Are there any Hooky fans still standing in 2023
I read a lot of webcomics in the 2 years I was gone and Hooky is probably my favorite. It started out simple and slow (probably because the creator didn't know how successful it would end up being), but when it took off, it really took off and its just a really lovely coming-of-age/adventure story where self-discovery, power and responsibility are the main-theme with a dash of fun magic and witches shenanigans.
Its big solid cast and all their interactions is where the story truly shines. All of them are lovable with their own unique personality and development (there's no way you're walking away from this webcomic without loving at least one character) where almost everyone get enough time to shine and I think a big reason for that is due to how how many chapters the story has. 222 chapters is a lot of chapters and other webcomics usually don't reach this length and if they do, its almost always because the story is extremely slow-paced, but Hooky's pace (after the first 20-ish chapters at least) is good enough where it feels like they're dedicating enough time for all the plot-lines and characters in a slow burn without it feeling like its dragging and its only after you finish the story that you look like back and realize just how much all the characters in it have grown.
Its surprising how its not THAT well-known considering how good it is, but I genuinely believe it has the potential to be a big hit if it was ever given an animated adaptation and I recommend anyone didn't read it yet and is interested in a reading a fun coming-of-age story about witch kids to read it.
Thoughts on Hooky-Marionetta. Some spoilers!
I know it probaly won't happen, but I would love to see the characters from Hooky interact with the characters from Marionetta. There are so many possibilities, but the ones I'd enjoy the most are:
Since Dani and Nico are spreading the word and building new bridges between people and witches, I'd love to see them interact with the members of the circus during this time in the story, but I'd especially like to see them interact with Sahed, Rainah and Julia.
I'd also be curious to see Dorian and Sahed interact, since, if I can recall correctly, Dorian had a lot of inner conflict about how he felt about non-magic users, and he had a lot of trouble making friends outside the people from home, which reminds me a little of Sahed in this way. Things weren't so black and white in regards to racial relations in Hooky, both did terrible things and sought revenge against the other, perpetuating a loop of voilence. I t's been a while since I read the series, but I'm making my way back through. Anyway, this is just all to say I remember it being really hard on Dorian to realize that yes, there are terrible non-magic users, but there are also terrible witches, and you really have to judge each person individually and not hold them accountable for the sins of others. You catch more flies with honey than with vinagar, so to say. Maybe knowing Dorian was coming from a somewhat similar place would help Sahed learn how to convince the other circus members to see the plight of his people.
I would love for Julia to get to talk to Monica and Will. I think there's a lot they could share with her that would help. Monica had prejudice against the witches initially, and she overcame it, even becoming a witch herself. Will grew up with suffocating expectations and sense of duty, both to his father and kingdom. They both know what expecting an arranged marriage is like. They know what it's like to fall in love with someone who would be very difficult to be with due to the social tensions and wars being fought between their races.
On a lighter topic, I think Monica would totally get into the shipping! I remember her trying to be her friends wing-woman, and her advice always seemed to fall flat, if not cause disaster (the love potion, telling Nico to button his shirt). She would definitely get into all kinds of romantic high jinks. Her and William's marriage situation also might give Julia a heart attack.
I'll bet Kamille would love to go adventuring with Mark and Aisha.
These are just my personal thoughts and opinions. These are just a few that have crossed my mind. There would be lighter interactions too, I think, but these are the ones that my brain has been latching onto. I'd be interested in hearing anyone else's if they felt like sharing!

Hooky Cinderella AU
Cinderella but instead of the evil step siblings keeping him from the ball it’s his parents and aunt who don’t agree with the king. Damien is the fairy godmother who helps Dani and Dorian get ready for the ball. He agrees to distract their parents until midnight so the twins need to be home before that.
Dani meets Nico and Mark and hangs out with them. Dorian dances with the princess, Monica. When it gets close to midnight he and Dani need for run off. Dorian drops his hat? A wand? (maybe in this universe witches are common place and not much worried about, and a wand only responds to its user. And as for the hat, he was also wearing a mask so maybe she figured she would recognize him better with it, idk?)
Monica wants to see Dorian again so she decides to travel all across the land until she can find him. (it is cannon that she is stubborn and has an almost unbreakable determination to find the people she likes) So she travels asking every black haired guy she finds to try on the hat or to try using the wand. (For the hat idea I figure that she knows that she can tell who he is just by looking and talking to him, but the hat makes it feel more romantic and mysterious. It simply has more drama) When she gets to the Wytte residence the parents try and forbid her from entering but Damien stops them. He leads Monica to Dorian. She obviously instantly knows it’s him. His certain brand of charming awkwardness is pretty hard to forget. For the drama of it she makes him try on the hat or try the wand. Of course it fits/works, and they live happily ever after with Monica carrying him off into the sunset.
Also side note, he brings Dani and Damien with him to the palace. Dani falls in love with Nico who works at the palace. Damien meets and becomes friends with Monica’s best friend Will who is the heir to the neighboring kingdom. Damien goes to live there and work as his advisor/protector. (I think you know where I’m going with this)
