So another Very Short Introduction and another palpable hit. Again, a minute book that takes ages to read, (well it did me), as it’s just crammed full of information written in a wonderfully amusing way.

In writing about Juvenal’s work and style in the 2nd century AD, Allan states “….in fact, he sounds rather like a Daily Mail editorial: reactionary, moralistic and bombastic.".

Very accessible writing, full of fascinating information and certainly an efficient way of cramming a three year degree course.

Highly recommend.
