam pelo efeito refrescante do jardim. A antiga cidade romana de Volubilis mostra como a arquitetura de riades teve início durante a Dinastia Idríssida, a primeira dinastia árabe de Marrocos (788–974). Ameaçados pela ruína devido ao acto dos seus residentes preferirem mudar-se para os novos bairros modernos, abandonando os centros históricos e os seus riades, desde a década de 1990 que estes têm vindo a despertar mais atenção e de vontade de salvaguarda, seja razões culturais, seja principalmente por razões turísticas. Quizás una de las cosas que más agradan de Tunja es el verdor del paisaje, el clima acogedor que, aunque un poco frío (típico del departamento de Boyacá) se suavisa con el calor humano y la hospitalidad de sus habitantes.  Ir a Tunja es como hacer un  viaje en la historia. La arquitectura colonial se puede observar en  los alrededores, como la plaza Bolívar rebosante de palomares, las calles empedradas, la bella catedral de Tunja de aspecto renacentista, y la iglesia de Santo Domingo, considerada una de las más bellas y artísticas de Latinoamérica. Allí se  pueden admirar los detalles que no se desvanecen con el tiempo. Esta arquitectura viste el centro de la capital del Departamento de Boyacá, con un aire de solemnidad, al cual se une también las tradiciones representadas en las artesanías que encontramos en los numerosos negocios culturales de los alrededores del casco histórico, y donde puedes degustar los deliciosos dulces típicos, tejidos, cestería, entre otros. One of my favorite places are the mountains of Abruzzo. I felt at home being where the sheep sprinkle the rolling grass and cows lazily graze the jagged cliffs. You can run or hike for hours and probably pass one shepherd. At the end of the day, I crave arrosticini, juicy Abruzzese lamb skewers fired over coals while sampling pecorino di Farindola, sheep cheese made exclusively by women from a small mountainous area, in the heart of the National Park of Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga. The food and wine taste of the land that is known as "true Italy", where the livelihood of the Abruzzese is earned daily without much change from the traditions that forged Italy's culture. Abruzzo is not a tourist haven.
