EgoChristmas- Day 17
Prompt: Snowflakes
Pairing: Bimgle, winged!au
---
“Where the hell are we going?” Bim pumped his wings frantically, fighting to stay aloft against wind so frigid it stole the breath from his throat. Swirling snowflakes clumped his feathers, soaked his clothes, and nearly whited-out his vision, forcing him to rely solely on Blue’s neon biolights to guide him.
“Blue?” Bim called, fear jolting cold through him as he realized he couldn’t see the android any longer. “Blue?”
“I am here.” There came a light tough to his right wing, and words all but carried away by the storm. “Follow me so we can land.”
Without waiting for a reply he powered ahead, the mechanical whir of his wings lost under the howling wind. His biolights, however, remained, glowing blue and leading Bim as they began their descent.
---
The snow was less turbulent on the ground, something that Bim breathed a sigh of relief for. “It seems like it’s falling slower,” he said, tilting his head back to stare at the pitch-black sky and the snowflakes fluttering down from it.
Blue nodded. “This is a logical assumption,” he replied, “but it is not in fact precipitating at a decreased rate. This is because-”
“No, no, it’s fine.” Bim said hurriedly, holding up a hand. “I don’t need to know. Just tell me where we are.”
“We,” Blue spun, pointing toward a soft glow in the near distance, “are half a mile south of a town near the westernmost coastline.”
“Why?”
A brief smile crossed the android’s face. “Why, for the Lights Festival of course. I have it recorded that you enjoy them.”
Bim felt his face flush hot. His feathers puffed. “So you brought me all the way out here for one?”
“Is that not obvious?”
He grinned. “Thank you.”
That earned a roll of the eyes. “Don’t bother with trivialities, not if you’d like to make it before the Festival ends.”
“Better get going, then.” Bim held out his hand for Blue to take, knowing that the android would probably ignore it, as he tended to do.
But this time, he didn’t; Blue took Bim’s hand, squeezing it before pulling him along across the barren snowscape, toward the tiny, lit-up town.
