Loudclan - Moon 33: Part 4

A blizzard takes the clan by surprise. Without clear orders from their leader, newly appointed deputy Dancesun orders them to bed down near the blackwater as their remaining leadership decides what to do next.

Taking what little shelter they can find from the screaming wind, debate amongst the lead healer and lead mediator eventually boils over into bitter arguement regarding what to do about their missing clanmates Owlstar, Siltsplash, and Rosehiptree.

[We're so back people. This moon definately got chopped up more than I would have liked it to due to... reasons, but I'm glad to finally give Dancesun his time to shine! He's completely out of his depth but he's going to do his best and follow his Ama's example. I had a little to much fun doing the cold breath in this installment and shockingly despite the incredibly long spans of time between starting and finishing I am quite happy with all of the art. Just... don't pay attention to how different Tundrafrost looks from panel to panel. The shape of his head refuses to obey my me. Dialouge for the next two installments has already been written so I can jump into illustrating them promptly and hopefully get through this monster of a moon.]

Uhhhh anyway I am going insane over @loudclan-clangen and the newest update??? I’ve been following this story for uh. A while now I think. But after the latest update and the Everything that Wildfirecry got up to I was smacked VERY HARD with the visual of him ending up with an apron of blood instead of his usual apron of oil. Aaaand here we are.

Love how I managed to make clangen fanart before an actual moon of my own clangen story. adhd be like that. (If you like my artstyle and want to see what I do when I get up to it it’s @as-the-raven-cries-wolf bc RavenClan as a blog name was taken lol)

The first one was supposed to be a discord-friendly version bc discord gets fussy when I use too much detail, the second one is me drawing out his oil apron before I turned it into a blood one. It was really interesting trying to translate D’s style and design sensibilities nicely into the way I draw cats, the tufting and more squared-off jaw especially, but it was really fun, picking and choosing what and how to translate, and some things to just keep the same (like the eyes, with a little thematic twist).

Loudclan - Moon 33: Part 1

Outside, a frost takes hold of everything, freezing dead leaves onto their branches before they have time to drop. Inside, the warmth of the healer's den provides little comfort to its inhabitants. Weed succumbed to redcough in the night, passing in her sleep at 144 moons old. Her sons, Cavedew and Erminepaw, are left devastated.

Cavedew and Erminepaw are no longer on speaking terms.

[Well, we all knew this was coming. Apologies regardless. I STRUGGLED through this sketch but I really like the panels I ended up with. Sometimes its worth it to scrap an idea or two until you get to something that works. Anyway, this moon is a bit of a monster and this will likely be the shortest part, so buckle up!]

Loudclan - Moon 28: Part 1

As the last months of spring begin to fade into summer, the days grow longer, and the sun begins to beat down on the exposed Loudclan camp, turning young minds to thoughts of a more serious futrue. Songkit asks to speak to Owlstar.

Songkit has chosen to train as a healer, thus removing him from the line of succession. Though it may not be what he would have chosen otherwise, Songkit feels a weight lifted off of his shoulders.

[Me and this moon have beef, let me tell you. It was not meant to be two parts but I am slowly losing the plot in regards to cat anatomy so I need to buy myself time to do some studies so that drawing doesn't feel like wading thru lava. Anyway, regardless of how not fun this one was to draw, I do like the end result! Look at my baby boy! Does he have well adjusted and healthy feelings about his parentage? NO! Is he trying his best? Yes! And that's all we can ask of him, really.]

Loudclan - Moon 29: Part 2

Back in camp, the warm weather gives the healers a chance to relax, and puts Wildfirecry in a particularly good mood, reminding him of his former home in Forestclan, far to the south.

Wildfirecry takes Songpaw out to look for Fiercestripe's patrol. Along the way they discuss what's really been on Songpaw's mind.

The scent of blood sits heavy in the still air. With Songpaw sent back to camp for help, Wildfirecry steels his nerves and rushes ahead, prepared to join the battle against whomever had made the mistake of tresspassing onto Loudclan's territory. As he neared the Loudclan border, though, it became clear that the battle was long finished.

Fiercestripe, Chumtail, Dogwoodmoth, and Dashpaw were killed in the rogue attack, taking 4 of their attackers with them. Rosehiptree managed to survive by staying hidden in the bushes, but she is by no means unscathed. Loudclan is devastated by this event, and will need time to mourn, but on the other side of the valley, three trespassers thank the stars for whatever might have delayed their pursuers.

[...so ... how are we feeling about this one, folks? bad? yeah, I feel bad. full disclosure, if Eklutna dying was the moon that I decided I wanted to keep playing Loudclan, this was the moon that almost made me quit. I was and continue to be DEVASTATED by losing these guys, Fierce, Dogwood, and Chum were some of my all time favorites as I played and I fell in love all over again writing their stories here. (Sorry Dash, you just weren't around long enough for me to get attached.) In game technically Fiercestripe died of heatstroke, but since it was the same moon as the rogue attack this felt like a much more fitting way for her to go. Anyway, I think one more part should wrap up this moon, and my deepest apologies to you all.]
