Aster rolled his eyelights deep into his sockets. ‘The cause of the same fate’, yada-yada-yada... all rhetoric he’d heard when he was flung into the Void, all bullcrap he’d much sooner forget. The fact that this old--nay, ancient, he had to have been at least as old as his grandfather, if not older--man believed it didn’t surprise him, though. When someone got to that age, he thought, they got stuck in their ways far too easily. Miserably so. And the omni-Gaster thing was so damn prevalent in the Void...
He let out a bitter sigh, leaning back further in his chair. It creaked, obviously whining about the skeleton’s pressure on it.
“Naaaahhhh, short-fused, me?” He kept speaking in Aster, mostly to bother the other skeleton (at least, he somewhat hoped it would bother him). “Besides.” Now he was tapping on his desk, sharpened phalanges making clicking noises. “I already fell in, grandpa, so ya can take yer bullshit ‘same fate’ rhetoric and jam it down yer throat. I got out. Jus’ like everyone said I couldn’t.
“But yeah. I did that too. ‘Cause I ain’t ever lettin’ that omni-Gaster bullshit come creepin’ up onta my shoulders again. I ain’t some cog in the timeline machine.” Aster grimaced, feeling suddenly very vulnerable. “Not now. Not ever.”
