Leon Kossoff (British, 1926-2019), Willesden Junction, c.1965-66. Chalk on paper, 59 x 78 cm.
Memorabilia of a commuter
Mind the Gap...
Willesden Junction Station, London.
The platforms at Willesden Junction see a mixture of both Overground & Underground services. The lower level platforms see both Underground - the Bakerloo line between Harrow & Wealdstone and Elephant & Castle and Overground services between Euston and Watford Junction, using the 660 volt DC 3rd /4th rail power. Whilst on the upper platforms, Overground North London line services between Stratford and Richmond , plus the West London line services to Clapham Junction, using 25Kv AC overhead power.
As the lower platforms have to cope with the floor heights of both types of trains, there is a considerable step up from the Underground, but step down from the overground trains.

Leon Kossoff (British, 1926-2019), Willesden Junction - Autumn Afternoon, 1971. Oil on board, 36 x 72 in.
Went to see the curious incident of the dog in the night-time for our housemate's birthday! Great show for those who don’t want all the singing on the west end. Think, what’s eating gilbert grape come sherlock. It’s good, go watch it :)
Red Riot x
Willesden Junction - I always wanted to try and include this patch into my bike-commute to work, but alas, t’wasn’t to be! God only knows what it’ll look like when I come back - luxury flat central, I’m sure :P
