Do I know the names of each moon phase? No.
But do I know where the moon is in her cycle? Do I glance up at her every night just to check in? Do I keep in mind if the shadow we cast on her is growing or decreasing right now? Can I predict when the full or new moon will be based on where she is in her current unnamed phase? YES!
And that's the thing, humans have named natural phenomenon a million different things a million different times. None of which matters to the phenomenon itself.
To have a relationship with nature, the universe, the earth. You don't need to spend all this extra time memorizing scientific names. Instead, spend that time and effort observing. Noticing. Tracking. Even if you make up your own words on accident, the moon can't tell the difference.
Even if you falter, and forget to check in for a week, a month, a year. The moon never leaves. She'll always be up in the sky, either shrouded in darkness invisibly watching over us or brightly lit up like our other friend the sun. Whenever you want to reconnect and glance up she'll be there.
Stressing about tracking her every move will only strain your relationship. Stressing about memorizing just one set of the many names people have put onto her cycle will only strain your relationship. Stressing about full moon celebrations that may or may not fit into your schedule or come naturally to you is only going to strain your relationship.
Do what feels natural, do what makes sense for you and makes you happy. There is no right way to be pagan. There is only what you feel in your heart to be true. This goes for literally everything btw
Flag for the belief in the Universe - specifically based on the belief in the Universe from In Stars And Time.
!! This is best described as a neo-faith, or ficto-faith. It is also similar to but distinct from religion, as "faith is a personal belief, trust, and loyalty, (...) while religion is a structured system of beliefs, practices, and rituals"
There is no concrete set of beliefs to go with the belief in the Universe, but there are associations for this version, such as;
Planetary/astral bodies, especially stars
Wish Craft (link to ISAT wiki, spoiler warning)
Wishing rituals
Star charts and constellations
Celestial navigation
Followers of this version of the faith would replace instances of expletives or the word God with "blinding" or "stars". Currently, the belief in the Universe has no shortened name, and not to break the vibe but i'd prefer to keep it that way, feels more fitting
As we (and isat's dev,) didn't invent the concept of following the Universe, anyone can do so with this inspiration. Anyone is also free to use the flag to represent your faith in the Universe. Credit appreciated but not required
Red version for all you freaks...
also our/my personal beliefs about the universe:
things will happen as they happen, and whatever we change was destined to be
there are multiple (infinite) universes
past life nonsense goes here (finishing life in one universe to be born into another)
the universe listens
the universe feels no particular way about you, specifically (unless its part of your personal belief that it loves you minecraft style or something)
wishes (in this universe) cant come true magically, you have to work for them, but belief and effort make it real
the universe will give you the means to make your wishes true, but its up to you to act on it and know how
the universes path for you is as its meant to be
a universe cannot die, and whatever ones will be born already have been just by imagining them
a universe may or may not be sapient or intelligent, but it is sentient / aware of its inhabitants *(big big asterisk this is just a Vibe, and may not be true for every universe)
Any other helpols incorporate pantheism into their practice? I'm starting to see the Gods as aspects of nature and being alive. I feel their presence and enjoy building kharis with them, but I also see them like that? Does that make sense? Like I feel most connected to them when I'm in nature.
Okay here’s the thing. I’d rather worship the plants and the air and the earth and the water and the fungi and the rocks and the animals and the people and the stars and the algae and the moon than worship any “God” that isn’t all these things. And yeah. Yeah I am absolutely judging the people who don’t worship this holy universe and the life that inhabits it because they’d rather worship a fake man who is not one with all of nature and humanity. When I see any human I see all of the universe. When I see a single pebble by the riverside I see all of humanity. Because the thing about all the beings that actually exist is that they are all one with each other. By worshipping any part of the natural world or any person, I am worshipping everything. Because everything is one. And if your “God” cannot do what even a speck of dust does every moment, your “God” doesn’t impress me at all and neither do you.
basically the belief that there isnt one conscious, sentient god, but rather that "god" or the divine or whatever is in everything, and ties everything in the universe together
it could be described as a religion, but its not really organized at all and there arent any real rules, so its more of a system of beliefs? I'm not the best at describing these things
basically just "god is everything, everything is god"
that includes people, animals, objects, time, space, etc
i know it’s common sense and also nobody really uses the phrase anymore but literally how was treehugger ever an insult. i don’t even hug trees myself but what is there to poke fun at about just..loving the world you live in? caring about other forms of life from you? forms of life that benefit you no less? humans really really need to remember that we’re animals just as much as the next species and we’re part of nature too, not above it. let’s just bring back treehugging honestly.
