While I was sleeping, I came up with headcanons about how our characters from The Freak Circus sleep. Then I thought of some unique details about their eight-hour nighttime rest.
Pierrot:
He has a rather cute pajama, for example, with strawberries. He used to sleep hugging a pillow or the edge of a blanket. But now he has a dakimakura featuring his love interest, exactly their height. Sometimes he might even whisper their name in his sleep, as they are always on his mind.
Harlequin:
He usually sleeps on his stomach and gives his tentacles full freedom. He doesn’t wear separate pajamas because he thinks it’s silly, so he either sleeps naked or in shorts. His phone is usually near his head. He spends half the night scrolling through social media or browsing interesting channels!
Jester:
This isn't just any pajamas, but an entire silk outfit for a king that he irons every night. He also has a sleep mask with the word "Mommy" on it, which Harlequin gave him, and surprisingly, he kind of likes it. He turns from side to side all night and talks in his sleep. But if a green jester appears in his dreams near the kitchen, he wakes up immediately! XD
Ticket Taker:
He usually sleeps late and doesn’t get much rest. He has a simple pajama or just a shirt with shorts. He normally sleeps on his side at the edge of the bed. Why? It’s a habit, I think. But if he gets suddenly awakened, he might fall. I don’t think he snores or talks in his sleep, but you can hear him breathing loudly. He’s easy to wake up; any rustling can open not just his white eye… but also his blue one.
Doctor:
I wish I knew how he sleeps—ahem! I don’t think he uses his bed much; yes, he has one, but it isn’t used often. He has a chair in his tent where he dozes off. I imagine there’s a rack for his cloak and robe next to the chair. With his arms crossed and head tilted back, he snores quietly. But since he wears a mask, it’s hard to tell if he’s actually sleeping or just lying there.

♡ The two of you found out about your pregnancy thanks to Pierrots hearing: He was laying on your chest, listening to your steady heartbeat (that gave him so much comfort) when he suddenly heard... something else? Was that... a second heartbeat? Small and weak but undeniably the typical rhythmic beating of a heart could be heard coming from the lower part of your body. Pierrot quickly lifted his head to stare into your now wide open eyes. His gaze shifted uncoordinated between your lower tummy and face, not able to say anything. A worried "Whats the matter Pierrot? Are you ok?" left your lips as you tried to make sense out of his odd behaviour. Pierrot was so shocked his soft, weak voice could only stutter "M-my dear... A-are you.. preg-pregnant??" "...WHAT?!"
⚝ Since the child would be half-monster and Pierrot as the father (who is really strong) I think your baby would be a lot stronger than the average human baby. That sadly means their kicks are gonna hurt way more :( and Pierrot would feel so guilty and apologize every single time he sees your pain-stricken face, offering to massage you or make you a hot-water bottle </3
♡ When your bump was starting to show Pierrot was too scared to talk to it because of his voice. But after some persistent encouragement from you he starts talking to your child daily and even tells them (bedtime)stories while gently caressing your rounder belly and kissing it (he would also play his favourite pop songs and lofi playlists so the two or rather three (?) of you could relax <3)
⚝ Pierrot would develop a VERY bad and expensive habit of wanting to buy every baby-item he lays his eyes on, toys, cute little outfits, blankets, pacifiers, bottles, it doesnt matter HE WANTS THEM ALL (Ticket Taker was so pissed at him after seeing the bill of Pierrots first shopping trip, so much so that he forbid Pierrot from spending even 1 centavo (smallest currency in brazil) for over a month)
♡ Pierrot is already a very protective and rather possesive lover but once you are pregnant? It gets a hundred times worse. He starts to growl at people when you are outside and he deems them too close to you (theres a perfectly normal distance between you and them), he would be constantly touching you but mostly by putting his hand on your lower back to support you a little bit, biting you on visible places like your wrists would be a daily occurance
⚝ It drives Pierrot insane with how horny he gets when he sees you pregnant, a small innocent touch is enough to make him pant pathetically, he especially loves it when you two lay on your sides, him right behind your back, so he can hold your round belly and fuck you slow and deep
♡ It would fill Pierrot with a warm and fuzzy feeling knowing that he really marked you from the inside out, you are truly his and he is wholeheartedly yours and he wouldnt have it any other way <3
⚝ I hc that Pierrot is some kind of canine monster and therefore its in his instincts to groom, lick and nuzzle his mate (you), once your pregnancy is known this habits skyrockets, at night when no one else is near and the two of you lay in your shared bed Pierrot is licking your cheek, tummy and chest, covering every inch of your body with his kisses and pressing his whole face into your body to deeply breath in your familiar and comforting smell (he just wants to drown in you)
♡ Pierrot sucking and licking your sensitive nipples so he can drink your milk, hearing your sweet moans and whimpers while also feeling your hand holding and stroking his head, he just loves you so much he wants to taste you so bad (it made him painfully hard when he tasted your milk for the first time)
⚝ So during a pregnancy between two humans its possible for the womans dna to change (this is known as microchimerism and could ex. turn her straight hair curly) so what iiiiiiiff you also change cause you got pregnant by a monster? Your sense of smell, sight and hearing getting more sensitive, craving more red meat, maybe getting more possesive of Pierrot, your own smell could also change slightly so that you smell more monster-like (?), it wouldnt be noticeable for other humans but BOY OH BOY do other monsters notice the change

♡ Pierrot would love to bottle feed his child, something about holding the little one close to his chest, listening to their small content noises and knowing that they and you are safe makes him feel at peace
⚝ Pierrot would try many different baby food recipes to find out would his child likes and dislikes (very attentive!)
♡ While laying on your shared bed, your child in the middle Pierrot whisped "Thank you for this precious gift my dear. I promise to always protect our little family no matter what happens." (you and the little one are already asleep)
⚝ I know this sounds delulu as hell but hear me out: Something inside of me deeply trusts Harlequin with the baby. After the baby was born and you were laying in bed with them you would offer Harlequin to hold them, arms already motioning in his direction. Pierrots head would instantly snap towards you thinking that he didnt hear you quite right and even Harley would let out a small, perplexed "..What?". But you just calmly nod to Pierrot to sooth his mind and insist that its okay. After carefully placing the small one on Harleys arms he wanted to stroke their chubby cheek. But the baby grabbed his much bigger finger and started nibbling on it. "Wow Pierrot look at that! Been on earth for only a couple of minutes but already wants to bite me. This is truly your child. " Harlequin joked with an unusually soft smirk/grin causing you to laugh and Pierrot to deadpan. Harley doesnt show it but the fact that you trust him this much with your new born baby means the world to him. (Could be a positive turning point for Pierrots and Harleys relationship)
♡ Harlequin would bond with your kid by teaching them harmless pranks and small ways on how to annoy the others, would stand in the background watching the little one get on Ticket Takers nerves while laughing his ass off, Pierrot would quickly put an end to this and scold Harley and his child (Pierrot cant stay mad at his kid for very long (they inherited his cuteness <3))
⚝ I think Jesters view of you would change slightly after the child was born, seeing that pure and unconditional love in your eyes when you look at the small bundle of joy and also Pierrot made him accept you more as part of their family (tho he would never say that out loud)
♡ Jester would jokingly call your child an "accident": "I havent seen our little accident all day. Where are they? I hope not causing any trouble with Harlequin hmm~" (He would only use the nickname when the kid wouldnt be near enough to hear him)
⚝ Once the baby wouldnt stop crying at night no matter what you and Pierrot did and all of a sudden Ticket Taker entered the red tent with a very tired and slightly annoyed expression, he took the baby from their crib and started to gently sway them in his arms while quietly singing a lullaby you nor Pierrot have ever heard. The loud screaming and crying stopped, Ticket Taker softly put them in their crib again and went back to his tent without saying a word, leaving Pierrot and you dumbfounded but ultimatly very grateful (you two wanted to thank him properly the next day but he acted as if nothing meaningful happened)
♡ Doctor would ask if he could do some research on your child, assuring that he would of course be very careful and never do anything that would hurt the little one (fearing that Pierrots uncontrollable wrath would otherwise meet him), afterall a human-monster-hybrid is extremely rare and the research results could greatly help with your childs health in the future and perhaps other monster-human-couples. So Pierrot and you hesitantly agree to Doctors proposal under the condition that Pierrot will be watching over his child while Doctor does the necesarry procedures
⚝ Pierrot would love to teach your kid how to fish just like his parents did with him <3 he would turn it into a whole family trip where everyone goes to the beach, you would relax on the sand enjoying the sun while he would be in the water with your child having fun, the trip would end with a big picnic with everyones favourite food that Pierrot prepared Harlequin would bring a water gun and teach the kid how to use it and tell them to shoot Pierrot

Pierrot
Food Play: It's a fact that Pierrot loves to bake and cook. It just seems fitting that he would have a Food Play kink. Imagine this, MC accidentally spills some of the dessert that Pierrot made for them. When Pierrot sees MC covered in whip cream and chocolate syrup, just the sight alone almost makes him cum... Absolute doormat. He literally folds if either of them reach out for him. Loves them so much he needs to hype himself up to hold them because they're just so tiny and ge doesn't wanna cut them with his claws or squeeze too tight or scare them with his smile or- yeah Sadie needs to interject and hand him the baby before he spirals.
On his knees when he heard the first cry and passed out when the second cry came. Jester had to be in the room to help coach Pierrot through it while Doctor guides Sadie.
Unique traits:
Started sprouting horns when around 5 years old. Definitely a painful experience. Camila has one while Carina has two. They're in perfect sync. Unfortunately can't do the twin swap pranks because of their distinctive horns.
Harlequin
One boy.
Gabriel
10 Years old
Lenient but not neglectful. A bad influence to the kid really, coaxing him to prank his other dad's since they can't be mad at a kid. He lent Sadie his hand and let them crush his hand during contractions.
Loves the kid to death, uses his tentacles to rock him to sleep or just multitask in general. The baby loves using his tentacles when he began to teeth and Harlequin just has to endure it.
Unique traits:
Has a tail that's more tentacle like instead of having them sprout from his back like Harlequin's. Sometimes has a mind of it's own and accidentally trips over himself because of them or even pull things without realising. Must be taught about how to control his strength after accidentally dragging almost a third of the tablecloth off the table after dinner.
Jester
Two boys and one girl. (All two years apart)
Javier, Emanuel and Samara
9 y/o, 7y/o and 5 y/o
The perfect father one would say. He didn't want children at first. The circus is constantly moving, it's not a kid friendly place to be, let alone raise in. But Sadie has a steady income with her new job that allows her to get a steady income with the constant moving. Perhaps he got a bit of baby fever after the twins were initially born, but worked up the courage to ask Sadie if he could have his own.
He definitely didn't mind caring for Pierrot and Harlequin's. They were his children as much as he was their other father. You can't blame him for wanting to see a mini version of himself. Three for that matter. Ended up having three and loves each one dearly.
Unique traits:
Natural little leaders. Very helpful and smart. Javier is always by Jester's side, helping him with set repairs while Emanuel and Samara handle costume changes.
Doctor
Triplets. (One boy, two girls)
Lucian, Rose and Tulip
1 y/o
Of course he wasn't a fan of kids either. Too small, too fragile, too naive. But the more children the other members had the more he learned how to navigate the baby gates and not trip over toys. Maybe he initially did want a kid but didn't plan for triplets to come out.
They came out a bit differently. Because of Doctor's anatomy, Sadie birthed eggs in the span of six months instead of the initial nine with the others. All three took a few weeks to hatch, just hours apart. And good god they were so inhumanely small Sadie was genuinely worried when they only fit the palm of her hand.
Doctor had to reassure her that when he hatched he was just as tiny. (She didn't believe him one bit. LOOK AT HIM.)
Unique traits:
Grows up quick (from 3 lbs to 25 lbs in the span of a year). Their feet are more talon-like and they all have a set of wings. Lucian in particular has feather tufts on his chest while the girls have a whole collar of their own. Must teach them to preen at an early age.
Ticket Taker

Luanne
4 y/o
Definitely didn't want kids. Probably the only one that had the kid as an accident since the condom ripped. He took responsibility fast, always checking in on Sadie. Keeping track of her whereabouts around the circus and what her diet consisted of. All the monsters did whenever she got pregnant but Ticket Taker was meticulous when it came to Sadie's health and his baby.
He loves his daughter dearly. Especially whenever she tries to grab for his hat. It reminds him of how Sadie teases him by taking his hat.
Unique traits:
Vitiligo, split face just like his mask. She can even hover in the air as if there was no gravity.
Poor Sadie got a fucking football team. (She loves it)
I know this probably didn't make any sense. I don't know what was going through my head when I made this to begin with aside from being bored.
Except I'm only doing pierrot today since I'm sleepy

Pierrot parent headcanons:
● since pierrots father abandoned him as a child, pierrot vowed to never do the same to HIS own kid
● on that note, if he doesn't check up on the little one, he freaks out and worries the kid will think he abandoned them
● he's a very emotional parent whenever his kid does something like walking/talking, even babbling, he'll break down sobbing
● he's TERRIFIED of his kid growing up and leaving to find their own family
● on that note , he's made it a plan to prepare his kid to be an acrobat, he wants this kid alongside him in the circus to be a future performer
● now his monster genetics are strong, so he adores any trait the kid has from YOU. Even if it's just your way of speech , maybe even your horrible humor, rarely is it ever a physical feature
New tfc headcanon for what stores the members frequently go to.
Harlequin shops at hot topic and goes through the snack section of grocery stores.
Jester and TICKETTAKER are fancy so they’ll get clothes tailor-made and probably would go to home depot together.
Doctor goes to Costco cause why not, plant and herb stores and CVS maybe.
Pierrot also shops at hot topic when harlequin isn’t looking or there ( green guy would absolutely make fun of him for any fashion choice he makes.) He also goes to home goods and target.
TFC scent headcanons! Some of these are more accurate to canon than others, and some of these are just wishful thinking hehe
I like to think all of the circus members smell like fabric or linen because their costumes cover almost every inch of their bodies, and they’re always around their tents! I also just really liked the idea of them all having some sort of universal scent tinge that unites them all in a small way.
These are actually very helpful for writing my fic, keeps things consistent and neat as references!
Tried to keep the MC’s scent as neutral as possible! I added the cigarette smell not only bc the MC in my fic is a smoker, but also to give them a sort of general “city” smell.
Also fun fact for Jester’s: Belladonna flowers are incredibly toxic, and cyanide is said to smell like bitter almonds tehe
