Live Laugh Love Annoying
requested? Nope, I was trying to write a little bit of my new wip and couldn’t stop thinking about jay responding live laugh love annoying in response of halstead!sisters newest catch phrase (which has coincidentally been my newest one today and I too find it annoying but can’t stop) so I wrote this little drabble
“Live Laugh Love hate this heat” you exclaimed while shutting the door. You had been out and about with some friends and Chicago temperatures were reaching the mid 90s.
“Weren’t you wishing for this back in January?” asked your brother Jay while he sipped on some coffee.
“I guess, but it’s not very live laugh love fun anymore”
Rolling his eyes, Jay went back to what he was doing.
Later that night, Will had called you to the dinner table and told you all about the upcoming weekend plans.
“What do you mean I have to stay with aunt Trudy and Uncle Mouch? I thought we were all going to the cabin!” you exclaimed!
“Y/N, we were, until a little birdy told me you were failing Summer school” stated Jay.
“Failing! That’s news to me!” you stated back.
“Look, we want you to come, but you there isn’t any more chances of making up school if you flunk out of Summer school!” diffused Will.
“Not my problem” you muttered.
“It will be when you are stuck repeating 6th grade when all your friends move to 7th and move onto the middle school building” responded Will, getting annoyed with his sister.
“How am I supposed to live laugh love in these conditions!” you bit back
“Live laugh love get over it!” bit Jay back getting annoyed with his sisters newest catch phrase.
“Ew, you just made it uncool” you whined
“Good, maybe you’ll stop cause its live laugh love annoying”

WILL HALSTEAD MASTERLIST
Will was having a terrible day.
It was just one of those days. A day where Will had lost his cup of coffee to a spillage in the lounge, followed by running from patient after patient, the difficult and rude patients seeming to outnumber the nice ones.
He’d lost track of time until Maggie had practically kicked him out for lunch once the stream of patients had finally died down. But the sight that greeted him when he walked into the cafeteria was one that sent little feelings of warmth shooting through his tired body.
There you sat, surrounded by your children and the only thing that crossed Will’s mind was that you were the real hero.
Sure, being a doctor was a noble profession. And sure, people always talked about doctors being heroes. But the real hero was sitting right there surrounded by four children that she took such good care of, she made it look so easy even though he knew it wasn’t.
“Daddy!” Ruby yelled, squirming off your lap, her small feet pattering towards her father.
Will let out a small laugh, the first real smile he’d had all day appearing on his face as he bent down so she could run straight into his arms.
He could see his three boys sitting up straight, AJ putting a hand over his head to wave enthusiastically at his father, Isaac leaning into his older brother so he could see, and his youngest boy Damian trying to stand on the chair.
Will chuckled, propping Ruby into his arms and hurrying towards the table before an accident happened.
“Hey, what are you guys doing here?” Will asked with a smile, leaning down to give a quick kiss.
You smiled and shrugged. “The kids wanted to see you for lunch and I thought a quick afternoon pick-me-up couldn’t hurt.” Your eyes scanned his expression. “Right?”
“You’re always right.” Will answered, sliding into a seat with Ruby still in his arms, smiling at his family.
THANK YOU FOR READING!! PLEASE TELL ME WHAT YOU THOUGHT OF THIS!!
You looked enchanting in the dim lighting of the kitchen. Your chin was perched upon your hand as you sipped diet coke from a wine glass.
Will found himself watching you as you and talked. He loved the way your face lit up when you laughed. The way your lips curved up and your vibrant eyes shone when your eyebrows arched. He missed that smile; it made the world seem brighter somehow.
You’d been away for almost a year on sabbatical, studying in Europe and the distance had wounded Will more than he cared to admit. The breakup had been mutual, the both of you realists when it came to the pitfalls of a long-distance relationship. It didn’t hurt any less, he struggled to sleep in your absence, he found himself searching for your face in the hallways of the hospital. He tried getting over you, having casual affairs with women he met in bars but they weren’t you, they didn’t even come close. When you’d text him to say you’d landed back in the US a few days ago, he had been eager to catch up even if it was just as friends.
Will rose to his feet to collect the dishes and you followed suit.
"Leave it, I'll do it. You cooked." Will urged you.
"God no, you helped." You protested.
You both reached for the same plate, your hand grasped his instead by accident, your body bumped against his. You were in his proximity again and this time he wasn't ready for it. He wasn't prepared enough to silence his emotions and slam the walls down between you.
He wasn't thinking straight as you looked into his eyes, your lips barely parted as your hand came to rest upon his chest, just over his heart to steady yourself. The warmth of your hand enclosed over his chest made it harder for him to resist as he found himself drowning in your gaze, not for the first time and certainly not for the last.
"Will..." you whispered, in that harsh ragged way that chased everything from his mind but the moment that the two of you were in.
Your eyes lowered to his lips, and he could see such a struggle in your face.
His mouth covered yours tentatively. Your lips met with the barest of touches but still you could feel his love for you in that kiss. All the emotions the two of you were hiding came bubbling back up to the surface. Your whole body was responding to him, you liked the way you fit together. You deepened the kiss, your tongue tracing the seam of his lips. His hands were gentle as they smoothed along the contours of your body through your clothing. You had missed this; you had missed him and the intimacy that he always generated. His hand came to cradle your face, his thumb lightly caressing the apple of your cheek.
"I want this again.” he murmured as he looked into your eyes. "My feelings they haven’t changed.”
You fingers tangled in his hair as you drew his mouth back to yours.
Request: Hi there, can I get a Will Halstead imagine, please? Like when Will had just come home from New York and was offered a job at the ED and he's late on his first day as he wasn't taking it seriously and was thinking of just going back to NY but when he step foot into Med, he caught sight of the reader, the only girl he has ever loved but screwed things up with and suddenly he found his reason to stay. Thank you x
A/N: Hi!!! First of all I feel like I need to say that I think I’ve never struggle so much with a story before so sorry in advance if it kinda sucks, with that being said this story took me so long because I couldn’t figure out exactly what I wanted to do so I ended up kinda sticking to the original plot presented in the “I Am The Apocalypse” episode where he’s introduced. :/ Anyway, I hope you like it and thanks so much for reading💕

He knew it had been a bad idea going out to have some drinks the night before his first day on a new job, the naked girl next to her who kept him awake most of the night proof enough of his mistake but truth to be told it wasn’t like he was too bothered about it either, it was only a job, a job he had accepted just for his brother Jay.
The water in the shower was already running cold but he stayed there thinking about his life, the reason he was now in Chicago and everything he has left behind in New York, he couldn't believe how fast and how much his life had changed and how he truly wasn't feeling excited about his new life, his purpose lost behind, yeah. of course this new job could be a great thing but honestly nothing was better than being a plastic surgeon in New York, that was action. Well, it didn’t matter, he wasn’t planning on staying much longer.
As he got out of the bathroom a couple minutes later he realized he was a bit late and he felt a little guilty about it but not enough to rush out the door, still taking his time to dress, prepare his bag and go to the kitchen to have some breakfast.
Stepping outside his room he came face to face with the girl from last night, a quick good morning kiss before she was lost once again in his bedroom.
Entering the kitchen he was faced with Jay pouring himself a cup of coffee, the space was tight but this was only temporary, in a couple days he would be back at New York and he would have his old place back.
“When do you have to be at work?” Jay asked.
“Ten minutes ago?” he answered faking to look at his watch.
“It’s your first day”
“Uh, first and last, as it turns out” he added nonchalantly while looking for some fresh milk in the refrigerator “Almond milk? You don’t have any regular milk in here?”
“You’re joking” said Jay with a blank face, making him turn around.
“No, I got to get back” he said, taking the milk out to pour some in his flask to add coffee then.
“To what? I thought the partners kicked you out of the practice”
“They did, but, now, this may come as a shock to you, there are other practices in New York City” Will answered with a bit of humor, Jay really seemed to not get it at all.
“Hey, how ‘bout, for once, you see something all the way through” Jay said in the same tone as him.
“Wow, you sound like the old man” he couldn’t stop himself from saying it,
“There it is” Jay sentenced not surprised at all, this wasn't new “I mean, that is why you’re blowing back out of town, right?”
“What do you care?” Will finally let out, he had no right to tell him anything.
“Just give it a couple weeks, at least” Jay said now defeated while following him out the kitchen as Will kept taking his things to get going. “You never know”
“I got to go” he finished before watching his clock again and leaving out the door.
The way to the hospital wasn’t long but it did nothing to keep him from repeating the conversation over and over again in his head, if he didn’t get a headache from the night before, he definitely had one now. Why couldn’t Jay just let him go? Half of his life he had been away, what was the big problem now?
Stepping into the break room letting out a frustrated sigh he realized he wasn’t the only one there, some clattering noise coming from behind the fridge.
“When I took this job I didn’t know we did our own maintenance work” he said stepping closer to see who was it. A woman in her blue uniform working on the inside panel the fridge had at the bottom.
“I have a theory, Goodwin likes broken appliances ‘cause it means we have to spend more money at the vending machines” he heard muffled from his position but the voice had a familiar sound to it though he couldn’t figure where he had heard it before, a memory trying to make its way to the surface of his mind.
“The great vending machine conspiracy. You could get published in JAMA with that” he said playing along when suddenly a buzzing let them know the fridge was back to life. “Nice work” he added coming to the front to open the door and check it was actually working.
That’s when your form finally emerged from behind the fridge, now face to face you recognized each other, a million memories flashing to both your minds of your previous college romance, the most intense and passionate relationship either of you had ever had, never being able to feel the same ever again after that.
“Will?”
“(Y/N)?”
You both said in unison with the same shocked expression in both your faces but you were quicker to recover.
“What are you doing here? The last thing I knew about you was that you were leaving to Sudan” you questioned trying to put on a strong front and keep your feelings hidden, the pain of your break up coming back to surface after years of him being gone but you couldn’t stop yourself from asking, you needed to know if the reason he left you behind for had been at least worth it.
“Yes, I went to Sudan and worked there as a doctor, it was amazing but after a while I came back, well, not here but to New York, I’ve been living there since and I spent some time working as a plastic surgeon but it doesn’t matter, tell me about you, please, I haven’t see you in years” he said nostalgic, the realization of how much he had missed you downing in on him.
You two had dated during your time in college, your connection was almost instant and before you knew it you both were dating. the two of you inseparable for years until one day he came to your place with a box full of your stuff in his hands, he was leaving, not only you but the country too.
He said he needed something more, that he couldn’t stay stuck in Chicago and it was his time to finally be free and, of course, that included being free from a long distance relationship that eventually would be doomed to end, leaving you behind with so much emotions to deal with, anger, frustration, pain and hope because despite it all you loved him and you only wished the best for him, hoping for him to found the happiness he was looking for.
“Well it’s going to sound so boring in comparison but, as you can already tell, I stayed here, went straight from college to a hospital and I’ve been working my ass off to become a cardiothoracic surgeon, I’m almost there now” you said looking into his eyes, a shy smile coming to your face knowing he had been happy all these years like you had hoped.
“Hey, it’s not boring, this is what you always wanted, I’m proud of you, you followed your dream and now you’re living it” he said smiling softly at you, the same smile you had fallen in love so many years ago. Stepping forward he reached out to caress your cheek, the simple gesture still sending electroshocking pulses.
Clearing your throat you took a step back, his hand falling from your face.
“Yeah, I guess, it’s been good, anyway, I’m glad to see you again, as it seems we’re coworkers now and I’d love to keep catching up but I need to go, I have a patient that needs me” you said quickly before turning around and leaving, he couldn’t know how much his presence still affected you, he had left you behind, he couldn’t just like that came back into your life and pretend everything was alright or like it had been before because it wasn’t, you were different now and so was he, you needed to get to know eachother again before anything could happen again between you two, even if it was only a friendship.
As he saw you exiting the door only a thought came to his head, he now had his reason to stay in Chicago, you, he was going to get you back because there was no way he was willing to let go again of the only woman he ever loved.
you're writing chicago med?! aww yiss. can you write something about reese getting hurt? maybe gun shot wound sometime around the whole searching for danny debacle. and how the whole team is working to save her life (plus maybe a hint of reese/rhodes)
–Hi! could you write a drabble for chicago med? Reese gets injured on the job and Dr Halstead attends to her? (more to a friendly/younger sister/mentor kind of way - he seems to be very protective of the people he cares about)
“Incoming! Female GSW to the abdomen. Dr. Halstead!” Maggie yelled out, reserving a room.
Dr. Halstead gloved up and waited by the emergency department entrance. Within seconds, an ambulance pulled up, revealing a young woman on a stretcher who was bleeding from her chest and abdomen.
“Two gunshots: one to the chest, one to the left side. She was conscious when we found her, but passed out in the back of the rig.”
“I’m Dr. Halstead, I’m going to be taking care of you,” Will said, leaning over the woman to assess her wounds.
In a matter of seconds, Will’s stomach dropped. The woman on the stretcher was Dr. Sarah Reese, his fellow doctor. He tried to shake it off, immediately calling April over.
“Page Rhodes,” he called out, checking Reese’s vitals, “Reese, I promise you’re going to be okay. I will do everything in my power to make sure that your come out of this alive,” he spoke softly beneath the noise of the bustling ER room.
Moments after his initial page, Dr. Rhodes rushed down to the ER. Maggie tried to explain what had happened, but his mind kept going toward the thought of never seeing Sarah again. He would miss having some to ground him when he stepped out of line.
Connor ran to her side, examining the chest wound.
“Any chance we can knock these both out with one surgery?”
“The bullet from her side just grazed her, nothing too serious. Go ahead and operate on her chest,” Will advised.
After the surgery, Connor paced the post-op floor, checking in on Sarah every chance he could. He checked her vitals and bandages, hoping that she would soon wake. His fear was that she would have trouble regaining consciousness from the loss of blood.
Finally, Sarah began stirring in her bed. Her eyes darted open, only to see Dr. Rhodes asking a nurse to page Dr. Halstead.
“Connor,” she breathed, wincing at the pain, “Is Danny okay?”
He took a deep breath and grabbed her hand, “Reese, I’m sorry, he didn’t make it.”
A tear slid down her cheek, but she quickly wiped it away.
“Thank you, Connor,” she smiled.
“I would do it a million times over, Sarah,” he sighed, kissing her hand.

A/N: I combined two requests here, so I hope it turned out well. All requests are all closed, but should be open in two weeks or so. I have a color coded schedule to help me keep up now, so fingers crossed!
Can I have a Will Halstead x reader story where the two of them are going through a scrapbook of photos together?
It'd include pictures of when they started dating, their wedding, the growth of their little girl, and even an ultrasound/pregnancy pictures of their little boy who will be arriving in a few months.

WILL HALSTEAD MASTERLIST
“I’m home.”
The house was quiet, so Will frowned and stepped further in. “Y/N?”
You looked up as your husband stepped into the sitting room. “Daddy!” Will smiled as little Grace came running out of the room, jumping into her father’s arms.
Will chuckled, catching your eye as you looked up with a smile.
“Hey, what’s up?” Will asked.
You shook your head. “Got too comfortable.”
Will chuckled, as he glanced at Grace. “Shall we see what Mama’s up to?”
Grace nodded, as Will settled himself comfortably next to you, not forgetting to press his lips onto yours gently for a kiss, before he peered at what you were looking at.
“Is there a reason you’re being all sentimental?” Will asked, smiling at the picture lying in front of him now - it was a photo from the first time Will had actually taken time off from Med and the both of you had taken a little trip out of Chicago.
You shrugged with a smile. “I was looking for something, found this and got distracted.”
Will flipped the page, and it was like going through a time capsule in your mind - the photos you guys had taken on holidays, family dinners with Jay, the wedding. You’d even forgotten that you’d left Grace’s ultrasound in here and you glanced at your daughter who’d nodded off to sleep in her father’s arms.
“Time, huh?” Will commented quietly.
You smiled and flipped again, there were a few more photos of Grace - her first birthday, the first time she’d walked, and then another ultrasound.
You glanced up at Will again, before putting a hand on your belly which was barely showing.
“I think it’s going to be a boy.” You said.
Will smiled and pressed a kiss to your temple. “Well, boy or girl, they’re coming from you which means they’re going to be perfect.”

“So… Y/L/N, right? Where are you from?”
The red-haired doctor leaned casually against the counter, glancing at you. You smiled without looking up.
“Canaryville.”
Ironically, it was the silence that made you look up, where he was now studying you with raised eyebrows. “What?” You asked.
A small hint of a smile was hidden behind his effort to try not to smile, his red hair framing his handsome features. He shrugged, smiling. “Me too.”
You raised an eyebrow back at him, merely smiling and answering him with an open-ended, “Hmm.”
You dropped your eyes back down to the paper in front of you, thinking to yourself that maybe you had made the right choice to take this job in Chicago after all.
“You’d think we’d have met earlier, staying what… a few streets away?” Will said, smiling.
You gave him a smile. “All in good time, Halstead. All in good time.”
You’d barely finished your sentence when you heard Maggie call for you.
“See you around, Halstead.” You winked at him, grinning, before you turned away from him and headed towards the intake. Will watched you jog towards the front, still smiling to himself.
“Yeah.” Will muttered to himself. “In good time.”
