After much deliberation, I’ve decided to open up writing commissions! \o/ Examples of my work can be found both on my blog, as well as my AO3 account!
To keep things simple, I will invoice you vial paypal at time of payment. I previously used Ko-Fi but it made pricing a bit odd and I prefer to just use even numbers rather than nickel and dime my clients after so long. I’ll eventually set up a little Ko-Fi shop with these rates but I haven’t messed with the site in so long I’m easing back into this lol
My updated rates are as follows:
up to ~1000 words: $30
1500 - ~2000: $40
2500 - ~3000: $60
3500 - ~4000: $80
4500 - ~5000: $100
Letter from your preferred character: Flat rate of $15
Note: If you want a letter centered around a specific holiday/important date, that does not increase the rate, just let me know so I can work it in!
***IMPORTANT NOTE: I’m something of a wordy author. If we previously agree upon a specific word count, and I wind up going over it by choice to make sure that you get the best version of what you asked for, I will not charge you more than was previously agreed on. If I’m going over that word count to make the story better, that’s my own choice, and not one that I would want to make you pay for when you didn’t agree to it in the first place.
Things I will write:
OC x NPC
Reader Insert
NSFW themed writing
friendship themed/otherwise platonic content
character study style content
Things I WILL NOT write:
rape/non con
incest
pedophilia
other potential themes, to be discussed with potential client
Please discuss ALL commission details BEFORE agreeing. I reserve the right to refuse an offered commission.
Of further note: I do not consent to my work, personal or commission work, being used for AI purposes.
Please contact me via discord at Siren1516 or via direct message!
UPDATE 2/17/24 I have increased my prices ahead of reopening comms, as I don’t want to surprise anyone by the change before they want to request a slot!
Not to sound gatekeepy and assholish but my biggest fear ever is The Crane Wives getting so popular that people give them the Mitski treatment of being boiled down to “music that makes you depressed” and ignoring the deeper meanings of their music.
It’s already a pattern in the greater sphere of their more positive songs getting wildly less recognition in favor of angst (not to mention the people who. Cough. Cannot use their reading comprehension with certain lyrics and metaphors) and while a lot of those songs are touching on an emotional level! So is Can’t Have It All! So is Daydreamer! Turn Out The Lights! Naked, The Night Falls! New Discovery!!!!!! RED CLAY!!!!!!!
we got lucky with Black Hole Fantasy but I fear this is could be a dire situation if left alone for too long. what’s your favorite positive tcw song please please please please
as a writer you will have a specific deck of vocab words you like using a lot and when you read other peoples' work you will see a very clear spread of different vocab words on their end. this is why you need to read, to collect other writers' words like it's a card game
daily affirmations: i am allowed to be weird on tumblr. i am allowed to post stuff that makes me seem crazy because it's fun to do that. no one is watching me panopticon style they are just following me normalstyle. i am allowed to be weird on tumblr.
really is embarrassing being known for being obsessed with a certain character bc if you start typing ‘arghhh i love Character so much Character is so peak’ it’s like yeah everyone knows. aw look grandma’s going on about her favorite old story again the fifth time this week
Hi, new followers! I'd like to add some context and a what you can do onto what I said about Dropout. My ask is open if you want a cool weed auncle to help you navigate your bad feelings right now, but I think most of these thoughts will be... helpful? Contextually resonant? Something to read in front of the microwave?
First, I still think Dropout is a net positive and will stay that way for some time. Before announcing the Rookies crossover, my issues with them were a few people who have had shit takes still being in their good graces (*1 will expand below). But they still give day rates to a lot of people who might get their power turned off without them (improv comedians are not wealthy, y'all, most actors/directors aren't either or not enough to factor in paying their team w/o getting paid themselves, & god help writers).
They let people exist in whatever their identity or shtick is and that's going to remain really important, YES EVEN FOR SILLY STUFF, as shit gets worse. Most of their practices are extremely impressive and some of them are standard setting for the industry. Some of these paychecks will get close to life or death or at least rent or living in someone's sewing room away from all your dreams, especially for queer folks & POC in this media landscape. I would prefer Dropout survive & avoid propaganda in the future than I would to see it crumble while we cackle anime-ly.
Second, WHAT YOU CAN DO - It is absolutely worth canceling & leaving in your cancelation notes OR emailing to say "when my membership is up in x months, I don't feel I can renew" or otherwise say, hey, you're a business. I get it. But this is the line for me and my dollar. I think the most likely situation is that Sam turned a show's need for a game show location into a deal that got the Variety coverage and some of his hardest workers paid. I see merit in that and recognize that any partnership they do will inherently be tainted by the fact that 4 companies own every story now. But I wouldn't have done it with fucking cop comedy (or dramedy or just... bad procedural, idk) & I wouldn't have done it with Nathan Fillion. So that's... both of those things exist.
THIRD...
Third, I don't think that you can expect Brennan to leave or for the group that took that opportunity to turn it down. Maybe I'll find out they own oil mines, but really and truly, these are not rich people. Nowhere I have ever worked has been ethical. The imagined nobility of being broke as shit in the works at WalMart or Target way doesn't actually stop bad things from happening. You may as well get to make good art sometimes & live in a slightly safer, better home and take gigs produced by evil, because your other option is suffering under the do evil corporation in a warehouse or at a cash register. If I have to report to a nepo baby who has no idea what it's like to come from what I come from, I won't pretend for a second that I wouldn't choose Sam Reich and making people laugh over the bosses I've had and the body-breaking, ptsd inducing work I've done.
I think some of you are being really dishonest about how clean your hands are and I don't know that clean hands mean anything but the privilege to do so and the same Puritanical notions that keep us in this cycle repainted for leftist online discourse. I don't think clean hands are useful. I think helpful hands, shaping hands, supporting hands are.
Overall, I wanna say this: You cannot out-suffer the evils of American capitalism. Taking organized shots is good, building mutual aid and community is good. But I think Americans have lost all sense of what that means and think that being willing to suffer is the same thing. I believe most people are doing their best, even if they draw lines where I don't. I do something that would be a no for someone else. If you sit in your room & stare at a dark wall & never consume media again, the CEOs & shareholders will still be evil shitlords. If you quit acting or dancing or improv to work a shitty job that isn't your dream, that CEO is also underpaying you & doing crime & you end up selling stuff from the bad arts company. The hard work is doing your best within the confines of what you need to stay alive and live. It is better to try and hold Dropout accountable while they are still small enough to listen to us than it is to preemptively give up on everything and be cynical at everyone around you.
With all that being said, this might mean I'm done with Dropout. It could mean that for you! Or maybe every month you match your sub amount in legal funds. I don't know. There is no one choice. We don't share one heart. Navigate what you need to navigate. Assume others are doing their best. If you truly believe they aren't, maybe it's time to remove them from your life.
*1 (just if people wanted a concept of this, it doesn't necessarily change my above points)
Caitlin Reilly's brand of humor is "women be stupid" rebranded (she likely has more range than this but this is what did well on TikTok so she committed to it) and she made TikTok sketches about Amber Heard and her legal team at the peak of Depp's DARVO social media campaign. She liked every shitty comment defending her when she was called in & ultimately deleted those posts without speaking on it whatsoever. Her Make Some Noise maybe filmed before that or its possible they don't know. But it really disgusts me she was on a second time. I also have to process that working with Nathan Fillion echoes that. The idea that abuse, coercion, media campaigns against people, are not a big deal. Defending Joss Whedon and making fun of Amber Heard while she's testifying about her SA are both arms of that violence.
Hank Green gave repeated lukewarm, nothing statements about the genocide in Palestine & took too long to do it. I don't care for his dorky do-gooder shtick regardless & that combined with cowardice doesn't leave any respect for him in my heart. In both these situations, I don't know if there are convos calling them in or who knows what. So while I'll be vocal every time they turn back up, I don't want to push for trotting people out and publicly shaming them for bad takes because statistically we will all be a stupid asshole about something at some point.
As a white person who lives far outside LAPD's jurisdiction, my thoughts on Dropout's upcoming collaboration with the copaganda show The Rookie are not important. I will add a small commentary of my own beneath a cut at the end, but I first want to elevate the voice of a Black member of our community whose guidance I will be following. Their name is Naomi Munroe, and they are a moderator of the group Game Changer: Samposting on Facebook. [Please note that Naomi is nonbinary and uses they/them pronouns. Additionally, if you repost this, they have asked that it be done as a screenshot with their name attached. Text has also been copied into alt text for accessibility. Link to the original post after the cut.]
Now, I do have a comment of my own that I would like to share. I know that Dropout's fanbase can be weird and parasocial. I don't try to come across that way, and I don't want to be perceived as another person making demands of a platform I've done nothing more than watch funny videos from. I know that not everyone is entitled to insider information on every concern and business decision ever.
But with the community in uproar on every platform I've been in (multiple Facebook groups, Tumblr, Bluesky, and I've heard also but don't use the platform formerly known as Twitter), it's been very hard to understand why nothing has been said by Dropout about it. There's been no statements on any platform. I'm not in a financial situation where I want to do superfan at the moment, but I've also heard secondhand accounts that it was barely mentioned in the livestream today beyond a hand-wavey, basic "they were good to work with," which does not address the actual issues at hand. I know that it's a privilege for me to be able to care about this a similar amount to the copaganda itself, but for a platform that's normally receptive, communicative, and open about these things, I just don't understand why they haven't said anything, and it's rather disappointing.
Like Naomi, I don't currently intend to act, because there's still much to be seen, but if it becomes a trend, I would certainly remember this if I were considering action on a future issue of a similar nature.
As a lover of all things Dropout who is also Black, I can’t lie and say I’m not a tad disheartened by not only their decision to partner wit
big fan of when a character metaphorically sweeps something under the rug, but you can feel them flinch every time they walk over it and feel the crumbs beneath their feet
The prompt for day 5 of Erenweek (2025) was Hidden Place. I always viewed Erenville as someone who is an incredibly emotionally closed off character. As such, he rarely, if at all, opens up — even to those closest to him. While I think he learns to be better about it in the long run, he still finds solace when on his own.
I have to remember I do have a tumblr.
In any case, I also wanted to announce I'm most active on bluesky now
i feel like a lot of fandoms pride themselves on being gayer than the source material but have they considered being less racist and less misogynistic than the source material as well . could be revolutionary
