Good morning! Here’s the reveal.
I worked on one film with Virginia Weidler. It was LADDIE (1935). I worked several times for George Stevens.
THE GAY DIVORCEE, TOP HAT, SWING TIME, CROSSFIRE. Other films I worked on, the last one was for Jean Porter's husband, Edward Dmytryk.
I worked on a film set on Broadway, but they weren't babes. I worked on that lesser known "sequel", ZOMBIES ON BROADWAY.
My son followed in my footsteps. He was cameraman Richard Barth.
When they said, "roll 'em!", I did. See? Cameraman? "roll 'em?"
Who am I? Cameraman Willard Barth, born October 15, 1904.

Willard Barth (1904) spent his career behind a camera. Sometimes he was the main cameraman, other times, the second. He was the second cameraman in the film that really started getting Virginia some notice in the press, LADDIE (1935). I have to note here that LADDIE seems to have been one of the most notable films he did, two others being SWING TIME and THE GAY DIVORCEE. I'd like to see his film, ZOMBIES ON BROADWAY, which apparently was an Abbott and Costello film without Abbott and Costello. In the photo he's behind the camera on the set of CROSSFIRE, another of the good ones he did, with Robert Young, Robert Mitchum, Edward Dmytryk, camera assistant Don Hauser (behind Young), and camera assistant Howard Schwartz (behind Mitchum.)
