People are mad at Kat for being snarky about this but it doesn't seem like a good faith question. The US military has commissaries that provide groceries at cost plus a 1.1% markup. It's a policy that is well-established and can be analyzed, rather than argued about ad infinitum.

We're really going to have to deal with the fact that so much of what the developed world has is gated in the US based on whether you're willing and able to join the military. State-owned grocery stores, free healthcare, heavily subsidized tertiary education, disability, pensions, etc.

Often lost in the Rosie the Riveter memory of WW2 is that the only reason so many of those women could step up and build submarines and B-17s was that the state also provided childcare!

SO MUCH of what we could have is something we already had or have in certain situations, and all of these things tend to be treated as weird, crazy ideas that a DemSoc "just did to get elected"

I just don't think this is a good faith take. This looks less like looking for serious data analytics and more, well, sealioning.

I love getting into debates about proper theory as much as the next communist, but unfortunately it's proper action that turns the wheel of history. Will Stancil might be a lib, but right now he's worth a thousand Bluesky communists telling him that his tactics are imperfect.
