Finch Appreciation Post
Reblog if you love Finch
Could I please request a Spot x reader where the reader is a newsie. Sheâs kind of shy. During the strike she finally meets Spot and they hit it off. And later the newsies find out and are surprised. Thank you âșïž
a/n: I did this as headcanons, hope thatâs okay. Thanks for the request!
- pictURE THIS
- youâre a little ball of shyness so the other newsies always make sure that one of them is with you when youâre not at the lodge
- it makes them feel better about you being out in the world and you feel comforted by how much they care
- they call you âThe Childâ or variations of that
- even if theyâre younger than you, theyâll say, âwhere is my child?â âdoes someone have the child?â
- itâs not derogatory or ill-willed, they just all want to protect their shy child
- when the strike first was conceptualised, they were all arguing before Jack could think it through
- you said, âI think itâs a good ideaâŠâ very softly
- they then all agreed and listened to what Jack had to say
- when the fight against the bulls happened you got soaked pretty good, it left you with a black eye and split lip
- the others felt bad for not watching you close enough but you brushed them off and said, âyou should see the other guyâ
- at the rally, you were set with the twins to welcome the various newsies to the venue and show them where to go
- it wasnât too hard for you, you just smiled and said hi, before pointing them in the right direction
- the Brooklyn newsies were the last to show up, Mike and Ike took led them through to the rally and you were left to let in any stragglers that were running a little late
- none of you realised that Spot Conlon hadnât shown up with the other Brooklyn boys and so when he did show up, you had no idea who he was
- you welcomed him and told him that the rally was starting soon, he offered to help you close the back doors before you went in
- the two of you started to talk about your day and he asked your opinion on the whole strike
- you told him that you thought it was a good idea and that the newsies deserve more than the way theyâre treated
- he listened intently and gave his own views
- you two really enjoyed the otherâs company and became close quickly
- when you reached backstage, you both decided to part ways to be with your own groups of newsies, but not before introducing yourselves
- âIâm (y/n), the others call me âThe Childâ. It was good to talk to you.â
-Â âIâm Spot Conlon, leader of the Brooklyn newsies. Lovely taâ meet you.â
- you sort of just said, âcoolâ and went off to find your friends, not really thinking much of it
- the rally went down okay at first, the other Manhattan newsies were a little worried for you when you were late but you reassured them that you werenât alone and they were fine
- the rally ended in a mess and you saw Spot in the distance, you caught his eye and mouth âsorryâ to him, he just shook his head and shrugged
- you didnât see him until you broke into the World to print your newsies banner, Jack kept you close because the newsies always listened to you
- Spot rocked up not long after you were inside the basement and immediately saw you
- he respectfully greeted Jack, Katherine and Davey before turning to you
-Â âhey, (y/n)â
-Â âhey, Spot. Howâs it goinâ?â
- needless to say, the other newsies were shook
- âhow do you know the child?â âwhen did you meet Spot Conlon?â âwhy are you guys so chummy?â
- you kind of just shrugged and told them that the strike was more important than the conversation at hand
- they let it go, FOR NOW
- you and Spot spent the rest of the strike practically conjoined, you paired up to spread the leaflets and talked more
- the two of you got very close ;) (haha jokes, not that close, yet)
- the two of you are side by side when you go to confront Pulitzer in his office, when you head down to Newsies Square he holds your hand for the first time and you blush so much
- cue awkward rambling and him laughing at how cute you are
- when Jack announces that you all won, you hug Spot so hard and laugh but then pull away suddenly because you realise what you did and start rambling
- he shakes his head at you and grabs your cheeks, you stop talking and he kisses you sweetly
- you melt into the kiss and wrap your arms around his neck
- the newsies lose their shit
- âmy child is all grown up!âÂ
-Â âIâm older than you, Race.â
-Â âyou will always be my child.â
- you eventually move to Brooklyn to be near Spot, you visit Manhattan whenever possible
- they still call you âThe Childâ well into adulthood
can you do spot x reader where the reader goes with jack to tell spot ab the strike, and spot and the reader flirt back and forth, and it ends with spot asking her out for a date?
a/n: I havenât had a Spot request for a while, nor have I written or him in a while. Thanks for the request! Tbh when writing this, I looked up a picture of Tommy Bracco to get his eye colour and such correct, but got caught staring at his eyes because theyâre overly beautiful, wtf? Also, see if you can pick up on my Easter egg to one of my other writings.
Warning: my sucky flirting skills, seriously theyâre awful, donât flirt with me ever.
âAlright, whoâll take Brooklyn?â Jackâs question made everyone look in any direction but him, âcâmon, Brooklyn? Spot Conlonâs turf. Finch, you telling me your scared of turf?â
âI ainât scared of no turf,â the boy shot up to protest but slowly sat down again, âbut that Spot Conlon gets me all jittery.â
âIâll take Brooklyn,â the newsies heads all snapped to you, where you sat in the back corner of Jacobiâs.
âYouâll take Brooklyn?â Mike asked a concerned look on his face.
âI mean, how bad can this Spot guy be?âÂ
Protests rung out across the diner before a girl, you soon found out to be named Katherine, ran in and told you all that she could get you all into the paper. It was finally decided that Jack, Davey and yourself would go to Brooklyn to talk to Spot Conlon, obviously Les went with you because Davey was adamant to not have him leave his side.
After lunch the four of you made started your trek across the Brooklyn Bridge. The journey was arduous and only worsened once you got into Brooklyn territory, you were watched from every street corner and alley by Spotâs birds. The feeling of being watched was unsettling as you reached the front doors of the Brooklyn Lodging House.Â
Once inside, the four of you were escorted to their common area. You were told to sit and wait on a busted up couch in the centre of the room.
âThis is all quite dramatic, ainât it?â you said once you were alone. Jack mumbled something about Spot always doing this whilst Davey and Les nodded in agreeance.Â
You waited in bated silence for five minutes before the door opened again. You raised your eyebrow at the two boys that entered the room. They took point on either side of the armchair across from you and the others. From the doorway another boy entered, he was considerably shorter than the two other boys but he was stocky and well-built. His shirt had no sleeves leaving his branch-like biceps on display. Now that you noticed, none of them had sleeves which was strange.
The boy sat down in the armchair and the door behind him was shut behind him. Now that you could see his face clearly, you were stuck by just how gorgeous he was. His hair was tucked neatly under his cap, as most newsies did, including you. You took in his face, his deep brown eyes drew you in and caught your breath in your throat, thick eyelashes framing them beautifully. His jaw could cut glass and his cheekbones could cut you if you were to touch them. A small smirk presented itself on his pink lips and you found yourself licking your own as you both stared at each other.
Jack coughed loudly which broke you out of your trance, you blushed when Jack raised his eyebrow at you and shook his head with a smile. The boy, who you assumed was Spot Conlon, turned to Jack after throwing you a quick wink.
âWhy yaâ here, Jackâ he asked, his accent was thick and his voice deep, you almost melted on the spot.
âWeâs organising a strike,â Jack spoke with an authority that youâd never heard before, âand we want to know if Brooklyn is in?â
âAnd what is you striking against?â Spot had an air of power and command around him that youâd be honest, was really enticing.
âWeâre striking against the papes,â Davey chimed in, though not as confidently as Jack, âwe want fairness. The papes price has risen and thatâs not okay, weâre not going to be walked over by Pulitzer.â
âThatâs great, kid,â Spot stared down Davey, like a lion would watch itâs prey. Waiting for a break of confidence.Â
Nervously, Les gripped your hand from his seat next to you. You held his shaking hand tightly and comforted him as best as you could.
âSo what do yaâ want from me?â Spot looked at your hand that was intertwined with Lesâ instead of the other boys which made you slightly nervous.
âWe want you to support us so that we can get backed by the other newsies around New York,â Jack said, pulling Spotâs attention back to him.
âHow do I know that you wonât bounce at the first sign of trouble?â the question caught the two boys off-guard, so you decided to intervene.
âBecause weâre fighting for a good cause, and we ainât backing down,â Spot looked you in the face and smirked once again.
âIs that so,â he spoke with amusement and intrigue, âand what is your name, beautiful?â
â(y/n),â you decided to not waste any time, he was cute and flirting with you, so what could go wrong?
âGorgeous name for a gorgeous person,â the grin on his face grew.
âWhy thank you, handsome,â he seemed pleased with the name and so you knew youâd found your in, âdid you lift something heavy before you walked in here? Your arms look so strong.â
âYou think so?â you were surprised that your flirting was actually working, usually it was abysmal, at least thatâs what Romeo and Race would always say.
âIâll be honest, beautiful,â he continued, âwhen I first walked in here, I was pretty wary. But aftaâ seeing your face, I thought I walked into a museum.â
âHowâs that?â you were genuinely curious as to where this line was going.
ââCause you are a masterpiece to look at,â his words caught you off-guard and you blushed deep red.
âI could say the same about you,â that was all you could get out, he was intimidatingly handsome.
âThink I could take you out sometime?â another thing that shocked you. He wanted to take you out, on an actual date. Your heartbeat sped up and you smiled sweetly at him.Â
Unbeknownst to you, Spot was nervous beyond belief. The King of Brooklyn rarely got nervous, but you were beautiful, radiant and down-right spectacular to look at. He didnât want to mess this up, he genuinely wanted to get to know you. The way you talked made his heart race and when you smiled at him, he felt like he was going to faint.
âIâd love to,â your response shocked everyone in the room, the boys by your side looked at you with wide eyes, âmaybe after you help us win this strike.â
âYou drive a hard bargain, sugar,â Spot wanted to help you and come at your beckon-call but he knew he couldnât logistically do that, âif you can show me that you wonât crumble at the sight of trouble, then and only then, will I support you. But I need to see that you mean it.â
Jack clenched his fist but agreed to the terms, whilst you and Les sat in silence. Â Jack and Davey spoke in hushed tones to the side and Spot simply stared at you, without a care.
âThank you or seeing us, Spot,â Jack said as he stood from the couch. Davey and Les following his lead in shaking Spotâs hand and heading to the door to be escorted back out to the street.
You sat still for a moment before getting to your feet and looking Spot in the eye. You had no clue what to say. Youâd never felt this strongly about someone in a positive way before, you didnât even know what to do. You nervously stuck your hand to shake his. He gripped your hand and shook it gently, you both stared into each otherâs eyes before you coughed and pulled away awkwardly.
âLook, (y/n),â he spoke quietly and with far less confidence than before, âI wish I could help you guys, but you need to understand that itâs not whatâs best for my newsies.â
âI know, Spot,â you reassured him with a small smile, âI get it, you gotta look out for these kids and I gotta look out for mine. You better be ready for that date though, because I promise you that we will win this.â
âI hold you to that, sugar,â he winked and you walked past him towards the door.
âSee yaâ round, Spot,â with that you walked out of the room to find your friends.Â
âSee yaâ, (y/n),â he spoke to thin air long after you were gone.
âWhat about Brooklyn?â
âIâd say they were definitely impressed,â Jack replied, âdonât you think Davey?ââOh, definitely,â Davey spoke whilst both of them eyed you off to the side. You replied with a shrug.
âWhat can I say? Spot loved what we had to say,â you spoke with a smirk.
Some Connor x touch starved reader head cannons? Thanks đđ
a/n: love the boy, Conman. Sorry this took a while, itâs been an odd week or so for me but Iâll try get some more requests out asap. Thanks for the request! Fun fact: I did a fic that was very similar to this a little while ago.
- Connor is not very good at picking up on subtlety so if you want him to touch you at any time you basically have to tell him
- this means that a lot of the time you hold back until you almost burst and blurt that you want him to just hold you
- heâs really bad at picking up on it, seriously
- he doesnât know when to touch you because he wants to hold you all the time and youâre less wanting of that
- not that you donât love him holding onto you
- when he does pick up on you being touch-starved, itâs a whole different ball-park
- he loves to hold your hand at any moment, boy has large hands and they just engulf yours which you love
- he will kiss your forehead literally so much, all the time, he loves it
- heâll kiss your knuckles, your cheek, your shoulder, heâll just kiss you a lot, he loves to know the youâre there
- if you want he will cuddle you into oblivion, no doubt about it
- he will let you hang off him at anytime
- Connor loves to just hold you because youâre an anchor for him
- when youâre touched-starved he will let you hold onto him in any way you wish
- he especially loves when you ask him to just lay on you (like cats do to each other)
- heâll happily lay on you if you return the favour when he needs it
- will run his hands through your hair all the time, just as a small comfort
- hugs you from behind and rest his head on you
- rubs gentle circles on the back of your hand
- he loves to make sure that you are loved by never letting you get starved of his touch
Hey, I was wondering if you could write me something with Spot. I don't care what. You know why ~đ
a/n: anything for you, my dear. @bell-anon, feel better soon lovely.
Today was the worst day. First you woke up late and almost missed out on picking up your papers for the day. Then it rained which meant that all your papes got ruined anyway. By the end of the day, you were drenched, upset and 50 cents short. All you wanted to do was curl up in bed and hide away from the world.
You got back to the Brooklyn Lodging House well after everyone else did, your shoe got caught in a broken piece of footpath and you had to wrench it out of the crack. The other newsies watched as you dragged your sodden body through the lodge toward the bathroom. Once you reached the bathroom, you threw your shoe at the wall and sat on a stool to cry.
A soft knock on the door broke you from your tears and you sniffed, wiping your tears from your face.
â(y/n)?â Spotâs head poked through the slightly ajar door, his heart breaking when he say your current state. Your hair was drenched and sticking up at weird angles, your clothes were in a bad state and your face was covered in rain and tears.
âHey, Spot,â you said with false happiness, a fake smile plastered on your face, âIâm all good.â
âYou donât have to pretend, doll. Iâm your boyfriend, no faking with me.â
His words hit you hard and you broke down. He was immediately by your side and pulling you into his arms. You cried into his shoulder for who knows how long, all the built up emotions crashing down on you. He held you close and comforted you with loving words and small rubs on your back.
You stopped crying after a while, your body shaking a little from it but you felt far better than you did before. You smiled at your gorgeous boyfriend, he was so perfect to you.
âThank you, Spot,â you caressed his cheek gently, a small, thankful smile on your face.
âAnything for my true love,â his grin made you laugh. He always knew how to make you feel better.
âYouâre so cheesy,â poking his cheek lightly, âI love you so much.â
âYouâre my world, I love you too,â he kissed you softly and pulled you closer than before, âletâs get you dry and warm so you donât get sick.â
No matter how bad your day was, Â Spot always made the world that little bit brighter. He made you feel the love that he knew you deserved and thatâs all you could ever ask of him.
If you could do some Spot x Reader parenting hcs that would be great. (I will pay you with my first born child)
a/n: please keep your first born, I donât want itâŠ. please donât make me take it. Nah, jokes, mate. Thanks for the request! This is pretty short, but I hope you like it!
- you and Spot barely slept the first few months of having your baby
- the two of you took turns in the night to put the baby back to bed
- depending on the rotation sometimes youâd find Spot in the nursery in the morning, sitting in a chair with your baby swaddled to his front
- you almost cried every time at the sight of your little family
- you two were the best parents ever, you did everything as a couple and the baby just joined in
- youâd play around together, take strolls in the park and be the picture perfect young family
- you two were definitely worried at first, Spot wanted everything to be perfect for you and the baby, you just wanted to be a good parent
- as the baby grew up, you celebrated milestones together, their first time walking, talking and birthdays

-Â âThought you could get away with flirting with him, baby? Let me teach you a lesson.â

Hope you enjoy!
could you do follow up hcâs on the ask about les walking in on you and davey? like how it would be when you came back to the Jacobâs house to hangout or something? the first one was so goddamn funny
a/n: oh boy, can I? I totally can. Thanks for liking the first set of hcs. Thanks for the request! For yâall that want part 1 - Les Walking in on You and Davey HC
- the next time you saw Les was when you and Davey went to his parentâs house for dinner on a Sunday
- you and Davey hadnât seen any of the boys since that very awkward day and didnât exactly know what to do with the situation
- Daveyâs mother opened the door and invited the two of you in from the cold
- you both didnât see Les for a whole thirty minutes when you got to the house
- Daveyâs mum called Les for dinner and as soon as he saw you both his face turned red
- Daveyâs face mirrored his little brotherâs and you sat awkwardly looking between the two
- safe to say that dinner was very awkward
- Daveyâs parents didnât really know what was happening between you three but the tension and lack of talking made them raise an eyebrow at each other
- Daveyâs father tried to make conversation with you and you were as polite as you could be with Les staring straight at you, it was quite unsettling
- Davey barely said a word, stuffing his face politely with food when everyone was talking and Les simply stared between you and Davey intermittently
-Â âOkay, someone better tell me what is going on with you three right now. Or no desert.â
- the three of you snapped to see a very annoyed looking Mrs. Jacobs and quickly looked between here and each other
- Davey practically choked on his water which he took an untimely drink out of and you flushed red, the both of you think over what to say
- Les however didnât think for even a second before telling his mother
-Â âI WALKED IN ON DAVEY AND (y/n) HAVING SEX THE OTHER DAY AND SCREAMED REALLY LOUD.â
- you and Davey blanched as Les yelled out the words at his mother
- your jaw dropped in shock and you turned your head to see Mr. and Mrs. Jacobs looking at their sons with raised eyebrows
-Â âWell, thatâs their choice as rational consenting adults, and you should have knocked Les.â
- Mrs. Jacobs seemed very blasé about the whole ordeal which you were silently grateful for, Mr. Jacobs just laughed and shook his head
- âThatâs what I said.â
- Davey spoke sternly and with a pointed look at his brother who simply grinned
-Â âWasnât as bad as when Albert and Race walked in.â
- the statement made Davey stand up quietly from the table and Lesâ face switched from smug to terrified in a second
- he immediately stood and ran for the front door, Davey following quick on his heels
-Â âIâm gonna get you, Les!â
- Daveyâs parents acted nonchalant, as if this happened frequently when Davey still lived at home
- you simply pushed your plate up and banged your head on the table, a very heavy sigh escaping your lips
