12. How are they bodily expressive? How do they use nonverbal cues such as their posture, stance, eyes, eyebrows, mouths, and hands?

Laurelis is one of the most expressive people you will ever meet. To put it into perspective, I like to say that if you were to watch her read a book, you would be able to note whenever a plot twist appears, and perhaps make a guess as to what it is. She is constantly expressing what she feels with her face, her tail, her ears, her entire body. Her expression is a slideshow of emotions and might as well be an open book. Her ears showcase excitement, fear, anger, joy — her tail lashes when she’s angry, spikes up in shock or anger or indignation. She moves her hands when she speaks, even moreso the more passionate she is. She is exceptionally expressive.

32. Do they have any “props” that are a significant part of their life, identity, activities, or self-presentation somehow? What are they, how are they used, and why are they so significant? How would these props’ absence impact them, how would they compensate, and why?

P-please don’t take her glamour prisms away...or her makeup...

Laurelis is addicted to glamour prisms. She uses them constantly. She goes through wardrobe changes almost daily depending on what sort of mood she’s in. She just wouldn’t be Laurelis if she couldn’t prim her appearance just the way she wanted to. She absolutely hates wearing clothes that don’t meet her standards of “cute” and she’d probably have an existential crisis if she couldn’t have glamour prisms or makeup anymore ever. It’s an enormous part of her self-image and presentation. To compensate she’d probably pick out the most aesthetically pleasing armour she could...but it just wouldn’t be the same. She’d be miserable.

All Saint’s Wake was only just getting under way, but Serella was bound and determined to share the joy in her favorite time of year with everyone she could. And really! Whoever was attempting to propagate the idea that the holiday was only for kids should reveal themselves because she would like to have a word about that!

While in costume and handing out treats and casting harmless little glamour charms of stars and other motifs, she meandered about Gridania’s old district in search of people who wanted to partake of the merriment. When she had circled back to the Amphitheatre, she spied a lalafell lass sat on one of the benches, looking on at those who were running about in glamours and costumes. Deciding it better to check and ensure everyone was having a good time, Serella approached.

“Good evening!” She greeted with cheer once she stood beside the woman.

The bright haired lass peered up at her curiously. 

“Good evening.” She said back cordially, but Serella could hear the question in her tone: what are you doing and why are to talking to me?

“I’m helping the Circus this year as a volunteer. My name is Serella.” She introduced herself with a bow.

“Lunya.” The onlooker introduced herself, though she smiled up at Serella.

“I thought I might offer you treats- or if you like, some glamour prisms to have a bit of fun with!” Serella gestured to her basket, overflowing with freshly made sweets and confections.

Lunya’s smile softened, though took on a tinge of sadness, if Serella didn’t know any better.

“Better the little ones have them.” Lunya said.

Serella got the distinct impression she was speaking with a fellow woman who was made to grow up too fast. The thought broke her heart, even if she wasn’t entirely sure she was right.

“I’ve plenty to spare- and All Saint’s Wake is for everyone to enjoy!” Serella insisted, and when her request to take a seat was met with a nod, gathered her skirts and plopped down beside her. “And besides-” 

Lunya startled when Serella smacked a glamour prism on her own face and was promptly engulfed in a puff of smoke. Since it was the season for it and all, Serella made a dramatic showing of her glamoured form, twirling with a flourish to show off her Admiral Merlwyb glamour. 

“‘Tis All Saint’s Wake, my dear! Who on earth is to know who is who?” Again, she offered Lunya the basket. “I say we make mischief and enjoy the night!”

“You scarcely know me.” Lunya laughed.

“I know none here! Is that not the point?” Serella dropped her Merlwyb voice imitation and offered her a lopsided grin as she asked, “aren’t we all just kids on days like today? Shouldn’t that be more than fine?”

Lunya considered her words a moment, and reached up to pluck a glamour prism from her basket. After studying it a moment, she used her free hand to grip Serella’s.

“That’s alright, then.” Lunya decided, and plopped the prism over her own head.
