itd be totally cool to hear your Critical Thoughts on it actually. its about black magic in the wild west, a weird mix but it works. it follows chess and rook, lovers and troublemakers in a dangerous world. chess is a wild n queer outlaw and rook is an ex-reverend now-demon, its dark and sexy, its a horror series too but theres lots of humor and pretty words. also the only series ive read with a canon poly family (side characters in book 3 but i was still really happy)

That is the magic word, friend. Then again, I’ll have to really like something to get three books in. But god, lack of poly in shit is the second greatest tragedy to me, shortly after lack of queer romance. 

I think I’ve only seen and been remotely happy with poly in A Real Published Thing once and it was a movie called Bandits when I was like. Fuck. Fifteen I think.

i just finished mouth to mouth to mouth by wilt and have so many feelings about it, starting with the cover art and ending with the afterword:

I submerged this collection in fantasy because it felt truer to speak of desperate transition in an impossible world. I bathed it in horror to test the limits of conviction. And I made it horny because if we must be medicalized and sexualized and demonized in life, then it is my right to write weird porn about it.

i slicked myself up in vaporub, got obliterated on store brand cold and sinus medication and slipped in the bath for way too long, enraptured by the visercality of sex and transformation and the horror of both.

the whole thing was buggier (literally) than i anticipated. spoilers under cut.

horse fly. i think this was the best intro to this anthology because it's pretty fucking weird and gross, but not nearly as weird and gross as some of the others. it felt a lot like wetting your tongue on a cup of blood to whet your appetite. nameless, faceless, gender ambiguious--it's a gateway.

crystalline. probably my top pick for grossest story. i think this was the one i enjoyed the least, but it had more to do with the subject matter than to do with the writing. however, the transformation--of willing desecration of the flesh to achieve freedom--was beautiful, even if death was weeping all over cheryth.

godling. getting your cunt stitched after forcibly impregnated wasn't on the 2025 bingo card but it probably wasn't on lor's either. his choice to keep the jar in the end was interesting to me, especially when he steps out to see the product of himself and greymaster.

lambskin. I LOVE A FALSE GOD!!!! this one was tied for my favourite out of the entire anthology and it was the verbiage! lord eternal gets fucked and gets to live forever! i love lies and deciet and getting away with horrible shit!

sting. this was by far the most romantic and the embrace of becoming a monster, of accepting what you truly are, was deeply romantic in itself. the finger gnawing was less romantic, but the end was insane: Changed men. Once more. Twice transformed."

womb witch. good use of the word fornicate! i always appreciate the twisted god binding itself to a lesser being because it loves to preen under the attention. kinda thought it was angling for a weird threesome, but fucking a big bug god was also nice.

mouth to mouth to mouth. tied as my favourite story. there was something very beautiful (and horny) about transformation in this one paritcularly. risen led vesper, and vesper became risen. consumed his scraps, took his place, became him. also having a mouth for a cunt is wild. left field. 10/10, no notes.

on the topic of villains, have you ever read the hexslinger series by gemma files? the main characters are villains and theyre both some of my favorite charcters ever, also the writting style is a big inspiration to me. its a very dark, yet fun, series :'0

I haven’t heard of it! But if you want to tell me a bit about it I’m always on the look out for new things to check out. I generally need to be sold on things to look into them =x

I feel like I need to start adding a #disclaimer to this stuff tho, lol. If I read something I will talk about it and I 90% of things I only engage with critically. I’m not as prone to fangirling as a lifetime of fandom would suggest. So just about anything I read/see is going to be met with ‘here is what I thought about it, here were the good points, here were the bad points’.
