Bust a Groove & GrindFiction
I always felt like Bust a Groove had some of the early depictions of Grind Fiction before it was created. Bust a Groove has alot of city based themes with a huge variety of songs that capture many feelings, not to mention the way the characters were drawn always reminded me of the Jet Set Radio Vector art.
I cant help but wonder if Bust a Groove should be included in the Grind Fiction scene, since it does lack a huge emphasis on rebellion, street life, and Such despite it beind a part of many characters and their themes (Strike, Kelly, and Members of Jumbo Max are just a few examples.). Another thing i wonder is that if Bust a Groove had a chance to grow, would it be able to fall under Grind Fiction media? We already know its horrid run where it started off strong before Dance Summit 2001 was made to only be limited to Japan and such, and well..clearly they had an IDEA for the game, just went so horrid. (Someone on Reddit said they wished the game got picked up by SEGA, and I firmly stand by that.)
For now, my take is that Bust a groove was one of the earliest depictions of Grind Fiction in the making before Jet Set Radio.
