The Minnesota Twins salvaged a split against the Indians this week. They returned home for a crucial homestand starting tonight against the A's. A pitcher's duel broke out at Target Field as Jacob Lopez and Zebby Matthews put up zeroes for the first four innings. The A's loaded up the bases in the fifth and Lawrence Butler hit a sac fly to center to start the scoring. The A's added on in the sixth as Henry Bolte reached on an infield single and reached second on a groundball. Tyler Soderstrom singled home a run to double the Sacramento lead to two. The A's bullpen was dynamite after Jacob Lopez five shuout innings. Jose Suarez got out of a jam and retired five batters, Elvis Alvarado put up a zero in the eighth, and Hogan Harris had a scorless ninth to close out the win tonight.

-Final Thoughts- Zebby Matthews had good stuff tonight. He went six innings and allowed two runs on three hits with three walks and a strikeout. Kody Funderburk put up a zero in the seventh, Travis Adams struck out two in the eighth, and Jack Anderson fanned two in the ninth. The Twins had just two hits on the night and hit 0-for-8 with men in scoring position. They left eight men on base.

The A's At A Glance- The A's have lost four of six games out of the All-Star Break. They lost two of three to the Diamondbacks before having an off day in Minneapolis on Thursday. Things haven't gone right for the A's after a (16-10) month of April. They lost seventeen games in May and fifteen in June. Sacramento is (3-13) in July and in a tailspin. Brent Rooker is out for the year with a cartilage tear in his left knee. Luis Severino has missed time with a shoulder injury. Nick Kurtz is out with a thumb injury, but could return this weekend. Josh Kuroda-Grauer is out when he fouled a ball off his testical earlier this week. Shea Langeliers leads the team with twenty-three homers, but there are rumors that he isn't open to an extension with the A's. The A's starting staff has a 5.28 ERA, which is second-worst in baseball. The bullpen is the worst in baseball with a 5.60 ERA. Hogan Harris has seven saves with ten holds and has been one of their best relievers. Luis Medina has a 3.72 ERA on the year.

The Twins At A Glance- The Twins split a huge four-game series with the Indians this week. They lost the first two games, but salvaged the last two in Cleveland. Cole Sands threw in another rehab game for the Saints and is close to returning to the Twins. Marco Raya has been on a rehab assignment, but might just get sent back to St. Paul when he's healthy. Connor Prielipp struck out three over three scorelesss innings on Sunday for the Saints in a rehab outing. He might be activated for Saturday's game. Garrett Acton has been on a rehab assignment with the Saints and is close to returning. Kody Clemens has five homers in July and has driven in thirteen runs. Luke Keaschall is hitting .354 this month. Andrew Morris eighteen-inning scoreless streak was broken up by Kyle Manzardo a few days ago. He was on quite the streak out of the bullpen.

What To Watch For- The Twins went (4-3) against the A's in 2025. They won three out of four games in Sacramento, but lost Joe Ryan for significant time in that series. The A's then swept the Twins at Target Field last August. Jacob Lopez is (1-1) with a 6.10 ERA in two games against the Twins. Zebby Matthews went five innings and gave up one run in his lone start against the A's. Jeff Springs is (2-0) with a 1.89 ERA in four games facing the Twins. Joe Ryan is (2-1) with a 5.91 ERA in four starts against the A's. This is a big homestand for the Twins against two teams not playing well this week.

Twins Rally In 12th To Split Series!

The Minnesota Twins played well and picked up a win last night in Cleveland. It was getaway day today at Progressive Field. A pitcher's duel broke out as Taj Bradley and Gavin Williams put up zeroes for the first four innings. Patrick Bailey crushed a Taj Bradley fastball out to right for a solo homer in the fifth to start the scoring. The Tribe had a one-run lead after five innings of play. Gavin Williams ran with it with seven scoreless innings. The Twins would rally in the eighth as Royce Lewis and Luke Keaschall walked. Alan Roden delivered a run-scoring single to center to even the game at one all. The bullpens held up throughout the ninth and we headed for extra innings. Colin Holderman put up a zero in the tenth and Tommy Nance did the same. The Twins couldn't score in the eleventh and Taylor Rogers got out of a jam in the bottom of the eleventh. The Twins struck in the twelfth when Royce Lewis was intetionally walked with two outs. Trevor Larnach singled home a run and Luke Keaschall hit a run-scoring single to left. Jack Anderson came on and threw a scoreless ninth and the Twins split the series with the Indians this week.

-Final Thoughts- Taj Bradley was great today as he threw seven solid innings. He gave up a run on two hits with five strikeouts and three walks. Andrew Morris put up a zero in the eighth and Yoendrys Gomez fanned two in the ninth. Tommy Nance had a 1-2-3 tenth, Taylor Rogers put up a zero in the eleventh, and Jack Anderson had a scoreless twelfth for the save. The Twins scattered six hits on the day. They hit 3-for-17 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base. Jacob Lopez will face Zebby Matthews as the A's come to town tomorrow.

Twins Double Up Indians 10-5!

The Minnesota Twins have hit a slump during a four-game losing streak. The series continued in Cleveland against the Indians tonight. The Twins struck first as Trevor Larnach led-off and crushed a Slade Cecconi sinker out to right for a solo homer. This put the Twins up by a run before the Indians grabbed a bat. The Indians responded in the bottom of the first as Jose Ramirez singled and reached second on a sac fly. Brayan Rocchio singled him home to even the game at one after an inning of play. Cleveland ralied in the second as Kyle Manzardo led-off with a double and Pat Bailey singled him home. Steven Kwan singled and Jose Ramirez hit a slow roller to third for a base hit. A run scored on the play and the Indians led by two after two innings of play. The Twins inched closer in the third as Alex Jackson led-off with a double and Trevor Larnach walked. Brooks Lee singled home a run and Josh Bell hit an RBI groundout to second to even the game at three. The Twins would rally big time in the fourth as Alan Roden reached on an error by Brayan Rocchio. Luke Keaschall singled and Alex Jackson lined a ball that Jose Ramirez knocked down to plate a run. Brooks Lee then smacked a Slade Cecconi sinker out to center for a three-run homer and the Twins had a four-run lead. The Indians would get a run back in the bottom of the fourth when Petey Halpin singe and stole second base. Steven Kwan singled and Jose Ramirez hit an RBI groundout to second. Cleveland was within three after four innings of play. The offenses slowed down in the middle innings. The Twins loaded up the bases in the eighth and Trevor Larnach knocked in a pair with a single to center. Josh Bell singled home another run and the Twins lead grew to six. The Indians wouldn't go away as Kyle Manzardo belted an Andrew Morris cutter out to right for a solo blast. The Indians kept on hitting in the ninth when Chase DeLauter singled and Kyle Manzardo hit a run-scoring single to right. Daniel Schneemann lined out to second to end the game and the Twins picked up the win tonight.

-Final Thoughts- Bailey Ober got roughed up a bit. He went four innings and allowed four runs on eight hits with a walk and two strikeouts. Kody Funderburk had a scoreless fifth, Travis Adams threw two shutout innings, and Andrwe Morris allowed a run in the eighth. Yoendrys Gomez gave up a run in the ninth to close out the game. Trevor Larnach, Brooks Lee, and Alex Jackson had two hits each. The Twins hit 6-for-15 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base. Victor Caratini left the game after fouling a ball of his foot. It was a right knee contusion. Tomorrow, Taj Bradley faces Gavin Williams in the series finale.

Indians Pitch Their Way Past Twins.

The Minnesota Twins have hit a skid during a three-game losing streak. They looked to get back on track tonight against the Indians in Cleveland. The Twins struck early as Ryan Jeffers blasted a Parker Messick curveball out to left for a solo shot in the first. The Indians would answer in the third as Austin Hedges led-off with a walk and Petey Halpin bunted him over. Steven Kwan doubled home a run to even the game at one. Brayan Rocchio greeted Mike Paredes with a run-scoring single to right to put Cleveland on top. The Twins responded in the fourth as Josh Bell doubled and Royce Lewis hit a grounder past Parker Messick and Travis Bazzana threw the ball away. Bell scored on the play to even the game at two apiece. The Indians jumped ahead in the sixth when they loaded up the bases. Austin Hedges hit a sac fly to left and Petey Halpin hit a sacrifice fly to center to put Cleveland up by a pair. Cleveland added on in the seventh as Chase DeLauter led-off with a single to right. Travis Bazzana would knock in a run with a two-out single to left and the Indians led by three. Hunter Gaddis picked up four big outs and Cade Smith had a 1-2-3 ninth as the Indians took another game of this series.

-Final Thoughts- Kendry Rojas started the game and threw 2 1/3 innings. He gave up two runs on one hit with two walks and two strikeouts. Mike Paredes went three innings and allowed two runs on six hits with a walk. Taylor Rogers recorded four outs and gave up a run. Jack Anderson retired all four men he faced in his Twins debut. Kody Clemens had two of the team's six hits. The Twins hit 0-for-5 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base. Tomorrow, Bailey Ober faces Slade Cecconi in Game 3.

Indians Hit 7 HR's To Smash Twins.

The Minnesota Twins had a rough final two days in Chicago. They lost the series and started a huge four-game series against the Indians in Cleveland tonight. The Indians were ready from the start as Travis Bazzana lined a one-out single to right and Brayan Rocchio crushed a Joe Ryan fastball out to right for a two-run homer. Rhys Hoskins followed and knocked a sweeper out to left for a solo blast. This put the Indians up by three after an inning of play. The Twins answered in the second as Royce Lewis drew a lead-off walk and Brooks Lee lined a ball that bounced off Chase DeLauter for a triple to put the Twins on the board. Alan Roden hit a sac fly to center and Minnesota was within a run. The Indians responded in the second as Pat Bailey singled and Petey Halpin belted a Joe Ryan splitter out to right for a two-run homer. Travis Bazzana then smashed a Joe Ryan fastball out to right for a solo blast. Rhys Hoskins smacked a Joe Ryan fastball out to left in the third and the Indians lead grew to five. Petey Halpin hit another homer in the fourth as the home run derby continued in Cleveland. The Indians added on in the fifth as Daniel Schneemann singled and stole second base. Pat Bailey singled him home to push the Cleveland lead to seven. The Indians added a run in the sixth and the Twins answered with a run of their own in the seventh. Pat Bailey took Woo-Suk Go deep for a solo homer and Cleveland added a couple more runs as the rout continued. The Twins inched closer in the eighth as Josh Bell doubled and Victor Caratini doubled him in. Minnesota got within nine after eight innings. Shawn Armstrong had a scoreless ninth and the Indians beat up on the Twins tonight at home.

-Final Thoughts- Joe Ryan got knocked around tonight. He went four innings and gave up eight runs on ten hits with three strikeouts. Kody Funderburk gave up a run in the fifth, Tommy Nance struck out two and gave up a run in the sixth, and Woo-Suk Go allowed three runs in the seventh. Alex Jackson had a scoreless eighth. Trevor Larnach, Byron Buxton, Josh Bell, and Brooks Lee had two hits on the night. The Twins hit 2-for-7 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base. Tomorrow, Parker Messick will start against the Twins and the Twins will have a bullpen game.

The team heads to Cleveland for an important four-game series against the Indians this week. Byron Buxton has been working out and the team might activate him during this series. Connor Prielipp struck out three in three scoreless innings for the Saints on a rehab start. It sounds like David Festa and Mick Abel are done for the season after Jeremy Zoll gave the media updates on them. Marco Raya and Cole Sands are scheduled to throw for the Saints on rehab on Tuesday. Sands should be close to being activated and the roster move in the bullpen will be interesting. Garrett Acton will throw two innings for Fort Myers on Wednesday during in rehab. It's undetermined who the Twins will start on Tuesday. Kendry Rojas threw eighteen pitches on Saturday and could be used as a bulk guy. Mike Paredes threw forty pitches on Saturday.

The Indians At A Glance- The Indians lost two of three to the Pirates over the weekend. The homestand continues against the Twins this week. Cleveland is currently one game behind the White Sox for first place in the American League Central. Steven Kwan has caught fire with a .429 average in July. Chase DeLauter has hit four homers and knocked in ten runs in July. The Indians starting staff has a 3.75 ERA, which is tenth-best in baseball. Cade Smith has given up one run over his past nine innings of work. The Cleveland bullpen has a 3.69 ERA, which is also tenth-best in MLB.

What To Watch For- The Twins are (4-2) against the Indians this year. They took two of three in Cleveland in mid-May and took two of three at Target Field before the All-Star Break. The Chicago Cubs evened up their series against the Twins yesterday at Wrigley Field. The rubber game was today on the north side of Chicago. The Cubs struck early as Seiya Suzuki lined a one-out double to left in the first. Later in the inning, Alex Bregman knocked a Zebby Matthews slider out to left for a two-run homer. The Cubs took a two-run lead after an inning of play. The Cubs added on in the second when Pedro Ramirez hit a ground-rule double. Carson Kelly singled him home and the Chicago lead grew to three. The Cubs kept on hitting in the third as they loaded up the bases. Nico Hoerner hit a flyball to center field that Luke Keaschall misplayed for a bases clearing triple. Pedro Ramirez singled home a run and Chicago led by seven. The Cubs had one more rally in the fourth when Pete Crow-Armstrong led-off with a double and Seiya Suzuki walked. Michael Busch and Alex Bergman hit run-scoring singles to left. Nico Hoerner added an RBI single to left and the Cubs had a 10-0 lead. Meanwhile Shota Imanaga threw seven shutout innings and the Twins found some offense in the eighth. Austin Martin and Ryan Jeffers singled to left and Josh Bell walked. Royce Lewis hit a sac fly to right and the Twins were on the board. Drew Pomeranz put up a zero in the ninth and the Cubs took the series from the Twins this weekend.
