Ive said this before but my personal favorite way to interpret willry is from completely henry extremely limited pov. the pure unexplainable betrayal of having you're closest companion kill your daughter for seemingly no reason.
like It's 1960 something. you're gay. of course you don't tell anyone, the day you realize you're different you continue to live the same as you did before. you go college. you meet a nice enough girl. you met Him. he's the second homosexual you know and you give him your heart and her your hand in marriage. you graduate and have a little girl. you start a small family dinner with Him where you get to watch the neighborhood children play and be enchanted by the same magic of machinery that lured you out of your hometown. He's your closest friend, He knows everything about you that just can't be said by the watercooler in a small town like this. you love your daughter, and your wife and so many other things but you adore Him because he is the only other thing in this town that knows you are and isn't disgusted by it. you found a friend or lover or something greater than all of the above in this man and you are the happiest queer you know.
And then He kills your daughter. For no fucking reason.
An AU where Elizabeth and Crying Child didn't die, and instead moved out of Hurricane after the bite; and then moved back as adults.
(More art and details under the cut)
Takes place roughly 13 years after the bite
Elizabeth goes by Bettie Schmidt
CC is named David and goes by Dave Schmidt
Bettie is 23 and Dave is 21.
They grew up with their mother (unnamed so far, I like Clara but I want to give her a different name, her maiden and current last name is Schmidt)
Elizabeth is the one who wanted to move back to Hurricane, citing that she wanted to reconnect with some childhood friends.
In reality she is investigating the disappearances at Freddy's, spurred on by guilt for not trying to reach out to Michael before his disappearance. She knows he's likely gone for good but she hopes to at least get some closure on her elder brother
Dave follows her because he wants to stick with his older sister(he's terrified that she'll disappear too.)
Michael himself disappeared when he was 22, so roughly 3 years prior to their arrival.
Bettie I think does more freelance type work? Or works from home? Some kind of editor or writer I think. She has a work laptop. If you damaged it she would fuck you upppp.
She recently tried cutting her hair short, and is honestly very iffy on how she feels about it.
She has aspirations to be a writer or detective someday.
Still loves dressing girly. Just more for special occasions because it can be a hassle and she has things to do ;P
Dave hasn't had the best of luck with work, due to emotional issues. He's mainly worked janitorial jobs or jobs that don't require much interaction with customers.
He has a knack for electronics, but never actually pursued it into a career due to complicated feelings regarding his own father and the shady shit surrounding Freddy's. Not to mention the bite.
He has a lot of feelings in general.
Anyways he ends up working at a Freddy's (FNaF1 location?)
Bettie on one hand is worried, but on the other sees this as an opportunity to learn more about Freddy's. So she tells him about her little investigation and lets him choose whether to get the job knowing the risks or be safe and find something.
He gets the job and works as a sort of handyman/janitor/electrician/other things not in his job title.
He ends up staying late one day and bumping into the night guard
They fucking hate eachother immediately but eventually get over it and become friends
Huh... funny coincidence, the night guards last name is Schmidt too.
Yes, it's Michael, and no, neither of them recognizes the other.
Michael fully believes both of his siblings are dead, and his memories of his siblings from 13 years ago is vastly different from what they currently are. Not to mention they go by nicknames(what's doing the heavy lifting for this AU ngl)
Mike doesn't have a British accent, or it's so faint Dave doest pick up on it. Also he's a 6' 5" smelly ass zombie.
Why would you think that's your brother in this situation. Like Dave doesn't even remember his brother THAT well but still even if he did he probably wouldn't connect the energetic and mean healthy 12 year old with fuckass zombie man.
Also I forgot to mention but Dave has some Remnant sticking to him
It came into existence when he briefly flatlined after the bite, and has stuck around ever since
The Remnant causes him to have sudden flashes of RAGE, but usually it's so brief he wonders if it even happened.
He also tends to have a better sense for like haunted stuff but he probably doesn't quite realize that.
He was cleared for any lasting effects from the head trauma.
Some design notes:
Dave takes heavily after his father, the biggest differences physically besides age and height is Dave's eyes being a gentle dark blue instead of a piercing pale blue. Much like his father he burns really easy in the sun.
Michael takes after both his parents. He gets his reddish hair, freckles, ability to tan, and broader face from his mom. While he gets his height, nose shape, and eyes from his father. His eyes are almost identical to his fathers, this is what pisses off vengeful murder robots about him the most.
Bettie takes after her mother in a lot of ways, such as her freckles, eye and face shape, hair, and height. But she also takes after her father, having his nose, thick eyebrows, and having the same piercing pale eye color(albeit green instead of blue.)
William is mainly inspired by Silver Eyes William
Mrs Afton is meant to kind of be the opposite of him in some ways. Being broader and sturdier build wise, as well as being warmer and rounder.
Michael is not alive! He is a ghost haunting his own dead body, this AU focusing more on him being a ghost than a zombie.
He usually behaves as a normalish human, mostly due to him constantly running a low voltage through his body.
He himself is not entirely sure if the reason it helps him stay 'himself' is because of the voltage doing something to keep the 'Remnant stuff' in check or if it's the stimulation of the voltage itself that does it.
This is not an entirely full proof method to keep him from 'haunting'
Haunting being what he calls the state where he loses himself and more or less acts like a normal ghost
He's never done anything he's been proud of while haunting
Michael knows more about the ghost stuff than Bettie or Dave but he's still clueless on a lot of things.
