I'm going to be writing for my first ever one of these things— national poetry month, ✨️Malevolent Edition✨️
Today is the theme, 'Miles to go before we sleep', so here you go -- my take on the prompt. Enjoy! (Oh, and go check out the original post, too! It's always fun for people to join in.)
Yet again!! A poem that I've poured out in a surprisingly short amount of time really late at night at a time where I probably should be asleep. Except, this time I'm just winging it. I did brainstorm (like a bit before noon earlier today, so a while ago -- not sure if that still counts) like last time, but I'm just going to type this out straight from my head, no planning, no nothing.
In case you haven't seen my previous post (which you can see all of them with the tag #malpowrimo25 ), this is part of April's thingy, themed around Malevolent!! Today's theme is 'Flame'. I hope you enjoy!
A candle burns away, wick mixing with wax.
A hinge squeaks -- dropping the light.
A terrible fear, you can't see in the dark.
A reason to quit -- you can't see in the first place.
But a small flame can keep you going.
But a voice of a partner can keep you strong.
But even when the fire turns to ash, I will make the room bright.
And this too shall pass -- now, let me help you through the night.
For a third time in a row, I have procrastinated the poem, thinking about it maybe three times a day and only remembering right before bed. So, writing now! The theme today is 'Purpose', so I think I know what I'm doing with this one.
I've been enjoying these so far -- lets me get creative and just... let the rambling flow out in a surprisingly comprehensive fashion! But, without further ado, here's the poem! I hope you enjoy, and I recommend checking out the tag #malpowrimo25 and looking at all of the other amazing poems people have written so far.
