Southbound Denali Star from Fairbanks to Anchorage has just departed from Denali National Park station on Independence day. It is seen here crossing the Riley Creek Trestle just as the clouds part to bathe the valley in sunshine. July 04, 2010
Two SD70MACs up front wheel the southbound Denali Star at nearly 60 MPH through the wilds of Ft. Richardson Army Base as they approach the home signal at the north end of Reves siding, MP 129.2 and only 15 miles out of Anchorage. The passengers' 12 hr and 356 mile journey from Fairbanks may be nearly over, but the scenery surely hasn't let up. The Chugach Mountains provide a spectacular backdrop regardless of whether you're riding in an ARR, Royal Celebrity Tours, Holland America, or Princess Tours coach. Eagle River, AK May 31, 2009
