I guess this counts as a Part II (Part I HERE) of your @aftgexchange gift, haha. I have a lot of thoughts on Andrew’s gifts. It was definitely the hardest to think of and I’m still not sure if it all makes sense, but this is what I had:

He gets Andrew an ice cream maker, as well as a ton (A TON) of ingredients to use with it so that Andrew has a good jumping off point.

Andrew eats a lot of ice cream, but almost every time they go to the store for more, whether it’s during the day or past midnight, he almost always makes some kind of comment or face or Neil can just tell that he wishes there were more/different flavors. So ice cream maker.

Neil sees it a couple of weeks before he goes Christmas shopping for the rest of the foxes and immediately buys it.

As the holiday gets closer, he begins picking up more and more ingredients for it. He has to stow them in at Abby’s house, in her second fridge/freezer because otherwise he is sure that Andrew will find all of it/eat the small candy pieces.

One day when he’s out getting more ingredients, he also sees a blanket that is quite possibly the softest blanket he’s ever encountered in his entire life. So he buys that, too. He figures they can keep it with the beanbags, since (in moments when he’s half asleep and is being soft) Andrew will pull his own blankets over to the beanbag and nestle himself in it.

Neil’s not sure a new blanket is necessary, but it’s black and soft and he buys it for Andrew anyway.

(I feel like Neil gets Andrew a lot of stuff, but those are my major two things that I was thinking about).

Also stockings (because I firmly believe that these boys exchange stockings) and while Neil mostly fills it to the brim with every kind of candy Andrew loves, he also puts in some other knick-knacks.

This includes some phone charms (there is in fact a little fox phone charm, and also a little teeny plastic knife phone charm and a ton of phone charms) that Andrew rolls his eyes at when he sees them. He picks them up and examines each one carefully before staring at Neil, exasperated.

Three days later, Neil notices that Andrew has attached two of the charms to his phone and he smiles so much.

The stocking also included a new black beanie as well as a pair of black fingerless gloves, because why not, and just a ton of small things that have made Neil think of Andrew over the past month or so.

He stopped in front of Andrew's door but couldn't make himself knock. His hand was shaking when he looked at it, so he balled it into a fist. He'd almost gotten up the nerve to move when the door opened without warning. “Oh, he made it,” Andrew said. “That’s interesting.” He pressed two fingers to Neil’s throat, checking his p u l s e. When Neil tried to bat him away, Andrew caught his wrist with his free hand. His smile was small and fierce as he leaned forward into Neil’s space. “Remember this feeling. This is the moment you stop being the rabbit.” Neil was too startled to answer, but Andrew didn’t wait.

the sportscasters are going NUTS when kevin and neil turn on the post game highlights

andrew slams the tv off on his way out

even though andrew is gone kevin speaks in french

he doesnt want to risk getting stabbed

his tone is hopeful but almost disbelieving when he says

he could be Court

they both knew he always had the potential

but now their dreams are becoming an actual possibility

so neil just says

he will be

D: What’s the most personal fanfic you’ve written? ummm probably Inertia because I sometimes have days like I wrote andrew having here. not to the same extreme but I sometimes need prompting into how to be like…a person again lol. but I guess they’re all a little personal in a way because I wrote them :)

E. What character do you identify with most?  Is there a certain fic of yours that captures these qualities particularly well? honestly I can’t think of a single character that I wholly identify with. characters often have traits that I can relate to but because of their backgrounds or whatever might be I’d find it hard to identify as a whole…if that makes any sense? (it probably doesn’t lol). so as for the second part of the question…sometimes I project things that I have thought/have happened to me, but there isn’t one particular fic that I do this in, there’s probably a few.

H. How would you describe your writing style? oh man…mediocre at best haha. I dunno really, it’s hard to self-analyse I guess. but I probably overuse dialogue at the expense of descriptions etc just because I like writing dialogue more and I find it easier.

J. What’s your favorite fanfic trope?  Have you written it? coffeeshop aus are always fun but I’ve never written one. does generalised fluff count as a trope? because if it does then that’s my favourite and YES I’ve written loads of fluff :)

L. Which of your fanfics was the most emotionally challenging to write? writing wymack’s POV of all the shit his foxes have been through was pretty tough, and also writing him finding out kevin is his son (all in Yes, Coach). also there’s a few sad moments in a couple of my pynch fics, I Know You Know and there’s bones in my closet, but you hang stuff anyway

N.Any fic ideas brewing that you’d care to share? I still have some prompts left to do and after that I think I want to do a renee prequel to The Road to Nowhere, and maybe something jerejean from that universe too :)

Q. Do you like getting prompts from your readers? absolutely!

R. Which writers (fanfic or otherwise) do you consider the biggest influence on you and your writing? I dunno if I could name any specifics influence wise because I think I’m more likely to be influenced subconsciously depending on what I’ve been reading the most of at any particular time. but there’s writers whose stuff is always so good that I’ll read anything new they post as soon as I see it, like @annawrites and @ellipsesetcetera (fanfic wise). as for non-fanfic, my tastes are wide and varying!

T. Any fanfic tropes you can’t stand? there are a lot of tropes that I don’t tend to like but there are definite exceptions, it really depends on how well they’re written. I don’t really like hogwarts AUs in general despite how much I love harry potter? I think they just make me wish I was actually reading harry potter instead lol. I do like the one @annawrites wrote though. ummm… alpha/beta/omega dynamics fics are totally not my jam at all. omg I actually have loads it would take too long to name them all haha. (again this isn’t to say there’s no good fics to be found that cover these tropes, it’s just that they’re not usually my thing)

V. Are there certain comments you’ve received on your stories that have stuck with you? yeah totally! anytime anyone ever tells me that they think my characterisation is spot on is always a good comment to get. someone commented on the road to nowhere that my interpretation of andrew was their favourite they’d ever encountered in a fic and that was pretty awesome to hear :) anyone singing my praises is a-ok with me haha.

Y. What are your thoughts on your personal satisfaction with something you’ve written vs. the popularity of your stories?  Do you tend to be most satisfied with your most popular stories? this is a VERY GOOD question. you can never tell how well something you’ve written is going to be received so it can be a little disappointing if something you’re proud of doesn’t get as much feedback as you were hoping. but then again things resonate with people in different ways. the fic for AFTG that I’m most satisfied with is still yes, coach, which although was decently well received it didn’t do amazingly well? my most popular fic (if you’re just going off kudos) is the road to nowhere but it’s not my favourite – it has parts I love but looking back at it there’s some consistency, character, and world-building issues which are pretty glaring. none of my oneshots have done that well but I really love a couple of them: Time Awaits and oh, this life I choose in particular. there’s a couple of my pynch fics that I’m really proud of too, but again, in the grand scheme of things none of them have done amazingly well, and the one with the most kudos isn’t even my favourite. as long as I’m relatively happy with what I’ve written, I try not to let it bother me if it gets hardly any kudos lol. so in short, no, I don’t in general tend to be most satisfied with my most popular stories, but that’s just how the cookie crumbles :)
