I really want an AU where Will is an obscure spirit of vengeance--you can summon him and he’ll give you a long silver pin. Draw your own blood with the pin by breaking the skin on purpose, and you enter a binding agreement with him. He’ll drag your tormentors’ screaming souls straight to Hell. But there is a price. There’s always a price.
Should you make the agreement, you’re...well, not damned. Doomed.
Doomed to the same servitude Will is in. When you die, you’ll serve under him and help him with the cases he takes. Another spirit. Another weapon in the fight for retribution.
Will is stoic and his expression rarely changes in this AU. Whether he’s dealing with a client or victim, he’s generally distant. Though there are times where it’s clear that he still has emotions--like in cases involving domestic abuse.
There used to be a summoning circle and a whole ritual you had to do to get his attention. The ritual changed gradually as time went on, until one of Will’s ‘clients’ set up a website. Now anyone can try to invoke him. Just type the name of your victim into the text box and click enter.
He doesn’t stop for just anyone, though. Not for petty quarrels or grudges. The victim can’t just be someone the client dislikes. It has to be someone who’s made the client’s life worse, someone who is actively hurting them/has hurt them, whether physically or through other means.
In the rare cases that the victims are actually good people (ex: a criminal sending Will after a cop), Will can’t actually take them to Hell. But he still kills them. He just delivers their souls to a different set of gates is all.
In spite of everything, Will isn’t actually the one in charge. There’s some sinister force behind it all. Will is just in charge of the other spirits.
