Dodgers Win First World Series Since 1988!
Rays 1 Dodgers 3 W-Gonzalez (1-0) L-Anderson (1-1) SV-Urias (1)
The Los Angeles Dodgers have had a long championship drought for a team that has been so good over the past decade. They have had exits in the Division Series and even two World Series, but for some reason this year felt different even in the shortened season. Tonight, they had a chance won win their first World Series since 1988. The Rays tried to dampen the Dodgers hopes in the first inning. Randy Arozarena crushed a Tony Gonsolin slider out to right for a solo homer. This put the Rays on the board right off the bat, but the Dodgers would eventually bounce back. Blake Snell threw five shutout innings, but struggled in the sixth. Austin Barnes lined a one-out single to center to get a huge rally started. Kevin Cash went with Nick Anderson out of the bullpen and things changed on a dime. Mookie Betts lined a double down the left field line. Then Nick Anderson threw a wild pitch, which scored Barnes and tied the game at one. The next batter, Corey Seager hit a grounder to first base and Mookie Betts reached home plate before Mike Zunino could tag him. This put the Dodgers up 2-1 after six frames. Meanwhile, the Dodgers bullpen cruised after Tony Gonsolin registered five outs. Dylan Floro got out of the second, Alex Wood threw two shutout innings, and Pedro Baez got two big outs in the fifth. Victor Gonzalez struck out three over 1 1/3 innings. Brusdar Graterol got two big outs to start the seventh then Julio Urias entered. He struck out Yandy Diaz to end the seventh and had a 1-2-3 eighth. Mookie Betts led-off the bottom of the eighth and crushed a Pete Fairbanks slider out to left-center. The solo blast put the Dodgers up by two runs. Julio Urias had a perfect ninth and the Dodgers won their first World Series in thirty-two years.
-Final Thoughts- Tony Gonsolin did okay as the opener tonight. He retired five men and allowed a run on three hits with four strikeouts. Dylan Floro struck out Randy Arozarena to get out of the second. Alex Wood was huge with three strikeouts over two perfect innings, Pedro Baez got two outs, Victor Gonzalez retired all four men he faced.. Brusdar Graterol got two outs and Julio Urias was sensational. He retired all seven men he faced and struck out four. Mookie Betts led the team with two hits on the day. The Dodgers hit 0-for-5 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base. My heart goes out to the Dodger core of players, who endured so much throughout the years. Clayton Kershaw, Kenley Jansen, Justin Turner, Joc Pederson have been around for a long time. Even guys like Kike Hernandez, Corey Seager, Max Muncy, and Cody Bellinger endure the tough Game 7 loss of the 2017 World Series amidst the Astros scandal. I became a Dodger fan in high school because of Vin Scully. I learned a ton about baseball from that man with all his stories. Enjoy this one Dodgers nation. It was too long of a drought for this organization. I wish I could have visited Dodger Stadium in April like I originally planned for the Twins-Dodgers series. What a year 2020 has been for all of us, but we got through the season.

Braves Bats Back Wilson In Game 4.
Dodgers 2 Braves 10 W-Wilson (1-0) L-Kershaw (0-1)
The Atlanta Braves shocked the world as they took the first two games of the National League Championship Series. The Dodgers came out swinging and beat up on the Braves to take Game 3. Tonight, the Braves sent Bryse Wilson to the hill and prayed for the best result. The Dodgers struck first in the third inning as Edwin Rios drilled a Bryse Wilson fastball out to right for a solo homer. This put Los Angeles up 1-0, but Atlanta would start to figure out Clayton Kershaw in the fourth. Marcell Ozuna crushed a Kershaw slider out to left for a solo blast and the game was tied at one after four frames. The Braves bats stayed hot in the sixth as they looked to force Clayton Kershaw out of the ballgame. Ronald Acuna started it with a lead-off single to second base. He went to second on a throwing error by Kike Hernandez and the Braves had a threat. Freddie Freeman doubled home Acuna and the Braves took a 2-1 advantage. Marcell Ozuna followed with a double of his own and Brusdar Graterol entered the game. He retired Travis d’Arnaud, but Ozzie Albies lined a base hit to right. Dansby Swanson doubled home a pair and Austin Riley singled home another run. Victor Gonalez came on and walked Johan Camargo to keep the inning alive. Cristian Pache hit an RBI single to center to cap off a six-run sixth for the Braves. The Dodgers would start to inch closer in the seventh as Justin Turner led-off with a single to center and Max Muncy walked. Cody Bellinger walked with one out to load up the bases. Edwin Rios greeted Chris Martin with a sac fly to center and the Dodgers were within five. Marcell Ozuna got that run back when he belted a Dylan Floro fastball out to center for a solo home run. This put the Braves back up by six after seven innings of play. Tyler Matzek silenced the Dodgers in the eighth. The Braves got some insurance in the eighth as Cristian Pache reached on an error by Matt Beaty. Ronald Acuna drew a walk and Freddie Freeman singled home a run. Marcell Ozuna added an RBI single to center and the Braves extended their lead to eight. Shane Greene threw a 1-2-3 ninth and the Braves took a commanding (3-1) series lead.
-Final Thoughts- Clayton Kershaw sailed through five innings then hit a wall in the sixth. He lasted five-plus innings and allowed four runs on seven hits with four strikeouts and a walk. Brusdar Graterol wasn’t much better as he gave up three runs in 1/3 of an inning. Victor Gonzalez got out of the sixth, Dylan Floro got five outs, but allowed three runs. Jake McGee eventually got out of the eighth. Justin Turner had two of the three hits for the Dodgers tonight. They hit 0-for-3 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. The Dodgers are now put in a big hole. Dustin May gets the start against a yet to be determined starter for the Braves in Game 5.

Padres Comeback To Advance.
Dodgers 3 Padres 5 W-Hill (1-0) L-Almonte (0-1) SV-Hader (3)
The Los Angeles Dodgers won 111 games and were one of the best regular season teams in MLB history. The Padres pushed them to the brink with a couple straight wins in the NLDS this week. The Dodgers got the scoring started in the third inning with a Mookie Betts walk and Trea Turner double. Freddie Freeman doubled in a pair to put Los Angeles up by two after three innings of play. Tyler Anderson and Joe Musgrove had strong outings and the Dodgers added on in the seventh. Mookie Betts started it all again with a lead-off walk and Trea Turner reached on a bunt single. Freddie Freeman was hit by a pitch and Will Smith hit a sac fly to left to put the Dodgers up by three. The Padres would finally strike in the seventh in a big way. Jurickson Profar led-off with a walk and Trent Grisham singled. Austin Nola reached on an infield single to get San Diego on the board. Ha-Seong Kim doubled home a run and Juan Soto tied the game with a base hit to right. Later in the inning, Jake Cronenworth plated a pair with a single to center. This put the Padres up 5-3 after seven innings. Robert Suarez had a scoreless eighth and Josh Hader struck out the side in the ninth. The Padres advanced and ended the Dodgers historic season early.
-Final Thoughts- Tyler Anderson had a great start with five shutout innings, where he struck out six and allowed two hits. Chris Martin had a scoreless sixth, Tommy Kahnle gave up three runs and didn’t register an out. Yency Almonte gave up two runs in 2/3 of an inning. Alex Vesia got out of the seventh and Evan Phillips struck out the side in the eighth. Freddie Freeman led the way with three hits and Trea Turner had two hits on the night. The Dodgers hit 2-for-9 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base. The Padres will now play the Phillies for the pennant. The Dodgers great season is over way too soon, but the bullpen was always a question mark.

Padres Pitch Past Dodgers.
Dodgers 1 Padres 2 W-Snell (1-0) L-Gonsolin (0-1) SV-Hader (2)
The Padres made things interesting by evening up the series on Wednesday night. The scene shifted to San Diego for Game 3 tonight. The Padres got off to a good start in the first with a Juan Soto one-out double to right. Manny Machado walked and Jake Cronenworth singled a run home to put San Diego up by a run after an inning of play. The Padres kept adding on in the fourth when Trent Grisham blasted a Andrew Heaney fastball out to right for a solo homer. The Dodgers finally solved Blake Snell in the fifth as Trayce Thompson led-off with a single. Austin Barnes doubled to left and Mookie Betts hit a sacrifice fly to right. Los Angeles pulled within a run midway through the game. The Padres bullpen stayed hot with 3 2/3 scoreless innings. Nick Martinez, Luis Garcia, and Robert Suarez bridged the gap to Josh Hader, who had a 1-2-3 as the Padres took the series lead tonight in San Diego.
-Final Thoughts- Tony Gonsolin had a rough outing and didn’t have much of a leash. He registered four outs and gave up a run on four hits with a walk and a strikeout. Andrew Heaney gave up a run over three decent innings with four strikeouts. Yency Almonte struck out the only two batters he saw, Alex Vesia got two outs, and Evan Phillips had four big outs with two strikeouts. Tommy Kahnle had a perfect eighth. Austin Barnes had two hits to lead the team. The Dodgers cannot seem to get a big hit with men in scoring position and went 0-for-9 with runners in scoring position. They left seven men on base. Tomorrow, Tyler Anderson faces Joe Musgrove as the Dodgers look to extend their season.

Padres Even Series.
Padres 5 Dodgers 3 W-Darvish (2-0) L-Graterol (0-1) SV-Hader (1)
The Dodgers jumped out to a five-run lead to start Game 1 then the bullpen held on for dear life in a win. Tonight, the Dodgers looked to take a commanding lead at Dodgers Stadium against the Padres. The Padres got the scoring started in the first when Manny Machado unloaded on a Clayton Kershaw slider and sent it out to left for a solo homer. The Dodgers answered in the bottom of the first as Freddie Freeman walloped a Yu Darvish cutter out to center for a solo homer, which tied the game after an inning of play. Los Angeles got back to work in the second as Max Muncy drilled a Yu Darvish slider out to right for another solo homer. Ha-Seong Kim and Juan Soto started the third with singles. Manny Machado doubled a run home to tie the game at two all. Jake Cronenworth hit an RBI groundout to first to put San Diego up 3-2. Trea Turner responded with a solo shot off a Darvish slider and the game was tied again at three. The Padres got back to work after Clayton Kershaw exited the game in the sixth. Brandon Drury led-off with a base hit to center. Wil Myers reached on a fielder’s choice and Jurickson Profar hit a run-scoring single to right. A pair of great defensive Dodger plays held the Padres to just one run in the inning. San Diego padded their lead in the eighth when Jake Cronenworth smoked a Blake Treinen cutter out to right for a solo blast. The Padres bullpen was strong again with Robert Suarez throwing two scoreless innings, Nick Martinez got two outs, and Josh Hader got the last four outs. The Padres evened up the series in a crazy game in Los Angeles tonight.
-Final Thoughts- Clayton Kershaw was decent tonight by throwing five innings and allowing three runs on six hits with six strikeouts. Brusdar Graterol gave up an unearned run in the sixth, Yency Almonte struck out the side in the seventh, and Blake Treinen looked rusty in the eighth. Tommy Kahnle struck out three in the ninth. Freddie Freeman, Max Muncy, and Gavin Lux each had two hits. The Dodgers hit 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position and left ten men on base. The Dodgers haven’t been able to get a run across against the Padres bullpen. The series will shift to San Diego as Blake Snell will face either Tyler Anderson or Tony Gonsolin in Game 3 on Friday night.
