"I did what I needed to do, Garrett.  I did what everyone else in the DA would have done if they were in my position.  I thought you, of all people, would understand,” she shot back, shaking her head slightly.  “I had to make it seem like I was loyal to Slytherin and everyone in it.  I had to protect my cover.  If you really think I enjoyed hurting Neville in order to do that, then you clearly don’t know me as well as I thought you did.”

  the question caught him slightly by surprise.  normally garrett passed new years’ in ireland with his cousins and siblings — this year though, everyone in his family seemed to have their own plans, which left garrett with remarkably little to do, even staying at the castle.  ❛ yeah, all right.  where’s it at? ❜

“My house,” she said, though Highgarden was more castle than house. Margaery had long since learned that using the manor’s proper title either left people feeling envious and awed or put off by the pretentiousness of it--and she had pegged Garrett to be the latter type. “There will be a massive fireworks show at midnight, so big and loud that our more secluded neighbors make complaints every year.”

Before she could do more to persuade him, Mr. Fortescue came by with their hot ciders. The mug was still hot to the touch so she left it for the nonce and grinned up at Garrett. “Might want to wear dress robes if you have them but no worries--it won’t be all posh nonsense.”

     ❛ we’re supposed to hate each other. ❜ she whispers this by way of a greeting, setting her stack of books on the table and takes the chair across from him. the library is fairly empty but she still throws a furtive glance over her shoulder to make sure madam pince isn’t lurking. ❛ but i’ve always FOUND THAT DUMB. anyways—- we have to do this project together so we might as well get on while doing it ❜
