London - Wimbledon F.C.
WHERE I HAVE BEEN 701
Wimbledon F.C. was an English football club formed in Wimbledon, south-west London, in 1889 and based at Plough Lane from 1912 to 1991. I watched them a couple of times in the past. Roy Law is a Dons legend. He holds the record for most appearances with Wimbledon, playing 644 times between 1958 and 1972. He captained the side in the 1963 FA Amateur Cup Final, which Wimbledon won 4-2 against Sutton United. When Wimbledon made the decision to become a professional club- a controversial move at the time- Law's steady leadership kept the dressing room together. After he retired, he remained connected to the club- and, later, their spiritual successors, AFC Wimbledon. He was part of the delegation of Dons legends- including 1988 heroes Lawrie Sanchez and Dave Beasant- that were on hand to receive Wimbledon FC's replica trophies and other historical artifacts from Milton Keynes on behalf of Merton Council. Mr. Law passed away yesterday at the age of 77. The club honored him earlier today with a minute of silence before kickoff in their league fixture against Bury. RIP, Skipper.

Wimbledon: Petra Kvitova and Eugenie Bouchard reach final
“It was a tough match, mentally as well, because Lucie is a good friend of mine,” Kvitova said. In other semi-final of the day, Canadian rising star Eugenie Bouchard beat Simona Halep of Romania to reach the final. The 13th-seeded Bouchard is just 20-year-old but he has impressed everyone with his skills.
Bouchard beat world number three Halep, 7-6 (5), 6-2. “I feel like my job is not done here,…
