went fossil hunting, found very few fossils but decided I’ve thought about trying to process wild clay enough times I might as well do it. it’s a nice color. brought chunks home in my Wawa sub wrapper

I found some delightfully pure clay deposits at Jay Cooke and decided to make A Little Man out of it!
Made a little mulie from clay and painted him. I haven't worked with clay in years so I think he came out decently cute antlers are very wonky though. Bucks I based him on are the picture and antlers in the background.

wild clay
After following your blog for a while and seeing all the pretty work you do, I was inspired to try sculpting with clay myself. I wanted to make a similar but bigger version of the bison pendant you made earlier, that I could display on my bookshelf. Sadly it broke down during firing. The wild clay I used was very bad quality and difficult to work with. I believe that was the main cause for the failure.
Oh no I'm so sorry the clay had issues but happy I could inspire. Please don't let the setback hold you back- wild clay is a true beast and it is very very difficult to make a workable firable clay from it depending on lots of factors.
If you'd like you can dm me or email me and I would be happy to discuss and help if I can, I have some experience with making wild clay into a workable clay body before! Its definitely worth the effort, it's so beautiful and there's nothing better than clay the earth made :3
