Getting ready for Samhain
So I finally made an altar. It’s just a simple collection of items on my windowsill and around my window, but I feel like altars don’t have to be extravagant. I like it.
I chose items that meant something to me (almost all of these items were gifts), and I cleansed them under running water and with my own energy, blessing each item with a specific intent for each. The curtain is actually a scarf, but I like it better as a curtain. ;)
I’m still in the broom closet to some people, so I kept it simple (it just looks like my standard decorations for my room) and also blessed Nikolas (my lion) to protect the altar from being messed with, negative energy, and such.
Hopefully this helps if you are looking at making your own altar! Mine isn’t dedicated to any particular deity, seeing that I am a Pantheist, so it’s more of an altar of protection, a sacred space to perform spells, an inspiration, a place of growth, a spot to charge things in sunlight or moonlight, and a place set aside for any other need. :)
