Yeah, we get the picture, weddings suck.
While we’re on the subject, I would like to register my disagreement with the idea of the Black Wedding.
Might Cersei marry Euron? I don’t rule it out. Will he use that occasion to strangle her? I doubt it very much.
We’ve already been there and done that. We’ve already had the occasion of Cersei’s son being poisoned to death at his own wedding. That much is karma for the Red Wedding, and one such occasion is sufficient. If we get yet another wedding as the setting of a major death, and especially the setting of a Lannister death, it suggests GRRM is running out of ideas.
What are your thoughts on the new promo for GOT season 7?
1) Yay for a promo. I didn’t expect a promo. Anything to help us through the hiatus that is dark and full of terrors is generally a good thing.
2) Nothing I didn’t expect, really, as for the three protagonists featuring, what they are doing, and… well, it was what I would have guessed if someone had told me “pick three characters who are gonna feature in a new trailer”, so I am not particularly *gasping* and *omg-ing* and *flailing because I never could have guessed*.
3) I am mostly hyped about the icy breath and the blue eye of the WW at the end - because that is the stuff I am by far more interested in. That is THE big mystery on a global scale, so yeah, that was interesting.
4) I liked the music, I enjoyed the way this was shot.
5) I will admit that I hoped that it would include more characters. Like, more of an ensemble promo where you see different characters in different situations/locations. That would have given more way to tinfoilery and theorizing, which I enjoy a lot. Again, I don’t want to complain because this is an early promo, it’s obvious that they want to get the fans hyped, so those are obvious picks, and it’s a promo! It’s content! Things!
But yeah, I just would have liked more input.
I am hoping that the next promo will include more characters. :D
6) Biggest surprise goes to Cersei still featuring Lannister lions for the Red Keep decoration. Like, she finally could have shown her true banner, that of the wineborn. She could have replaced lions with wine glasses and flagons, and a nice wine fountain right behind the Iron Throne, and a drink holder to be integrated into aforementioned throne.
Cheers!
It looks like both Nikolaj and Lena are in Belfast at the moment, along with that guy who plays Euron. I sure hope Jaime's already left KL before Daenerys comes along or it's gonna be too crowded and there's a risk of Jaime dying. Assuming Euron actually gets to KL before Dany, that could mean some interesting scenes...
I am still calling “plot armor” for Jaime because we are yet to get the JB romace arc to full effect, which is *clearly* not finished in any way whatsoever (aka The Bang that was Promised by Ser Bronn, Voice of Reason and Fandom, among other things).
But yes, that would make for a lethal concoction if Euron and Cersei were to align, and it may also be our gateway to some badass naval battle scenes (though it remains a mystery just where Euron found the trees on Pyke to build his ships with…). They’d make for a perfect couple of evil. The Wineborn Alliance could turn out *really* interesting since either one wants to sit the Throne and keep it… and both are bonkers and sadists, let’s be real. So we may get not just an alliance, but them constantly betraying/tricking each other, and basically two villains constantly going back and forth with the effect of serving as their own/each other’s downfall.
I don’t know if Jaime is to leave before Dany arrives, but I still maintain the view that he won’t stay in KL for long (I think he’ll leave KL earlier in season 7). Given that Euron moves up fast to offer his ships, Cersei will ram her claws into that guy, giving her another character but Qyburn to talk to, plus the breakup that is to come, Jaime can potentially leave faster than he did back in season 6.
But even if he doesn’t leave before Dany and Co. land in King’s Landing (or closeby), I don’t see Jaime being in *true* danger. Tyrion spoke just *so* highly about him to Daenerys (and we still have his line of him owing Jaime his life, and as we know, a Lannister always pays his debts *insert image of Bronn rolling his eyes*) that it would still cause conflict, but he would most definitely speak for Jaime at that moment, I believe. The show cut the Tysha issue, so Tyrion *has* to defend Jaime if he is genuine, which I believe he is in that regard. Plus, one should never forget that Dany meant to come to KL also to find herself a suitable match, and while I most definitely do not believe in such a marriage to happen, that is one of the points Tyrion can instantly raise to her, and present to her Jaime aka Westeros’ Most Wanted Bachelor.
Though hei s obviously property of Brienne of Tarth, but you know how I mean it.
But yeah, Wineborn or Ceuron or Eusei or whatever you want to call it now… they are going to screw things up A LOT! And it will be fascinating to observe that downfall.
To crappily illustrate my point, take a look at this awfully made gif with wine and wildfire.
