so applespots, the cat in the last image, asked starclan for nine lives despite not being leader. she was denied of course, but nine rouge starclan spirits heard of her idea and decided they wanted to experiment with it. so in secret they gave her nine lives, and applespots realized why they dont give nine lives to every cat.

a small headcanon i have about receiving nine lives is with each life received you must relive the death of the cat you gain the life from
clouddawn and ryespeckle are both from riverclan but from different eras. clouddawn was poisoned for trying to investigate the circumstances that made the latest leader of her clan leader. ryespeckle is the rare spectacle of a cat living a full and uneventful life.
mousepatch and cherryclaw are from thunderclan but different eras. mousepatch was a freshly made warriors when a flood ran through the thunderclan camp where he sadly drowned. cherryclaw was a fierce warrior and was hit by a car while chasing shadowclan cats over the road.
lavenderfoot, mossyheart, and flailfeather are from windclan, the first two from the same era. lavenderfoot was a medicine cat of his clan, the leader was cruel and didnt allow him to get close to him, never knowing how many lives his leader had left. his leader also didnt allow him to take warrior escorts with him while herb gathering, which is why lavenderfoot ended up getting attacked by a fox and dying. mossyheart heard of lavenderfoots unnecessary death and started leading a revolution against her leader, during the commotion, she was thrown offf a cliff end, dying. flailfeather, while being from windclan, isnt from the same era as the other two. he rescued an apprentice from being carried off by a hawk, being carried off himself. they keep the shoulder scars as a badge of honor
hollowsage and spottedcrawl are from shadowclan and the same era. it was a harsh leafbare, hollowsong succumbed to illness while spottedcrawl lived long enough to see the clan starving. the scars on spottedcrawls face is from fighting its own clanmate over food, having lost, she ended up passing
