When it came to fighting, Suo’s knuckles were clean.
His heels however…
“Ehe!! N-Nirei! S-Sahakura! be cahahreful!” The eyepatch wearing teen yelped, struggling to stay still as his friends attempted to inspect his feet for damage. Usually Suo did this, but the blonde was insistent he’d check for bruises and open wounds.
“A cut to the back of your heel is dangerous, Suo! Consider the roads we walk on! You could easily get an infection!” He argued, first aide kid all but manifesting in his hands as he blocked Suo’s path of escape. Sakura…just happened to be there, hence his participation. Currently, he was used for muscle to prevent Suo wriggling away.
“Stop moving so much! How are we supposed to patch you up if you keep squirming?” Sakura grunted, lips twitching with restraint as he leaned into Suo’s legs. “It’s your own fault for relying on your heels to fight so much. Change it up, will ya? Fight with your fist!”
“His palms are ticklish too.” Nirei mused out loud, running his fingers along a red mark on the back of Suo’s ankle. “It’d make little difference.”
“D-Dohohon’t tehehell him tahhahahhahat!” Suo cried, forgoing his attempt to hold back his giggles. Sakura had to look back then, brows raised. “Whahahat? I chahahn’t control my tiihihihkcle spots!”
“I know- I’m just amazed you have more than one.” Sakura blinked a few times, taking it in. “You mean to tell me this-” He reached down without breaking eye contact, running a finger up Suo’s foot. “Tickles?”
“Ah!” Suo yelped, jerking so hard he nearly kicked Nirei in the face. “Yehehehs!”
“Huh..” Sakura hummed, turning back to the squirming limb. “Interesting.”
“Sakura, stop that! I need to put on the medicine.” The blonde gently scolded, rubbing the ointment along the marks. Suo winced some, giggles increasing the closer Nirei got to his actual foot. “Sorry- I know it doesn’t feel good. Just hang on, okay?”
“Iihihiht’s fihihine! Juhuhust a lihiihhttle coohohld!”
“Sure it is.” Sakura rolled his eyes teasingly. Nirei giggled softly as he pressed on a bandaid, sealing in his hard work. “All done?”
“Yep! Sealed and protected!” The blonde nodded, puffing up with pride. Suo sighed behind them, relieved.
“Thank you- now could you let me go? I’d like to walk ho-ohohohohohome! Ehahahaa, nohohohohoho! Doohohohn’t you stahahahrt up agahhaain!” He cried when he felt fingers attack his soles. Two sets to be exact- Sakura and Nirei both held an ankle in hand, scratching along the sensitive skin. “Cohohoohme ohohohoh, stahhahap that! Ehahahahahaha, thahaht’s so meahhahahan!”
“Did you hear that? We’re mean, Nirei.” Sakura snickered, unfazed by Suo’s cries.
“If tickling him makes us mean, he’s the king of it! How many times has he tickled you, Sakura?” Nirei mused outloud, poking at Suo’s toes and making him shout.
“Oi, don’t bring me into this!” Sakura huffed as he blushed, growing bored of Suo’s foot and moving upward. “Hey, you got anymore tickle spots around here?”
“Eheahhahahaha! N-Nohohoho! Not reahhahalehehehee!” Suo jumped as Nirei attacked both feet, mindful of his freshly bandaged wounds. “Nihiihirehehehei knohohock it ohohohohoff!”
“Nope!” Nirei called back with a cheeky grin.
“Not really, eh? We’ll see about that!” Sakura growled as he grabbed both of Suo’s knees, squeezing. Unfortunately for him, his laughter didn’t really change all that much. “Huh- your knees aren’t ticklish?” He tried the backs, but again- no new reaction. “What about here?” He dipped down and squeezed along his calves. “This has got to tickle, yeah?”
“Nohohohooho, it dohohoesn’t! Ehehahaha- behehehsides my fehhehehet, my lehehehegs ahahahren’t tiihihicklish!” Suo wheezed out, covering his face with his hands.
“Hmm…what about-” Sakura was about to grab his thighs, then got all flustered, face red. “Wait, can I touch you here?”
“Buuhuuhuy me diihihihihnner, fihihihirst!”
“I’ll take that as a no…” Sakura moved along, going for spots he knew tickled. A touch to Suo’s ribs had him spasming so hard he partially sat up. “Got you!”
“Sahahhhakaurhahahahahahhaha!” The eyepatched teen squeaked, doubling over with a wheezy laugh. Nirei giggled, abandoning Suo’s feet and joining Sakura up top. “Cohohohme ohohohn, I’m ahahharelady huhuhuhurt! Doohohn’t tihiihckle me moho-EHEHEHE!”
“Sorry, Suo- you heard the old saying- laughter is the best medicine!” Nirei grinned as he wiggled along Suo’s neck, making him double over into Sakura’s lap. The duel-colored teen flushed a brilliant red, momentarily flustered before resuming his rib tickling. “And really- you could use a healthy dose of it!”
“Yeah- what he said. The doctor just called and he…he, uh…” Sakura stumbled some, lost in his attempt to add on. “Screw it, just take the tickling!”
“Sahahahakura, whahhat the heheheck wahahahs tahhahahhat?” Suo wheezed, giggly from both their touches and silly words. Eventually, he was getting kinda tired- and sore. He tapped out against the ground, signaling he was done. Sakura and Nirei pulled away, watching fondly as Suo gasped for air. “Ehehehe..hehehe..ohohokay. Oohohohkay, I can brehhahhathe again…”
“Hehe, you feel better?” Nirei asked, smiling brightly. Sakura snickered, a bit stiff as the reality that Suo was still very much in his lap set in. Even more so when said man got comfortable, laying on his back and using his leg as a pillow.
“I do…hm, this isn’t a bad view, either.” Suo grinned, making Sakura’s face deepen.
“Bah! What do I look like, some luxury couch? Get off me!” Sakura gestured him away, making Suo laugh so hard he snorted. Nirei lost it at the sound, holding his belly as he tittered. “Ah hush, both of ya! What’d you say earlier? Buy me dinner first before you touch my thighs?”
“S-Sahahhakura, you’re so fuhuuhuhnny!” Suo wheezed, tears welling in his visible eye as he chortled himself near sick. Nirei couldn’t speak, doubling over so hard he fell into Suo face-first. The sight was enough to make Sakura crack a smile, shaking his head fondly.
“Ah, whatever. Come on- lets go. I’m hungry- and I want coffee.” Sakura stood up, leaving them behind as they giggled amongst themselves. He walked slowly though, heart humming happily when they caught up with him.
"Don't tell me you're forgetting how ticklish you are?"
Hiragi smirked behind his coffee, amused by the embarrassed squawk that Kaji let out as they both watched the comical scene in front of them.
The sound of Sakura's raucous laughter and frantic flailing had garnered the attention of most of the group currently gathered at Pothos, quite literally stuck between a rock and a hard place as he tried in vain to escape their goofball of a leader.
Poor Sakura had made the tragically rookie mistake of sitting on the inner part of a booth seat next to Umemiya, and was now trapped between him and the wall while the older boy playfully attacked him with random pokes and scribbles against his torso, and the poor first year had been kicking up quite the fuss about it for a while now.
In Kaji's opinion, between his beet red face and the screechy obscenities he was currently spewing at their leader, Sakura was being pretty overdramatic about the whole thing, very nearly falling out of his seat in his desperation to escape the humiliating situation he found himself in.
Face red, voice shrill, legs kicking like a child throwing a tantrum... Sakura was behaving more like he was being straight up murdered than just tickled, and it was almost too embarrassing to even watch...
Kaji had been wholly content to just observe and keep himself out of it, shaking his head a little at how stupid the entire thing was, but it seemed that luck would not be on his side today since for whatever reason, Hiragi felt the need to comment on the silently judgemental look he was shooting at their shared junior.
"You aren't much better you know." Hiragi continued when Kaji didn't say anything in return, taking his silence as an invitation rather than the conversational dissuasion he had intended it to be.
Kaji squirmed in his seat uncomfortably, frowning as he averted his gaze to his drink instead. Suddenly the pale color of the green tea he'd been sipping on seemed a whole lot more interesting.
"I'm not... That bad.." he mumbles, finally, hating how unsure he sounded at the end. His eyes subtly drifted over to Sakura again, whom had finally given up on his valiant escape effort and instead opted to curl up against the wall as best he could and hide to save himself any further embarrassment.
Surely Kaji himself didn't look like that when he was being tickled... Right?
"Nope. You're worse!" Hiragi unexpectedly answered from right behind him, and Kaji startled. When had he moved?! And- wait. Had he said all that out loud?!
Unfortunately for Kaji, he didn't get the chance to ponder on it for very long, as two large hands were suddenly latching themselves around his waist, and he squawked.
"A-AHAack!!" The startled noise he let out was enough to distract Umemiya from his own victim for a moment, snickering when he turned his head towards them and realized what was happening.
"Ahaha!! Ahahahanohoho!! Hi-Hiragi-sahan!!" Kaji shrieked, mortified as his own high pitched laughter began to mix with Sakura's, sinking through his chair to the floor almost instantly, where Hiragi followed him.
"Stahahap ihihit!!" It was humiliating, being tickled while still being able to hear someone else suffering the same fate, their laughter blending with your own into a chaotic symphony of giggles and screaming.
Thankfully though, they wouldn't have to suffer for very long since the noise finally ended up drawing Kotoha's attention, who came to their rescue if only to regain some peace in the cafe again.
Once they were released, neither Kaji or Sakura wasted any time getting out of there, practically bowling over one another just to get out the door while their amused senpai laughed behind them.
Yeah. Maybe they really were more alike than they thought...

On the day of the Spooktacular, all the clocks in Furin high seemed broken. No matter where they looked time passed agonizingly slowly; each minute an hour as the sun crept across the sky.
When the school day finally ended the school teemed with excitement for the festivities and frights to come. Class 1-1 was starting particularly early, with a so-called “ritual” being conducted in the glass tea kettle the class was circled around. The water within boiled raucously, and when Suo placed the teabags inside, it swirled with a deep, royal blue. Surprise heightened when a different teabag sent curls of magenta throughout the liquid.
“Woah! That’s so cool, Suo-san!” Nirei gasped.
“What the hell even is that?” Sakura frowned, though his eyes sparkled with curiosity.
“Tea,” Suo said, his smile becoming a smirk. “And water.”
“Shut up, you know what I meant,” Sakura glared.
Kiryu raised his hand. “I also want to know about the magic pink color, Suo-chan!”
Several of their classmates voiced their agreement but Suo only shook his head and put a finger to his lips. “I’m not supposed to say, but…it’s magic.”
“Oooh, like you mean with your exorcist powers?” Tsugeura awed.
Sakura raised his eyebrows while most his classmates gave varying expressions of amusement.
“Just spit out what ingredients are in it,” Sugishita glowered.
“I’m sorry, Sugishita-kun, afraid I can’t do that,” Suo beamed.
“But…what if someone’s allergic to it?” Kakiuchi asked, eyeing the undeniably magical-seeming liquid.
“Oh, no one is allergic,” Suo said with a knowing smile.
“What the–how could you know that?” Anzai cried.
“Ah! It was me,” Nirei said, putting a hand behind his head. “Suo asked for a list of everyone’s allergies and I–”
“You just gave it to him?” Kurita cried, pointing at Suo. “To that guy? With all his deviousness?!”
“Umm, yes?” Nirei replied, looking at Suo. “Suo-san said he wanted to bring a treat for everyone and wanted to make sure it was safe…”
“I’d be surprised if it wasn’t,” Takanashi grinned. “I’ve heard of this trick before but never seen it in person because this stuff can be hard to find. It’s really cool of you to share it with us, Suo!”
At Takanashi’s comment a lot of the hesitation dissipated, as he had brought snacks before and had grown a reputation of trust with food stuff.
“Of course!” Suo beamed, taking out a corked spice bottle decorated with swirls. “This tea blend will help everyone stay energized throughout the night…” He uncapped the vial and gently poured the clear contents into the kettle. The liquid inside swirled into a brilliant emerald. “If you’re brave enough to drink it.”
“Oh wow! Furin green!” Nirei beamed.
“Wait!” Takanashi shouted, making Nirei and some others jump. “It’s not supposed to change that color! I have no idea what was in that vial.”
The class looked to Suo who only smiled as he set out paper cups. “It’s the secret ingredient.”
Tsugeura, Sakura, Nirei and a few others took a cup as he poured the tea, but a lot of them remained untouched.
Suo sighed, picking up a cup. “You all wound me. I would never give you something that would harm you in such a way,” he said, taking a sip himself. “It also definitely wouldn’t be by defacing tea. If you all grew to dislike tea because of me, it would break my heart.”
“Awe okay,” Kiryu smiled, taking a cup. “Thank you for the tea, Suo-chan!”
Eventually everyone did take some, many smiling at the tasty mystery flavor. As they cleaned up the cups, Suo was pleased that all of them were empty. Though, some continued to ponder what the secret ingredient had been.
Takanashi especially couldn’t shake it from his mind. All the things he’d ever made and he still couldn’t figure it out! He unconsciously eyed Suo as they moved things into place for the night ahead, though his gaze did not go unnoticed.
“Really got his goad huh, Suo?” Tsugeura asked, literally poking fun at him as he wiggled a finger into his side.
Suo jumped and smacked his hand away. “The phrase is ‘get one’s goat,’” he replied, trying to hide his surprise with a glare.
The class finished putting away their things and began to disperse to get the school ready for the night ahead. A small line formed at the door as everyone drew from a large plastic bowl Anzai had found. Inside were envelopes for the game he and Kurita had roped them all into during lunch. Kurita stood beside him, the pair having agreed to draw last to assure fairness and douse suspicions of trickery.
But when Suo approached, Anzai pulled the bowl away with a grin. “What’s the password?!”
“Oh?” Suo asked, smiling patiently. “Do I get a hint?”
Anzai looked to Kurita who hunched his back and curled his hands into claws. “A mystical thing!” he rasped, bringing his uniform up to his face and peering over it. “It swirls and teems, casting green in magic tea!”
Anzai and the classmates in the line behind Suo looked at Kurita with awkward smiles. He’d put so much effort into the performance he’d basically given Suo the answer.
Still, those left in the room watched in interest.
“My, my! Really tangled up over that detail aren’t you?” Suo mused, placing his hands behind his back. “I really shouldn’t say though. Secrets are meant to be kept.”
“Nope!” Anzai yelled.
His classmates looked over to see his hand around Suo’s wrist which was inches from the bowl’s rim.
“Oh! You’ve gotten faster, Anzai-kun!” Suo said, his smile turning a little more sinister. “How wonderful.”
Kurita gasped in realization. “You dared try to trick the bowl guardian?!” He cried, pointing at Suo menacingly. “Now you have to face my wrath!”
“I’m sure I’ll be fine–” Suo said, stopping short when arms wrapped around his middle and shoulders. “Hm. This isn’t the best time to be giving huHUGS!”
Before any of them could blink Suo had pulled his arm back from Anzai, grabbed Kurita’s hand from his side and clapped his remaining hand over his mouth. Silence settled over the room. A mischievousness took over Anzai’s face as Suo looked at the ones holding him: both Takanashi and Kakiuchi wore knowing grins.
Not good. At what point had he let himself be surrounded by these four?!
“Something you want to say?” Kurita asked, but the second Anzai moved to put the bowl down Suo’s pressed his fingers under Kakiuchi’s arms and pulled one of Takanashi’s knees out from under him with his foot. One squeaked and the other yelped, but neither let go as all three of them went crashing to the floor.
Kakiuchi’s laughter filled the air as Suo fought to find purchase and escape their limbs.
“Just!” Takanashi huffed, grabbing Suo’s ribs and making him jump. “Tell us what ingredient you added!”
“As I said, it isn’t my information to tehehehell!” Suo replied, flinching as Kakiuchi’s fingers curled into his side. Suo pinched his upper ribs in retaliation, becoming more desperate as Anzai and Kurita stalked towards him.
“Hehehehe! Oh noho! Hehehehehelp!” Kakiuchi squealed, pulling his arms from around Suo to push at his hands. “Ihihihehe! I cahahahan’t!”
Suo quickly got to his feet and two sets of hands promptly grabbed each of his arms.
“Going somewhere?” Kurita smirked, digging his fingers into his side.
Suo clamped his mouth shut and willed himself not to move in hopes they’d loosen their grip.
“Hmm…not talking huh?” Anzai grinned.
Suo’s gaze narrowed in reply.
Anzai snickered and looked over his shoulder at their classmates. “You guys can take your cards. This is going to take a minute.”
“Yeah, you can go ahead of us too,” Takanashi said, helping Kakiuchi to his feet and wiggling his fingers into Suo’s stomach.
Kakiuchi nodded in agreement as he dusted himself off.
Some took their evolves and escaped the possibility of being dragged into the mayhem, while others stood healthy distances away to watch the spectacle.
Suo only flinched at each edition of hands, even as Anzai wormed his fingers under his arms.
“I know I heard him giggle,” Kurita said, poking up and down his side in search of a good spot.
“Come on, Suo,” Takanashi sighed, switching to sporadic squeezes. “We know you’re ticklish and that you know what was in that vial.”
Kakiuchi smiled. “It’ll be easier if you just tell them,” He said, gently scratching along Suo’s ribs only for him to jump so hard Anzai and Kurita almost lost their grip on him.
They looked to him expectantly, and though he’d already swallowed down the smile, there was a certain sparkle there that hadn’t been there before. Each of them took turns repeating their most recent attempt.
Suo braced himself as much as he could, but the second Kakiuchi resumed tickling his ribs his smile returned.
“Oooh, I get it!” Kurita smirked, lightening his touch. “Can’t take the soft stuff huh?”
Helpless giggles bubbled past his lips which escalated to laughter as the others joined in. “Ahaha! Nohohoho wahahahait!”
“Nope, you didn’t wait and say the password, so now we’ve got to tickle it out of you!” Anzai grinned.
The tickles sparking through Suo’s nerves left him no room to think. “Ihihi! HEHE Ihihihi cahahaAHAN’T!”
“Sure you can,” Takanashi replied, gently dragging his nails down his stomach. “These little tickles take less energy so we could probably go for hours.”
“NAHAHahaha! PLEHEheheheheASE! Pleehehease DohohoHOHOhon’t!” Suo hiccuped, his feet tapping the ground as he tried to pull away.
“All you need to do is tell them,” Kakiuchi grinned, wincing when tracing his upper ribs resulted in a burst of higher-pitched giggles.
“IHIHihi cahahaAHAHAN’T” Suo cried, trying to drop to the floor to escape the gentle torture. “PLEHEhehehe! Ihihihi’ll tahAHAHAHALK! JuhuHUHUst stahahahap!”
The four gave just a few more gentle pokes before letting him catch his breath.
“Plehe–Please lehet me ahahanswer ahahall the wahay,” Suo breathed, a few after giggles getting past as ghost tickles sparkled through his nerves.
“Sure, sure,” Anzai smiled, barely scritching a finger under his arm to make him jump.
“Ihi! I cahan’t tell yohohou whahat the ingrehehedient wahas,” Suo giggled, squirming as Anzai added another finger alongside his first. “Ehehehe! Ihihi’m nahahat dohohohone!”
“Then keep talking,” Kurita smirked, drumming his fingers on Suo’s arm.
Suo flinched at the touch. “Ihihi cahahan’t sahahay behecahahause I dohohon’t know eihehehehehither!”
“Wait, for real?” Takanashi blinked.
Suo nodded. “The shohop owner said it was a surprise fohohor the holihiday.”
At that all their fingers stopped.
“But the allergies?” Kakiuchi frowned.
“I showed thehem the class allergy list I got from Nirei and thahat is the one they said we could all have,” Suo breathed. “I didn’t eheven know what color it would turn into. He was pulled to his feet for what he feared would be more tickles only to be released.
“Why didn’t you just say that earlier?!” Kurita shouted.
Suo took a step back so he could see them all. “I didn’t want to ruin the illusion of the mystery,” he said, his smile returning. “I also tried, but couldn’t get all my words in.”
“Eheh, sorry about that,” Anzai winced, offering him a cup of water. “I was excited that we finally got you laughing and went overboard.”
Suo politely took the cup. “Thank you, Anzai-kun, and it’s alright, but I will think twice before I bring any more tea to school.”
“Oh, no,” Takanashi frowned. “We like your teas, Suo.”
“Yeah! Don’t not bring them because we were being stupid!” Kurita pleaded, clasping his hands together.
Kakiuchi nodded in agreement and Suo hummed in thought.
“Hmm…Maybe if I could borrow your services in the future,” he said, inching a finger at them. “Then I might be able to look past what has transpired.”
Takanashi, Kurita, Kakiuchi and Anzai looked at each other in surprise before smiling at each other in ranging amounts of relief and mischievousness as they nodded.
“I’ll let you know when the time comes,” Suo nodded. “May I draw my card now?”
“Oh, yeah!” Anzai grinned, grabbing the bowl. “Here!”
Each of them took an envelope from inside and put them away for later.
“Now that that has been sorted out,” Suo smiled, turning to his classmates who had lingered behind to spectate. “Lets not keep the preparations for tonight waiting any longer, shall we?”
The hint of darkness in Suo’s gaze had everyone, Anzai and his friends included, moving swiftly for the door only to freeze.
Thuds echoed from the other side, slowly becoming louder and louder. Those closest to the exit slowly backed away for the door to slam open and a bright orange jack-o-lantern mascot to burst into the room.
“HELL YEAH!” Tsugeura’s voice yelled from inside as he grabbed two of their nearest classmates under his arms. “Come on you slow pokes, time to get SPOOKY!”
He turned and walked out, their classmates struggling for release as they were carried out into the hall. Everyone else cheered and laughed at the spectacle as Suo followed behind, his ever calm smile donned on once again.
Summary: Umemiya is informed that Sugishita has been causing trouble in class, and figures out a way to help him.
WC: 1.7k
~
"C'mon, Sugishita...loosen up a bit!"
Umemiya dropped his hands on the slender boy's shoulders, playfully massaging them. He wanted nothing more than for him and his classmates to get along.
-
Sugishita had a tendency to lash out at anyone who even joked around regarding Umemiya, even if they were simply messing around.
After the bell, Umemiya had taken a jog to the first-year's classroom, catching him before he left. He didn't need to explain what he was there for. Sugishita took a seat and waited for everyone to leave the room.
"So..." Umemiya began. He pulled a chair in front of where the first-year sat and plopped down. "Everything alright?" He asked. He'd been informed of an altercation between Sugishita and a classmate.
Sugishita looked down, assuming what this conversation was going to be about. "Yes. Everything is fine, Umemiya-san," He didn't look up when he spoke. He kept his head down in embarrassment, fiddling with his fingers underneath his desk.
Umemiya immediately noticed this and became unhappy. He stood up, towering over the boy, before crossing his arms.
"Sugishita...please, look at me," He asked, but it came off as a demand.
The boy hesitated to move his head, but eventually did. He looked up and locked eyes with a smiling Umemiya.
"Do you think I'm disappointed in you, Sugishita? I'm not. It makes me happy to know that you respect me..." Umemiya took a few steps forward, now holding his hand out. "...but, you can't threaten others for making harmless jokes."
Sugishita looked around, confused. Was he supposed to shake the hand? Hold it? Aside from that rising question, he nodded in agreement to Umemiya's words.
"So...I've decided that you need to be reprimanded. You need to learn to loosen up a bit, Sugishita!" He grinned. A reprimand was supposed to be unpleasant, so why was he smiling?!
Sugishita didn't respond at first. After all, he was still confused whether or not he was meant to shake the hand in front of him, or what?! A few moments of thinking led him to grab Umemiya's hand, which was extended to help him out of his chair.
"Rep...reprimanded? How so?" He questioned, his face growing red. He was embarrassed, after all, he respected Umemiya so much, and he was about to be reprimanded by him!
Umemiya dropped his grin. He saw Sugishita's shoulders...stiff. His face was plain. Everything about him was tight-knit and defensive. To be honest, he didn't know how he was going to punish Sugishita for his behavior. All he knew was that he needed to drop his shield.
"C'mon, Sugishita...loosen up a bit!"
Umemiya dropped his hands on the slender boy's shoulders, playfully massaging them. Maybe this would relieve him of his stiffness. He expected him to huff and puff or maybe even try to swat his hands away.
However, he didn't expect Sugishita to smile. More specifically, he didn't expect him to smile and bite his lip, followed by a few half-annoyed and half-giggly mumbles.
"Huh? What was that?" Umemiya asked, now massaging his shoulders slower and deeper. He let his thumbs gently drive into his collarbones while his other eight fingers wiggled into the back plates of his shoulders.
Sugishita could barely keep up with this. He was a giggly mess, though his hands remained on his sides and he didn't try to fight back. He could hardly look at Umemiya in this state.
"Sugishita...don't be embarrassed...actually," Umemiya paused. All of this giggling, and he hadn't even realized that this was what he was looking for. A smile, a chuckle, anything that showed him Sugishita wasn't just a wall that couldn't be broken down. "Hah, I've got it..." He smirked, playfully shoving the first year back into his seat.
He watched confusedly as Umemiya came behind him, gently holding his wrists and putting them together into one of his hands. He held the ball of wrists up to expose his upperbody. Sugishita's white tee rose to reveal a toned belly that would probably break your hand if you punched it.
"Umemiya...san...what exactly are you doing?" He asked, trying to turn his head to face him. Umemiya met him halfway with a shit-eating grin plastered across his face. "Ume...miy-AH?!"
Sugishita squealed, an unusual sound for the boy, when he felt five fingers sprawl across his bare belly. The fingers were nice and gentle, but they still elicited an embarrassing laugh from the boy. He tried to close his mouth, but had a hard time as the fingers continued.
"This is your punishment. If you respect me as much as I think you do...you will sit here and take it. Won't ya, Sugishita?" Umemiya teased, nuzzling the side of his nose against the boy's ear as he dipped a finger into his belly button.
He poked and prodded, never going too fast, but then again, never stopping. It was the somehow perfect mix of gentle and quick, just enough to make Sugishita giggle and squirm, but not enough to make him full-blown laugh and resist.
"This...is nohot fahair...Uhumehemiya...he-hehey!" Sugishita chuckled, stomping his feet against the hard floor. He giggled particularly loudly when Umemiya pinched the center of his waist. He noticed this, as he noticed every other little thing, and took it into account.
Umemiya freed Sugishita's wrists, mostly out of curiosity. He believed that the boy would stay in the seat, and for some reason, he actually did.
"Hm...learned your lesson?"
Sugishita nodded, head down, facing his lap. This was enough for Umemiya to know that he, in fact, did not learn his lesson.
The slender boy was about to get up when Umemiya walked around in front of him, shoving him back on his ass. He looked up to see the older boy with his arms crossed, towering over him.
He wanted to look back down at his lap, but something told him that he should keep eye contact. Maybe it was out of respect? Or maybe it was because he felt like Umemiya wasn't finished yet?
The latter answer was correct, in this case. Umemiya was not finished. He took as many steps closer as he could until their knees were touching. Then, he bent over and began pinching at Sugishita's waist like a crab. A very tall...white-haired crab.
These pinches made Sugishita squirm in his chair. He held onto the arms and squeezed the wooden handles, almost leaving marks. If he were to let go, he surely would've fallen out of his damn seat.
"This...is soHOHoho...agh, I cahan't...spEHEak!" Sugishita was between giggling and laughing now. If Umemiya were to pinch him any harder, he would have easily begun to laugh.
"So, what was that right there? You just spoke, dummy," He teased, ruffling the boy's long hair with one hand while snaking his other hand underneath his shirt. He crept to the right side of his ribcage, gently pinching every step of the way.
The boy could barely stop himself from stomping out of his shoes, let alone could he stop himself from full-on laughing.
"OhoKAY, OKAY, I'M SOHORRY!" Sugishita yelped and squealed, his vision blurry and covered by his hair now. He didn't mind the messing of his hair if it meant one less hand tickling him, though. Unfortunately, he jinxed it. The hand in his hair moved to his neck, fluttering across the sides very softly and deliberately.
"This..." Umemiya squeezed his side intently. "...is not about an apology. It's about you...well, like I said, loosening up! Mentally...and maybe even physically," He chuckled, now trying his best to wiggle his fingers into his armpit, which was being covered by his arm.
Sugishita understood what he meant, but whether or not he wanted to actually apply it to his life was a different story. He'd listened to and obeyed everything Umemiya had asked him to do before now, so why was this any different?
"Can you do that for me?" Umemiya asked, leaning his face down to meet Sugishita at eye level. He nonchalantly moved his arm up with one hand and began to flutter his fingertips against the hollow of his bare right armpit with the other. "Hm? Can you?"
Sugishita nodded, now biting his lip until it turned red and he couldn't anymore. He laid his head back against the end of the chair and howled with laughter. The fingers touching his armpit right now were gentle and teasing, which somehow tickled even worse than if they were digging and drilling.
"Nah, that won't do, Sugishita...I need a verbal response," He winked, now wiggling his fingers directly into the center of his slightly sweaty armpit. It was hot in the classroom, and all of this tickling had him breaking a sweat. "Please and thank ya."
The long-haired boy was pounding his feet against the floor and trying to find a place for him to put his hands. If he hit Umemiya, he would surely be sitting there for an hour, but he couldn't hold onto the chair's arms forever.
"Ohokay! OKAHAY, YEHES! Yes, yes, yehehes! I wihill...be loohoose! Lehess mehean! Ohokay?!" Sugishita squealed, shutting his eyes and unrealizingly gripping Umemiya's shoulders.
Umemiya laughed as he felt the boy's hand find his shoulders. He didn't get upset; he honestly thought it was pretty cute. After about thirty seconds more of wiggling his fingers into his armpit for no good reason, other than seeing him smile, Umemiya stopped.
He watched Sugishita brace for whatever was next. Sugishita didn't expect Umemiya to bring his hand out of his shirt, nor did he expect the boy to hold his neck and gently place a peck on the top of his messy-haired head.
"There. Ya earned it. No more tickling." Umemiya smiled, backing away. He extended a hand, and Sugishita immediately grabbed it, pulling himself up. He looked Umemiya in his eyes and smiled. Halfway. Honestly, Umemiya didn't know what it was, but it wasn't a frown, and that's all that he cared about.
"C'mon," Umemiya threw an arm around Sugishita's neck and guided him out of the room. He fixed his hair before they exited the door. "Let's go get somethin' to eat. On me. Consider this a reward."
Sugishita chuckled, naturally. He seemed happy, almost pleased by what he had just gone through. It made Umemiya proud of himself and proud of Sugishita as well.
i think sakura’s feet are superrshdh ticklish. i read a fanfic one day where he got his feet tickled and this has stuck with me ever since. his toes are especially sensitive. but overall, he’s probably ticklish everywhere and anywhere lol
akihiko nirei
my (second) favorite windbreaker character! nobody can tell me that he doesn’t have multiple unusual ticklish spots—his ears, chin, elbows, ankles, etc… each one can be gently tickled for full effect. i feel like he’s way more prone to gentle tickles opposed to rougher tickles. a cliché feather, twirled under his chin, would certainly have him giggling in no time
kyotaro sugishita
i instantly got chest vibes from the second i saw him. like the entire chest area, including his pecs and nipples are pretty ticklish and sensitive. his knees and legs as well, i think he’d be a pretty easy guy to crack lol
hayato suo
armpits armpitsahdfhs his armpits are definitely crazy ticklish, i dunno why but i’m just getting super ticklish vibes from that spot. i can imagine ume coming up behind him and digging his fingers under his armshabdj
hajime umemiya
bellybellybellystomachtummybelly just like with suo, i get huge belly vibes from ume!! idk why but he seems like the type of guy to have a cute and ticklish tummy. belly button as well. a few pokes and scribbles would have him chuckling quickly
toma hiragi
hiragi reminds me of kirishima from mha so much, and coincidentally i feel like most of his ticklish spots are just like kiri’s. i definitely think his neck is super sensitive and ticklish, alongside his ribs. to tickle his ribs effectively, i think you’d have to add some pressure and be a little harder with the tickling.
Sakura spluttered, backing away from his rapidly approaching upperclassman, a bright red flush spreading over his cheeks as he met Umemiya's gaze, a mad big brotherly grin on his face as he advanced on him.
It had been a comfortable fall morning, one which Sakura had spent the majority of on the school roof with Umemiya, having been put on garden duty with him that day, much to Sugishita's jealousy.
At some point, he'd managed to goad Umemiya to spar with him during one of their breaks, but only on the condition that it was a casual tap out style spar, and that the loser of said spar would have to endure a punishment of the winner's choice upon admitting defeat.
Sakura had agreed to these terms pretty easily, figuring that even if he did win, Umemiya would just pick something stupid and insignificant anyway, like pulling weeds or taking a selfie with him using one of those stupid filters he liked so much.
Looking back on it now though, lying flat on his back with his upperclassman hovering over him, fingers wiggling ominously over his stomach, he was beginning to think he should've asked more questions first...
Umemiya pouted a little at his resistance as he sat atop his thighs gently, careful not to settle his full weight on the smaller boy, though he was unable to hide the slight flicker of amusement in his eyes at Sakura's embarrassed spluttering.
"C'mon Sakura, it was the deal. We both shook on it remember?" He reminded gently, though yo his credit, he still didn't move to do anything until he got a proper go ahead from him. Deal or not, he wasn't going to do anything that Sakura was truly uncomfortable with. The last thing he ever wanted to do was force him, especially now that he was finally opening up to them all.
"It would only be for a minute, yeah?" He encouraged with a gentle smile when Sakura went a long while without saying anything, debating with himself as he averted his gaze.
Eventually, he huffed, grumbling a little as he finally nodded his consent. "Rghh... Fine, whatever.. Just get it o-ohohohover with alreheadyahaha!! Aahaha?!! Umehehemiyahahaa!!"
His voice cracked, eyes widening in alarm when the Bofurin Leader wasted no time at all in digging his fingers into his midriff, a beaming grin coming to his face when Sakura immediately burst into surprised laughter.
Sakura had no idea how to react. His friends had tickled him here and there a few times, but never like this! He'd never had anyone play around with him like this before. It was confusing, overwhelming, a little scary and yet... Fun... Really fun actually...
He couldn't remember ever laughing like this before, and as embarrassing as it was to be made helpless like this, some small part of him couldn't help but find it kind of nice. Umemiya's hands were gentle and warm, his smile bright and eyes full of endearment and careful attention.
True to his word, Umemiya only kept it up for about a minute or two before he let up, chuckling a little in fond amusement while Sakura caught his breath, ruffling his hair playfully before giving him a hand up.
And as the two of them made their way down from the rooftop together, on their way to Pothos to grab a quick bite together, Umemiya's treat, Sakura inwardly couldn't help but think that maybe, just maybe... He wouldn't mind playing around like that more in the future...
Kiryu couldn't help but to snicker at the startled look on Nirei's face, eyes blown wide and a wobbly little grin on his lips as he straightened and whipped around to look at the pink haired boy, startled after he'd playfully snuck up and blew on the base of his neck while he'd been absorbed in his notebook.
He'd only meant to spook Nirei a little, a playful way of getting his attention after calling out to him had failed, but instead, the shorter boy had almost immediately let out a shriek, giggling brightly as he brought his hands up to cover his neck protectively.
"Ehehehe.. Kiryu-san, you scared me!" He gasped, seeming relieved when he realized it was only Kiryu messing with him, and not some creepy bug or something crawling down his shirt. He shuddered at the mere thought.
Kiryu smiled apologetically at him, feeling a bit bad to have made him jump so badly, but at the same time, he couldn't help but to give into the urge to mess with him a little more anyway, snickering as he easily tugged Nirei's hands back out of the way and nuzzled his face into the base of his neck, blowing on his ears and scribbling at his shoulders playfully as Nirei burst into renewed giggles.
"Ehehehe!! Kiryu-sahahahaan!" Nirei whined, caught off guard for a whole other reason now, though he really didn't do much to actually try and escape at all, allowing Kiryu to continue his playful assault with very little resistance.
"Nirei-kuhuhuhun~!" Kiryu sing songed back mockingly, snickering as he hovered over the blonde mischievously, switching to dig his fingers into his sides instead as he blew a raspberry into the crook of his neck and making him squeal.
He never did end up remembering why he'd been trying to get Nirei's attention in the first place, but at the end of the day, he supposed it didn't matter that much, so long as they both had fun in the end!
"Ugh! What?!" The blonde haired second year finally snapped, whipping his head around to glare at his senior, yanking the lollipop out of his mouth as he finally gave in to the relentless third year's pestering, who looked all too pleased with himself to be bugging his kouhai like this.
Garden Duty.
When Kaji had first heard his name called over the intercom assigning him to the task earlier this morning, he had gritted his teeth so hard in disdain that Enomoto had ended up scolding him for it.
The reason for his irritation being less targeted at the gardening part itself, and more towards the dreaded 'heart to heart' mushy kind of talk that Umemiya-san without a doubt intended to drag him into. Asking for help with his gardening was just Umemiya's favorite way of covering up an impromptu therapy session.
Real smooth senpai...
Umemiya, to his credit, hardly seemed offended by his withering glare or sharp response however, and instead the Bofurin leader merely breathed out a fond sigh at his kouhai's snippy response, shaking his head.
"Look Kaji.. I know you really don't want to be up here, but Enomoto and Kusumi are worried about you. You've been more irritable lately ever since the new first years arrived, and I want to make sure you're not getting burned out with all the extra responsibilities, that's all." He states, patient as ever, "I care about you just as I do everyone else here, so if there's something bothering you, I'd rather you talk to someone about it than keep it all bottled up inside."
Kaji's hand tensed a little around the sprout he was currently transplanting in the soil, taking in his senior's words with a reluctantly thoughtful expression. If he'd just been a little better at keeping it together, then he wouldn't have made his vices worry, and then Umemiya-san wouldn't-
"Kaji."
Umemiya's firm voice suddenly broke through Kaji's mental spiral, making the younger teen look up in surprise when the elder's hand suddenly settled around his own, a silent command to loosen his grip on the poor plant he'd been choking out this entire time, and his fingers reluctantly slackened.
"I'm not burned out." Kaji finally spits out after a long moment, sticking his lollipop back in his mouth to quietly quell his irritation. "It's just weird.. Having all those new guys coming up and asking me stuff like I'm some... I don't know, like I'm supposed to know everything or something..." He grumbles, looking down at the plant he'd just very nearly crushed in his grip.. It was only just barely beginning it's life, and yet he had very nearly let his temper take over and destroy it..
How Morbidly poetic..
Umemiya stares at him for a bit, settling his chin onto his open palm as he thought over what response he should give him. Sure, he could always just tell him to 'leave it to his big brothers' or to 'just take it one step at a time', but he had a feeling neither of those things would really do much to ease the boy's mind any.
"You know?" He finally began after a while, "When I first started gardening, I didn't have any idea what I was doing. I made a lot of mistakes. I'd end up overwatering something, not give it enough sun, sometimes I did something wrong and I wouldn't be able to figure out what exactly for weeks." He admitted, "It was frustrating, and it took a lot of time, trial, an error before I eventually found my footing with it."
"It was the same when I first took over here too. I screwed things up a lot. Sometimes the others would even have to step in and bail me out." He sighs, chuckling a little to himself as he recalled the many, many mishaps and blunders he'd made early on in his leadership.
"Everyone makes mistakes Kaji. No one can be perfect, and as much as I'd like to tell you that you'll do fine and that there's nothing for you to worry about, I can't honestly guarantee that you're never going to make a bad call, or fall short some days." He states honestly, causing the younger to frown a little.
"Leadership is difficult, and it's a learning experience. It's a path lined with both failure and success alike, and you're just about guaranteed to make a few mistakes along the way." He continues, "The important thing to remember through those moments though, is that it's ok for you to admit your shortcomings, and ask for the help of the people who decided you were the right person to put in this position in the first place. Your classmates, your vices, and even your upperclassmen, they wouldn't have chosen you for the job if they didn't think you could handle it. And when you can't? To have the wisdom to know when you need to ask for a little help."
Kaji gapes a little at that, eyes wide and chest feeling inexplicably lighter, and Umemiya laughs a little at his expression before playfully ruffling his kouhai's hair, causing the blonde to flush a deep red as he swatted his hand away irritably.
"Oi! What gives?!" He hissed, trying to fix his tussled hair in a fluster, while Umemiya merely laughed at him, completely unperturbed by the younger's complaints as he gently settled his hands onto his shoulders. Firm, steady, reliable, but not at all suffocating or overbearing. Never painful or forceful. Like a leader's hands should be, and he couldn't help but let his gaze briefly flicker down to his own. He wanted his own to be like that too, someday...
"Kaji." Umemiya repeated his name, catching his attention before he could begin to spiral again, and the blonde looked up at his senior questioningly.
Part of him was expecting Umemiya to continue expanding upon his earlier points again, or maybe start trying to pry more of his own thoughts out of him, much like a gardener tilling up the soil, agitating it to help the sprout grow better in the future.
What he didn't expect however, but perhaps maybe he should have, was...
"AahahaaAHCK?!? Wait! What are you-?! Don't- Ahahaaha!! U-Umehehemiya-sahahan!! Wahaha!! Hehey!!" Kaji screeched ungracefully when the older student abruptly released his shoulders, and quickly dove his hands underneath his arms, all thoughts both self deprecating and otherwise coming to an abrupt halt when his upperclassman suddenly began pinching and scribbling at the spot.
The younger teen let out a rather embarrassing scream as he jolted backwards, quickly trying to kick and scramble out of his upperclassman's hold, but unfortunately for him, his efforts came to no avail.
"No! No nohohot this!! Stahahahap!!" He giggled, squirming from side to side to try and escape the tingling sensation. Kaji really should've seen something like this coming... Umemiya had a downright awful habit of resorting to such methods as this whenever he got the inkling that one of his 'family' might not be in the best of spirits. Corny jokes, hair ruffles, tickling... All of that and more are a very real threat the moment a person decides to associate themselves with the likes of Hajime Umemiya...
And Kaji, unfortunately for him, was no exception...
"Ah! Ahahaahahmmmph!!" He giggled, growling a little and trying to suppress his childish reactions as his upperclassman gently pushed him to lay on his side, digging into his waist and stomach with playful pokes and prods that made him want nothing more than to crawl out of his skin right that very moment.
"Aawww Kaji, don't hide~." Umemiya cooed at him, laughing a little when Kaji tried to land a proper hit on him, only to miss entirely due to his lack of proper coordination at the moment. 'Curse you Umemiya! Curse you and your stupid plants, and your stupid smile, and your stupid, stupid-!'
"EYAAAAHA!! AAahahahaaha?! No!! Nohohoho! Nohohot thehehere!!" Kaji suddenly screamed, forgetting all about his mental cursing when Umemiya suddenly shifted his playful attention onto his ribcage, scribbling lightly over the bones in just such a way that it tickled like mad.
Some others in Kaji's past might have viewed the kid as a monster, nothing more than a troublemaking beast that couldn't control himself, but Umemiya didn't see him that way at all. In his eyes, Kaji was a lot like a fire. Something that could be dangerous when treated without the proper respect, but when nurtured correctly, it had the endless potential to provide a steady source of light and unwavering warmth that extended to every person fortunate enough to know him.
And it wasn't just Umemiya. To the others here in Bofurin as well, Kaji was considered family. He was one of them. Always would be, and because of that, it was his responsibility, as one of his many honorary 'older brothers' here at Bofurin, to make sure that Kaji was aware of that fact, and to also remind him that he was more than capable of the task that his classmates had entrusted him with.
First things first however, he needed to cheer the younger teen up a little, and judging from the happy and embarrassed flush that was currently spreading across the blonde's cheeks as he flopped around and giggled, this method was working just fine.
So he kept it up for a while longer, letting the melodic sound of his kouhai's laughter fill the silence, until eventually, Kaji seemed to have had enough and swatted him twice on the arm, Bofurin's universal and semi-official language for a tap out.
"Ahhh... Ahahaha... You- Youhohou're suhuhuch a... A jeheherk.." Kaji huffed out when Umemiya finally stopped, and he grumbled a little halfheartedly when he felt the elder tousle his hair a little while he recovered.
While Kaji lay there catching his breath, Umemiya stood and went to grab two ice cold water bottles from the cooler, holding beverage out for the younger to take once he had sat up properly, laughing a little when Kaji snatched the bottle from him with a pout.
A somewhat peaceful kind of silence settled over the pair after that, no other noise to disturb them but the sound of the gentle windchimes in the distance and the crinkling plastic in their hands as they both enjoyed the cool refreshments.
"You might not know what you're doing yet when it comes to supporting these new kids, Kaji, but don't forget that you're not the only upperclassman they have." Umemiya says after a while, looking out over the nearby town of Makochi with a soft expression, "All of them are different, and they each may end up needing different things from different people in order to thrive. No one person is able to be everything for any one individual, so if you ever find that there's something you're not able to provide for one of them, all you gotta do is steer them towards someone that can."
"Leadership isn't just about providing for and protecting the people under your charge yourself," He states, "it's also about helping those under you to find their own unique strengths and talents, and then directing them to people and positions that will best help them to utilize those gifts."
"As long as you can do that? I think you're going to do just fine Kaji. I believe in you, and a lot of other people have faith in your leadership abilities too. So don't worry so much, yeah?"
Kaji gaped at him, a small flush crossing the bridge of his cheeks in response to Umemiya's words, reminding the elder of a certain dual haired first year who seemed to share a similar set of struggles to the blonde in front of him. The two of them really were alike, even if neither one would ever willingly admit to it.
"Th-Thanks... Or whatever.." Kaji blurts out suddenly, voice small and bashful compared to the usually abrasive and blunt tones he was known for, not giving Umemiya even the slightest chance to comment on his moment of softness before he quickly stood and bolted for the door.
"D-Don't you dare think that means I'm forgiving you for tickling me though! I'll get you back!" The blonde promises, before slamming the door shut in a huff as he leaves. Umemiya chuckles a little at that.
Yeah. Bofurin definitely had a bright future ahead of it.
