Ready for Oktoberfest!
I know the Willi Castro trans flag eyeblack probably wasn't intentional (even if I don't really have another explanation for it), just statistically, given how MLB players and particularly Twins players aren't exactly bastions of progressiveness. But the post about it on r/baseball is the sub's 10th most popular post of all time (and still climbing, 7 hours after posting) and has become a beacon of support and affirmation for trans people and LGBTQ+ people in general, in a climate and industry that is frequently hostile. That visual of the blue and pink stripes on Castro's face has meant the world to thousands of people, less because of the individual and more as a reminder that we do still have allies, people who are willing to stand up and stand by us. It's a reminder we need more than ever. Community, solidarity, humanity: those things can't be killed. We'll always survive, because we're fighting for ourselves, and because others are fighting for us too.

Word on the street is Puerto Rican MLB Minnesota Twins player Willi Castro wore a trans pride flag on his cheek during a game this week.
It’s missing the white BUT support like this coming from a straight male pro athlete, especially towards the trans community means so much and it makes my little Puerto Rican heart happy to see another fellow Puerto Rican show what it really means to be Boricua, we have love for all, always 🫶🏽
Twins graphic design person got a lot of photo shop reps in this week
